This Christmas Holiday is the most boring ever

Getting me down, ever since Boxing Day we have just been so bored and it's that lethargic type of bored. Tried to go for a bike ride today but began raining so we had to turn back after 5 minutes. No snow in my area which would perk us up!

I love Christmas holidays usually but in Tier 3 we are bored! I know people have it much worse so trying to be grateful! Is anyone else feeling the same?!

We'd usually meet friends, go to play areas, cinema, bowling, trampolines, out for meals etc.

OP posts:
Hollybutnoivy · 29/12/2020 17:55

Agreed! No carol concerts, no cinema, no visiting friends and relatives. It's a bit rubbish, isn't it?

Yetithesnowwoman · 29/12/2020 17:55

Yes super bored. It’s like the first lockdown ( we’re Tier 4), without work pressure which is good but with awful weather which is awful!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/12/2020 17:58

Yep. I'm off work until the 4th, normally we'd do loads. Meet up with friends, go out for meals/cinema. We're tier 3 so all we can do is go to the park. DS and I have literally spent days sitting home watching films and eating.

Nighthawker · 29/12/2020 17:58

Yeah it's a bit shit, we would usually go for a couple of meals out, day at the sales, take DD to the funfair that comes every normal Christmas, meet up with friends etc. Not really left the house since Christmas eve, apart from one quick top up food shop.

PatchworkElmer · 29/12/2020 17:59

Honestly, I’ve forgotten what we’d normally do at this time of year 🤷🏻‍♀️

londongirl12 · 29/12/2020 18:01

Agree. We've got Covid, symptoms started Xmas day. This year blows

RedskyAtnight · 29/12/2020 18:01

It's not having all the pre-Christmas stuff that makes a difference as well. December is usually so busy we are glad of a rest over Christmas. But this year it's just been the same all month.

Sunshine1235 · 29/12/2020 18:03

Yep bored bored bored. Going a little crazy inside but facing the rainy cold with a newborn and 2 preschoolers is really not my idea of fun

Tenyearsgone · 29/12/2020 18:04

It's shit. Not even a decent NYE to look forward to.

Mochatatts · 29/12/2020 18:06

This is the first year I can remember I've not been stressed, entertaining kids and family and generally running around. At 34wks pregnant a quiet chilled holiday eating chocolate, reading and putting my feet up was exactly what I needed. I'm sure others are relieved to have some enforced down time too.

TempsPerdu · 29/12/2020 18:06

Try Tier 4 OP - it is soul-crushingly dull. And, with a bored toddler who hates the cold, also pretty stressful!

Jrobhatch29 · 29/12/2020 18:07

Yep! Nothing to do but walks. Tier 3 here too. Yesterday we went to the seafront and i felt like crying it was so cold. Today me and my 8 month old went for a walk with my DM and within 5 mins it was pouring. We have been doing board games on a night which was fun but losing appeal now! I was actually so excited to go to lidl on my own yesterday for a break! I am desperate for some time just me and DP. I miss date nights!

FreeBettyBoop · 29/12/2020 18:07

We are loving it! Tier 4 and we’ve had a few days of lying around, letting the kids have more screen time than usual etc (we agreed to allow ourselves a few days to recover from what has honestly been the hardest year we have ever known) but today we went for a lovely winter walk, watched The Grinch, had a wee game of jenga with my eldest who is now 6 and great fun. I’m having myself a wee Sherry while the kids have their tea.

It’s just blissful to relax and not have to think about the hell that is work (and the upcoming disaster that January will be).

Coasterfan · 29/12/2020 18:08

Very bored. My 11 and 13 year olds just give me the look when I suggest national trust/country park. We are tier 3. I m not meant to be working til monday but I might get my laptop out tomorrow and get a head start!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/12/2020 18:08

Alert level 4 here in Wales.
I have a week off work - first time off since August.
I’m loving the enforced nothingness.

DipSwimSwoosh · 29/12/2020 18:08

I am enjoying not having to visit family cross country. We are in tier 3 and have done lots of swimming, indoor and out, been to the cinema and car park panto, climbing and a farm park, plus playing in the snow. Lovely to stay away from shops and traffic, and spend time playing with toys, board games, reading and watching tv.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/12/2020 18:10

So bored. I was really looking forward to 2 weeks off at Christmas for the first time in my career but it blows! Absolute waste of holiday.

Bytheriogrande · 29/12/2020 18:11

Yep, really enjoyed boxing Day but since I've really sunk into a miserable mood! Normally I'd take myself out for the day, go to the cinema, meet a friend at the pub. Anything! And now January is just stretching out ahead with more of the same (worse?!) I'm usually very positive but really down today :(

tinkywinkyshandbag · 29/12/2020 18:12

I think it's harder with young children, we have older teens who are more self managing. I'm personally quite enjoying not doing much, im thinking if it as recharging my batteries, but I agree it is a bit boring. Boring but restful.

Chimeraforce · 29/12/2020 18:13

Don't mind it. Tier 4. All I miss is visiting family and friends. Not too fussed about shopping or cinema as they're always rammed where I live so I don't bother anyway.
Had to go to asda opticians earlier for DD and was fine. Weird having to book just to try on specs though.

Love51 · 29/12/2020 18:15

My work have shut down between Xmas and new year. I'd prefer to use my leave when we can actually use it to either see people or go places. I like the lead up to Christmas, lots of craft and baking but now it's all presents that need adult support to play with.
Today's walk was improved by the snow! But we had to cancel our plans to meet family for a walk near their house and I'm kind of lonely.

Ragwort · 29/12/2020 18:15

I went back to work on Sunday (purely my choice Grin), and others in my team volunteered to go in on Boxing Day.

Yetithesnowwoman · 29/12/2020 18:16

It’s nice and cosy in some ways but I think looming school closures make it feel worse - as though this enclosed family time will go on all winter!

Michaelbaubles · 29/12/2020 18:18

I went to Wilkos today and bought a load of half price wrapping paper, and I think it was the best part of the holiday so far.

Alwaysandforeverhere · 29/12/2020 18:18

Tier 4 and could kill For a trip to the beach although I am having to attend a tier 3 pub this week Grin for work purposes.
