This Christmas Holiday is the most boring ever

Getting me down, ever since Boxing Day we have just been so bored and it's that lethargic type of bored. Tried to go for a bike ride today but began raining so we had to turn back after 5 minutes. No snow in my area which would perk us up!

I love Christmas holidays usually but in Tier 3 we are bored! I know people have it much worse so trying to be grateful! Is anyone else feeling the same?!

We'd usually meet friends, go to play areas, cinema, bowling, trampolines, out for meals etc.

I think part of the problem is that we don't really have a choice - if I was choosing to stay at home, not see family, not go out anywhere fun then that would be great. But being told we can't do those things, just makes me want to do them and miss them more.

I'm bored and lonely. My DD was in isolation until 27th but I crashed after Christmas (L-Covid/post-Covid fatigue) so even now we could go for a walk we've not been able to as I've barely been able to get out of bed. So sick of it all Xmas Sad

@GCAcademic

I'm loving it. This is the only time I've had off since last Christmas, and the last few months at work have been hell. So doing nothing is my idea of heaven.
I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying it. I'm ao envious of people who have children old enough to entertain themselves so they can do nothing. At this point I am 99% sure if someone offered, I'd sell a kidney for just 24 hours to spend all by myself.

DH and I have just had this exact conversation - we feel so lethargic and are starting to snipe at each other which is very unlike us.

I think lots of couples have found themselves sniping at each other this year so try not to feel too bad about it. The constant togetherness of working from home, routines out of kilter and not being able to physically go anywhere to get a break are enough to test even the most laid back of couples.

I'd say it's monotonous rather than boring.

I'm having a nice time reading books, watching films, doing some of my own projects, listening to loads of new music, cooking (and eating), messaging friends - I haven't been bored as such this year. And my read/watch/listen/cook lists are nowhere near done, there's always something new to dive into. But I just want to do other things as well!

Can't say I didn't expect it though, it's been obvious for a while what the winter would be like. I find being pessimistic has been a real help throughout the pandemic.

ILookAtTheFloor · 30/12/2020 08:26

Yes incredibly monotonous. We were isolating until 28th and then realised there's fuck all to do even after we can leave the house.

We've exhausted all local woods/beach walks. Tier 4 here. As others have said, I'm not bored as such- it feels like a whole week of Sundays, but without seeing anyone.

ArtichokeAardvark · 30/12/2020 08:36

Tier 4 with 2 toddlers. Boredom isn't the right word, it's soul crushing monotony with 2 children who are climbing the walls. We've been on so many walks around the same paths that the kids no longer want to go out, plus it's freezing and sleeting. Spending hours at a time trying to get excited about playdoh. And the buggers have stopped sleeping well at night because they aren't burning enough energy during the day, so these awful endless days start at 5am and last forever.

My biggest fear is that Hancock is about to close schools and early years settings again.

I wouldn’t mind if the weather wasn’t so grim - the rain is relentless! Having said that, I did miss the usual build up to Christmas.

MadameBlobby · 30/12/2020 08:46

Yes it’s rubbish. We usually have something on most days over the holidays. We did manage trampoline park and lunch on Christmas Eve before everything shut again. I have been back at work since yesterday and quite pleased about it if I am honest.

Counting down the days to absolutely nothing. God I miss the pub.
