And I feel a little liberated.
There was a great buzz at the hospital like everyone was pleased to be doing their bit, admin, hca's to deputy director of nursing and medical consultants working on a Saturday to get the job done.

Really succinct information giving to make informed decisions for anyone with concerns, great follow up service.
Couldn't be prouder to work in the NHS or as someone with an at risk condition, having this service looking out for me.
Just wanted to share!
@foodtoorder Not a problem per se but posts like that can come across as gloating. The vaccine is a highly prized commodity in short supply now with only highly vulnerable groups priorised. Back in March, if one had the good fortune of working at a supermarket and being able to source some of those precious tomato tins and bags of pasta, would one be plastering photos of your full larder all over the Instagram? Don't think so... if they had a modicum of sensitivity.
Are you for fucking real?

SallyLovesCheese · 12/12/2020 22:27

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants Ooh, I didn't know they may look again at the order. Thank you for the info! No guarantees, obviously, but I do get worried being at work sometimes so would feel much happier having had it.

Returnofthemaccys · 12/12/2020 22:27

As a teacher I'm totally jealous you've had it already! I wish teachers were further up the ladder. As it is, I'll be in the last group to have it.

It's disgusting that teachers aren't being prioritised. Not surprising at all, given the way the government has treated them, but still truly awful.

Understandingnotignorance · 12/12/2020 22:31

Fantastic news, I needed hope today and this post has given it!

foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 22:31

@PleaseLetIanBeDead there are more vaccines coming. They could have different criteria. I'm sorry it might not be suitable for you but change is coming. 🤞

No, no surprise!

I'd just like to go to work and be in a bubble with around 67 other families but not be quite so worried about bringing the virus home. Hopefully DH will be vaccinated a bit earlier than me (he's just over 50).

foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 22:35

@sallylovescheese the vaccines that don't have to be stored so delicately will be game changers. I can imagine this is where the pop up clinics in car parks etc will appear to get the ball really rolling.

justgeton · 12/12/2020 22:36

Great news. Delighted for you.

People need to realise that as more people are vaccinated the more we are all protected while waiting our turn.

Front line nhs staff absolutely should be at the front of the queue

It's so good they're already rolling out, though. Thank goodness for modern science!!

I think you’re on your own with that view.

Yes but neither should school staff not feature in said queue at all.
justgeton · 12/12/2020 22:44

I didn't mention school staff, and their place in the queue isn't relevant to this thread

😂😂😂 Do people REALLY think like this? And do they REALLY not think at all before typing it and pressing submit?

crankysaurus · 12/12/2020 22:45

Tremendously glad for you, OP!

Scales2020 · 12/12/2020 22:45

Why is it making the arm ache more than a flu vaccine? Is it a larger fluid volume or something?

friendlycat · 12/12/2020 22:45

Well done. Great news that it’s started. Here’s hoping that this is rolled out swiftly. It’s been an amazing achievement by all the scientists Worldwide.
Looking forward to a more positive future and the day when we finally look back on this horrible period in time. We’re living through a moment in history and this is a historic day for you.

princessTiasmum · 12/12/2020 22:46

Just been on the news that some care home assistants are refusing to have the vaccine, this is wrong in my eyes, surely those looking after ill and elderly should have to have it or be sacked
Cant wait for my turn, over 75 so hopefully wont be too long
Congratulations OP so pleased for you

Retiremental · 12/12/2020 22:46

There’s a whole other teachers are more deserving thread running elsewhere on MN right now Wink
foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 22:48

@scales2020 yes it is more diluted but honestly didn't think to ask the volume in syringe. It def looked like more than flu vaccine though.
My arm doesn't ache now though.

Hope you are okay health wise in the long term op Thanks

foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 22:51

@princessTiasmum it is an individual decision to have or not. But hopefully the residents in the home have the vaccine to offer them some protection.

Mybedislisting · 12/12/2020 22:53

@todayIdrankmilk What do you mean?

SeaMoonWave · 12/12/2020 23:03

@Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls

That’s great you had the vaccine! Just a bit confused tho when you say about transmission? Can you pass covid to someone from having the jab? I thought having a vaccine would give you immunity therefore you wouldn’t be able to catch it/pass it on to anyone?
The vaccine gives you the immune system response to fight off the infection. It isn’t a magic force field around you, you still catch covid, but you immediately fight it off so you don’t know you caught it or you feel ill for a day then better. During that time you are still contagious and can pass it on to others until your immune system has killed it dead.

You can also still pass it on by touching something contaminated like a door handle then shaking someone’s hand. Which is why it was so bonkers trump saying he would kiss everyone, he could kiss someone infected and then pass the virus on his lips to the next poor person.

Sweettea1 · 12/12/2020 23:04

So do you still have to be tested if you have symptoms an isolate so you can't pass it on? So until everyone has the vacs there will be no change really wonder how long its gonna take till every1 has had it.

RaggieDolls · 12/12/2020 23:05

That's great news OP. I can't wait until it's my turn...!
