Sooner than expected! Wondering what he will say...

FFS

There's furlough, Job support scheme

It's a mess.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2020 19:09

Furlough extended for December

Bathroom12345 · 31/10/2020 19:10

Fgs. You die in a car crash or have terminal cancer. You test positive after your death and that is the cause of death?.That is utterly ridiculous.

SheepandCow · 31/10/2020 19:10

@chomalungma

All his back bench MPs were warned. And they just laughed it off.
Yes. He's speaking to them as much as, if not more than, us. The slide presentation too.

It was the likes of Graham Brady, Chair of the 1922 committee, who pushed for Boris to ignore the medical and scientific advice. Their shortsighted false economy is why we're in such a mess.

ReginaaPhalange · 31/10/2020 19:10

I wonder if Nicola will follow suit for Scotland?

FairFridaythe13th · 31/10/2020 19:11

So from Thursday...

Can do:
schools, unis etc open
Work if you must
Exercise
Medical reasons
Essential shopping
Care giving/childcare
Essential shops to stay open

Gyms closed?
Pubs bars and restaurants closed (takeaways ok)
Construction still going on
Single occupancies can bubble with other households.

Opticians? Dentists?

Furlough extended (thank goodness) until 2nd December

Christmas - action now and allow people together hopefully (fat chance)

Loo roll hoarding to commence in 3-2-1

TiersOfAClown · 31/10/2020 19:11

@DuncinToffee

Furlough extended for December
Is this applicable to new employees, I wonder? Thinking of the sheer number of people who have lost jobs already and so are newly into new jobs (where they have been lucky to find a new job)?
SophieB100 · 31/10/2020 19:12

Another new test rolling out soon.

Whatever.

diege · 31/10/2020 19:12

Bubbles still ok for single adult households 🤗

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 19:12

@ReginaaPhalange

I wonder if Nicola will follow suit for Scotland?
I doubt it. She only announced the new tiers for areas yesterday. Her tweets suggest that they'll stick with that.

I expect the fire at Hairmyers Hospital might tip Lanarkshire into the highest tier though. That's the last thing they needed when it was teetering already.

Brazillio · 31/10/2020 19:12

He keeps saying "alas"

He always does - it drives me crazy!

Iheartbaby · 31/10/2020 19:13

I missed what he said about people who shield, did he say they must stay at home if they can’t work from home?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 31/10/2020 19:13

He needs to speed up if he's going to watch France v Ireland.

SinkGirl · 31/10/2020 19:13

Yes
Fridgeandkitchen · 31/10/2020 19:13

So England is in lockdown but I wonder, what’s new in England that’s not already in place in parts of Scotland. Ireland and Wales?

It’s a genuine question? Beyond the high street being shut, what’s the real difference?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 31/10/2020 19:15

Iheartbaby he mangled the sentence so it wasn't clear.

onedayinthefuture · 31/10/2020 19:15

Leisure facilities to close so no sport, this will include kids sports, swimming lessons, dance lessons. They have only really just started back.
Bridecilla · 31/10/2020 19:15

Nowt said about Grandparents and childcare?

ironsgurl · 31/10/2020 19:16

Are the childcare support bubbles still allowed? For grandparents who provide childcare?

Chickenandrice · 31/10/2020 19:17

So all gyms and sports centres to close? What about kids sports and activities? I assume they are to close?

Fridgeandkitchen · 31/10/2020 19:17

I cant quote you oneday. Where I am that’s never opened since March. Some professional sport has such as football and the six nations today.

Mummydaydreams · 31/10/2020 19:18

Can playgrounds stay open?

Matilda2013 · 31/10/2020 19:19

@ReginaaPhalange

I wonder if Nicola will follow suit for Scotland?
Personally I think she might. If she leaves it too late she won't have the furlough scheme to use!
Bailey0703 · 31/10/2020 19:20

@ironsgurl

If you are ok with putting your parents 'at risk' then crack on... I wouldn't.. depends how important your parents are to you !
UnmentionedElephantDildo · 31/10/2020 19:21

Outside exercise sounded OK, but presumably subject to numbers in groups (or being very well spaced - a bit like June)

And children's playgrounds and outdoors gyms will be decided by councils (who are responsible for safety of equipment)
