Oh god ignore me!

MarshaBradyo · 24/11/2020 17:39

Thought it was two different stories - as you were 🙈

Jrobhatch29 · 24/11/2020 17:49

Haha sorry that's my fault! It was 2 different stories Grin

About the GP, he didnt say and I stupidly didn't ask. Will ask when I next see him Smile

tobee · 24/11/2020 19:00

Not that I want to get ahead of myself, but I'm starting to wonder what I'll do first when restrictions are over! Might become a tourist in my own city! Grin

I want to be inoculated by a dear old retired GP. My old GP was brilliant, he once gave me a bottle of valium and said 'happy Christmas' :) He absolutely loved getting his hands dirty, he was openly thrilled when he had the opportunity to do minor surgery on me (mole removal) and practically rubbed his hands together.

Hope he's digging out his mustard knitted tie as we speak.

feelingverylazytoday · 25/11/2020 09:36

This is the best thread on mumsnet 😄

JemimaPyjamas · 25/11/2020 10:09

I agree! Its like a different world to the other covid threads in particular!

Layladylay234 · 25/11/2020 17:23

Hey all. Any positive news today? Really need it as 6 month old didn't sleep great last night,it rained and was grey all day here. I'm desperate for things to start opening up again, would just love to go to a coffee shop in my city but I'm pretty sure we're going to be in Tier 3.

Also tried to start the morning positive with some HIT but ended with stomach pains from eating too many carbs!

Any positive news welcome....please!!!

Austria is refusing to close ski resorts over Christmas - so some people will get their Christmas ski holidays. That is good news for some.
Also I think nurses and doctors will be getting their pay rises it was announced today and pensioners.

MarshaBradyo · 26/11/2020 10:01

Good news today is that cases are falling here. Very local info I know but it’s nice to see a change in direction at last.

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2020 10:30

Scotland is levelling off/falling too. Very regional, but here in Edinburgh I think we're doing brilliantly. Parts of Scotland have had miniscule numbers right from the start.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 26/11/2020 11:05

My town (and the next three towns surrounding us actually) have had no cases in a week, so I'm pleased about that Smile

Mybrowneyedgal · 26/11/2020 11:10

Includewomen where did you find that breakdown of figures?

tobee · 26/11/2020 11:16

Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines in race to be first approved; maybe next week!:-

I'm in Scotland so we can see cases by neighbourhood on our dashboard. Not sure if England has the same, sorry.
wildbarnet · 26/11/2020 13:31

I need good news hearing bad things about the Oxford vaccine is it just people putting in the boot ?

A lot of speculation but basically everyone’s just guessing. All the info we have is based on a press release, not the actual data. Regulators will see the actual data. No reason to think they won’t approve it at all; possibly they might want to wait a bit longer for more trial results with the possibly-90%-effective dosage before giving it the okay.
chri55ie · 26/11/2020 13:45

Most of the negative commentary is coming from the US I think .....

chri55ie · 26/11/2020 13:47

I subscribe to Dr John Campbell on You tube. He did a detailed analysis of the Oxford Vaccine so I would check him out if you want some reassurance. I would recommend!

TheChineseChicken · 26/11/2020 14:05

Oh gosh, I hadn’t heard about any of this (been avoiding news outlets). Please be ok...

chri55ie · 26/11/2020 14:14

My understanding is it’s a few snide comments about the validity of the results from the part of the trial that discovered the 90% efficacy via a dosing ‘error’. Think that’s it. Nothing really in the British press..

TeaInTheGarden · 26/11/2020 16:48

I need a good news person to tell me the oxford vaccine is going to get approved please!!

Sky news saying something about needing to do another trial but I really really hope they are just speculating and wrong!!

Orangeblossom7777 · 26/11/2020 16:53

Something about the main one being 60% but the much smaller arm, with only under 55s being 90% ish...and this being due to a lab error (the lower dose) So, some experts are being a bit sceptical about the results

Fingers crossed it turns out OK

JemimaPyjamas · 26/11/2020 16:53

Typing on my phone so will be brief. I’ve heard about this via my neighbour and he gave me the impression it was a bit of sour grapes. The UK has delivered an effective vaccine that is also far more likely to be used worldwide due to both cost and storage. I think I read somewhere ages ago that Sarah Gilbert was very clear in how a vaccine / drug has to cover all aspects, not just effectiveness. In that context, it pisses all over the US ones (and wasn’t Pfizer being competitive about being the first too...?)
