I've been trying to get a Waitrose slot too Giant Kitten. After midnight worked until the weekend but nothing now. I'm hoping they might add deliveries.

Oh dear, that’s worrying. Thanks, Cote. I don’t actually need one until late next week, so I’ll try again in a few days 🤞🏻
Onceuponatimethen · 03/11/2020 22:11

Agree with the comments about M&S quality - it doesn’t measure up to Waitrose sadly

I popped into a branch of Marks yesterday to pick up a couple of bits and was shocked by the short sell by dates on so many items. Of all the coleslaw and potato salad type items, the BB date was today. In the fish section, all the prepared fish ready meals would run out on Thursday. It really does seem to cater for a shopper who is only planning 2-3 days in advance at most. That does not marry well when you can only get an Ocado slot every 10 days!

TeaOneSugar · 04/11/2020 09:20

For the first time in about 11 years I haven't got a Christmas Eve Ocado slot, I've got one on the 20th which I'm keeping for now but I've cancelled my delivery pass and bought a mid week Morrison's one (wfh so I can do mid week now) their slots are opening soon (the star appeared earlier today) so fingers crossed.

My last resort will be a click and collect "food to order" Morrison's slot and an early morning trip to the market for veg. I was underwhelmed by my butchers and cheese shop order last year, so a bit torn with that.

TeaOneSugar · 04/11/2020 09:36

I've got a Morrison's Christmas Eve morning slot 😅

HaggisTheGreat · 04/11/2020 10:39

Is there a pattern to when delivery slots appear? I have an anytime pass and delivery booked for next two weeks but can’t see anything beyond that :(

StanfordPines · 04/11/2020 10:52

Just had a text to say that the cut off to edit my order for Friday has been brought forward to 11 pm tonight!

Fuss · 04/11/2020 11:06

Interestingly I've had an order confirmation this morning for my reserved slot for the 3rd December.
Dare I hope they are actually going to honour them this time?

bruffin · 04/11/2020 20:34

They don't have angostura bitters anymore.

StanfordPines · 04/11/2020 20:48

@bruffin

What? How the hell are we meant to get through lockdown.

There is a lack of mushy peas too.

OpEd · 04/11/2020 21:32

I swear every few weeks our average minimum order cost is creeping up, past couple of weeks have been £160, prior to Covid we averaged £100 a week but of course now I'm not doing any top up shops...

Husband wants us to change to Waitrose but I've got a weekly reserved slot and a Christmas slot booked so I think we may have to give Ocado to the end of the year.

No cheap wholewheat pasta now either 😭

tootyfruitypickle · 04/11/2020 21:52

I’ve got reserved on the 3rd as well. I was looking at my reserved slots earlier wondering if they were real... or if I should book some back ups. Cant book anything extra for 2 weeks which is fine but as long as they don’t cancel reserved again!

I’m less worried about popping to the shop occasionally now at least

AdaColeman · 04/11/2020 22:47

My order today only had a few things missing, and the substitutions seemed more realistic. I felt the use by dates were generally improving too.
My main problem today has been the awful packing, so many of the items completely spoiled, fancy cakes arrived as mush, desserts packed upside down, even when the packaging warns "keep upright"!

I think a lot of the problem is that M&S haven't adapted their packaging to the more robust needs of home delivery systems.
For instance, Waitrose panna cotta has boxed individual lidded tubs, but the M&S tubs have no lids, so the contents pours into the box, if it's not packed properly.

Waitrose doesn't deliver to my area unfortunately, or I would be considering a change to them.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 05/11/2020 07:01

Hmm ... Everything arrived this morning. Half the eggs pre-scrambled, so went to mobile site to make a refund request. Site tells me this is easiest from the app. Click app - still not restored for me. I'm no computing/coding expert but I'm struggling to see why they're finding this so problematic.

(Anyway, refund requested through 18th century desktop site ...)

Westfacing · 05/11/2020 07:31

The M&S elderflower cordial is rubbish compared to Waitrose's.

Honestly it's so weak I thought I'd got elderflower drink/presse in error. With the Waitrose one you only needed a very small amount to make a decent glassful. With the M&S I've had three drinks and used up a third of the bottle.

@ILoveAllRainbowsx Did they offer you choux buns instead?

Their selection of substitutions is quite poor still, they must be losing out on a lot of sales. Also, customers will quickly get fed up with the failings and go elsewhere, as this thread shows.

CoteFolie · 05/11/2020 13:05

My delivery arrived on time. Everything there (the first time for several months) and use by dates were very good. I even got my free Chocolatey bar. I've criticised Ocado in the past but can't fault them today.

Now if only I could get another slot in November.....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/11/2020 13:40

I'm back on the ECV list - it is overkill really for me, but there you go... I cannot get another ocado slot at all. I like most of you paid for a delivery pass so that this time round I wouldn't have to worry about getting food in.

Kazmerelda · 05/11/2020 13:43

I have started doing mixed shops from last week and only doing some basics from ocado. I removed all the M&S stuff (because it totalled an extra 15 quid that if I bought it in store!) and got a lot of the oldies from Waitrose.

I saved 25 quid on what I would have spent had I got it all fromOcado.

I am now getting more emails cos I have halved what I am spending each week for the last shop and all my future ones!

Shopping arrived this morning. 15 minutes early and everything there with no subs.
And I forgot to give him the bloody carrier bag full of bags so the mountain is getting higher.

Had chicken and sausages subbed today. I looked at the reviews for the replacements and they were rubbish so I rejected them. Pasta sauce it is for a few days! I’ve noticed nothing really has very good reviews these days.
