Ocado tips, hacks, Toblerone and Christmas

Still no email about the Christmas slots.

I'm not really sure what you mean XiCi. To add something on Ocado you have to amend it. There is a list facility on Waitrose if that helps. Tesco and Sainsburys also give you the advance notice that something will be unavailable, it gives you the option to choose something else yourself.

To add something on Ocado you just click add to order and it goes straight on. On the Waitrose app you have to amend your whole order to add more items at which point several items have shown as unavailable. I assume I just wouldnt have received these on delivery if I hadnt gone in to amend. It's very frustrating and I definitely wont be trusting them with my Xmas order. There a quite a few people on the Xmas boards saying Waitrose have previously let them down badly at Christmas with missing items and I can see why from my first order!

No. You just click ‘one click’. Only on the app though.

Do you have the Ocado App because I def need to check out again when I add something after checking out? Waitrose have been fine for me in the past at Christmas. Ocado obviously used to be the best for stock but not now.

Yes I have the app.
Ocado had a few problems with subs over lockdown and when they first switched to M&S but no subs or missing items for a few weeks now.
Will have to wait till Thurs to see how much is missing from Waitrose. I'm up to 5 items already now.

Doh, not for me! I just tried and saw there was a receipt to view but it then said it's rolling the app out gradually and i need to use the website

Bacon missing - all the bacon they stock and they couldn't find a substitute for normal back bacon rashers?
One of two pies missing - again, they couldn't sub a meat pie? - and the other substituted, so that's Friday's dinner out the window.

All things that were ordered weeks ago.

Not that I've bothered to look before, but my "flash sale" M&S fish didn't seem to be showing its discount (either in the price on my order or at the "discounts" subtotal). I will be checking my receipt like a hawk tomorrow.

@CovidClara have you thought about getting a mini-chopper to ease your onion-chopping angst? I'm not very impressed since the M&S hook-up, having been with Ocado about 16 years.

So many things unavailable when ordering and every week at least one thing missing and a couple of substitutions. It's not the end of the world in the middle of a pandemic but just wondering why?

I'm also not impressed at all - they seem to have a policy of only substituting M&S products for anything missing, which is REALLY annoying. Last week I didn't get butter - there was really no butter replacement at all? I think there was just no M&S butter and they aren't allowed to substitute anything else.

I also think they put M&S products on at reduced prices initially as we were all comparing - but have raised the prices since thinking we wouldn't notice - lots of the reviews comment on this.

Because of this I've placed a Waitrose order for the first time But lots of frozen stuff is out of stocks and I also find the lack of an app a bit clunky.

I’ve actually looked at booking a Sainsbury’s delivery to make up for the things I can’t get from Ocado.... at first glance it looks like there are lots of slots available for me to choose from at £1 or less for delivery. My Ocado anytime smart pass really does work out VERY expensive for one delivery per week........ (And still no slots beyond 30th October).....

I've booked another Waitrose slot for next week, my annoyance was due to 2, probably really petty things...

1. I'm still not deemed worthy enough for the app.
2. There is loads of M&S basic stuff like Rice Pudding OOS

They keep substituting frozen raspberries for frozen blueberries.

So I have been booking an occasional shop from Waitrose to supplement Ocado. It also means I can get the occasional free paper at the weekend. And Waitrose don't charge for delivery.

I do feel this is a very privileged position to be in though, to have all this lovely food delivered to me. (very first world issue, as they say!)

Can anyone explain this weirdness?

(I was looking because the branded calves liver in my last Ocado order was missing & not substituted, although there is an M&S equivalent, but apparently that’s out of stock too )

Nope! Calves liver all round. But Waitrose just refuses to find it when I’m logged in (I tried the website again after logging in, & it disappeared, as on the app) That makes it look like an OOS issue on delivery date - but why not just show it as OOS, as Ocado does?

Could it be that they can’t supply it from your local store?
