How many toilet rolls do you have and what kind are they? Lighthearted!

I keep reading about toilet rolls on here and in the news and got to wondering how many people have in the house. Number of toilets, people and any medical issues will affect this of course.

I'm a prepper since brexit loomed but before then I always bought in packs of at least 9 every 1-2 weeks depending on if it was on offer. I've continued to keep well stocked since having children really because the horrors like to shove entire new rolls down the loo, or unravel them on the bathroom floor, or use them as hamster bedding

So, I have 3 toilets
4 people in the house (3 females, 1 male)
3 of us have medical issues
I have 90 rolls of Andrex quilted because I took advantage of an offer on amazon a while ago and purchased 50 not realising I had 40 already as some of them were hidden in the cupboard. So I'm good for about 6 months I think! I have at no point panic bought. Just added a pack every 1-2 weeks with my online shop as normal over the past 18 months, apart from the amazon order which was a sensible bulk buy and future no deal brexit prep.

I did try the Who Gives A Crap stuff but wasn't a fan. It's got to be quilted. My mum prefers non-quilted though but insists on andrex and did t like WGAC either. She has some emergency rolls in her brexit cupboard though Grin

Tell me about your loo roll to distract me from various unpleasant things in life right now.

I got my first box of of Who gives a crap, I think it’s ok, it’s nice and soft. Works out more expensive than the recycled toilet paper I normally get from Sainsbury’s though. And now I’m getting endless ads from toilet paper Companies on Instagram!

So I have 47 rolls left from that box, plus another 13 I have from Sainsbury’s. 2 toilets, 4 people. No idea how long it will last!

Is this a parody thread or one started by MN spammers to keep the site humming? Or maybe the OP is pissed and posting.....

Nellodee · 24/09/2020 23:00

I still have 75631 of the 75667 I bought in the first panic. I'm thinking of selling them on Ebay.

Oh god don’t talk to me about loo roll. DP has always had an irrational fear of us running out of loo roll and we have always had a bloody castle of it towering in the spare room. The loo roll shortage has only spurred him on now and has him convince that his hoarding is only a good thing. We have about 50 and there’s 2 of us. It’s ridiculous.

Bercows is a regular poster

She's definitely unreasonable though!!

Quilted TP is horrible!!

I don't know how many rolls - but quite a few. I don't do 'running out'...

Has to be Andrex. The normal stuff - not quilted, no added colours/fragrances etc.

Tequilamockinbird · 24/09/2020 23:04

I have 72 as Amazon delivered today.

I have them on subscribe and save so have 72 delivered every 3 months.

Also, they're Andrex Grin

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 24/09/2020 23:05

I have 4 toilets.
4 people
And we all have about half a roll left
Some pocket tissues in the medicine cupboard Grin

Hope the shops havent sold out again ffs

HistoriaTrixie · 24/09/2020 23:07

We have 34 rolls left out of a 36 pack of the good stuff. Thicker than struggle TP but not three layers thick either.

Nellodee · 24/09/2020 23:08

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast you are living life on the edge!

Nellodee · 24/09/2020 23:09

And can I interest you in any Andrex, only £7.99 a roll?

SistemaAddict · 24/09/2020 23:20

I once read that coloured TP was "vulgar." I think it was in Debrett's. A uni friend once said you could always tell the tone of a place by the quality of the bog roll Grin
I quite like the M&S one with stars on but it's not quilted. Looks nice in the downstairs loo at Christmas though.

3 loos. I currently have 8 rolls spring force from Tesco. I only buy the cheap stuff.

My dd works at Home Bargains so I always had a constant supply even in the darkest of loo roll shortage days. Hand gel was a bit dodgy for a few weeks till they found a new supplier.

Bogrollseverywhere · 24/09/2020 23:20

Ok, I,ve name changed as I’ve told friends this story and don’t want to out myself.

We currently have over 200 bog rolls. This is because dh ordered 10 bundles of 6 packets of 9 bog rolls in combination of panic over brexit/special offer on amazon/play a joke on the wife back in 2019 sometime, waaaay before Covid so nothing to do with that.

So he decided to take advantage of the amazon offer and later admitted he’s at work sniggering to himself wondering when the amazon delivery that I don’t know about is going to arrive at home. And at some point it does, and after the driver gives me the 4th bundle I say (genuinely) I hope that’s it! At which the driver gives me a funny/dirty look and brings out 6 more!

When dh gets home that night he practically falls over it all as he comes through the door as the dc have made a ‘bed’ out of it in the hallway. The remains are currently in a big pile on the landing as theres nowhere else to put the bloody things.

But I was able to help a few people out over lockdown and will do the same again, my friends know we have it and are welcome to some if necessary.

Black market bogrolls’r’us

I also have a loo roll subscription, I get 48 rolls delivered every couple of months although I think I am going to have to increase it now that DS is toilet trained. We only have one loo.

I was most put out this week when our loo rolls arrived in clear plastic rather than in a box, now the whole nieghbourhood probably thinks I am a loo roll hoarder Grin

DowntonCrabby · 24/09/2020 23:31

Loads! We did a groupon deal a few weeks ago but now the delivery driver knows where we live for when the looting starts ShockGrin

ouch321 · 24/09/2020 23:42

I bought a 9 pack at Wilko today where there seemed to be plenty.

I only like 3ply stuff.

MRex · 25/09/2020 00:17

3 toilets.
3 people.
Andrex Supreme Quilts.
Number - no idea, enough.

I have had a fear of being without bog roll since uni flatshares. There's always a few spare rolls by each toilet. I buy a 9-pack or 16-pack that lives by the bath with more, maybe 3 left in it now and a new 16-pack due on Saturday. I also have an emergency bathroom stool-full that I've not counted, maybe 30-40; as soon as we dip into that it's my "must order on next delivery" stage. During lockdown I don't think we bought any toilet roll until late June and there were still a couple of rolls in the stool. It turned out the few right at the bottom were the old fat Charmin rolls, a quick search on their brand name change told me that meant they were minimum 10 years old. While they don't have an official expiry date, that seems quite long, so they finally got their fleeting turn in the sun with Andrex stuffed down into the dark in their place.

OpheliasCrayon · 25/09/2020 07:05

What I have is inflammatory bowel disease. So what I do when people start panic buying hundreds and leaving none, is genuinely panic. Because I do need a lot more than "normal " people. I cried the other night when I realised what was going on and didn't sleep because I was so worried. Peoples actions have actual impacts on those of us who need things for actual reasons. It isn't fair

OpheliasCrayon · 25/09/2020 07:07

Because furthermore when people panic buy and then there is a limit on numbers that you can take at one time..... Meaning I can't get what I genuinely need to buy and have alwsys needed to buy, it's bloody embarrassing having to find a store manager to ask permission to buy more than Is allowed to meet your medical needs

WokesFromHome · 25/09/2020 07:08

4 people, 5 toilets.
About 100 loo rolls
About 10 packets of Aldi baby toilet wipes. DH and Dcx 2 are precious and like to finish with a wet wipe.

I've tried and tested lots of loo roll and find Aldi mega packs of 4 or 3 ply the best value and softest.

Pelleas · 25/09/2020 07:10

About 12 Tesco loo rolls I think.

There are two of us.

badlydrawnbear · 25/09/2020 07:13

4 people, 1 toilet, 9 loo rolls Tesco own brand, because we were running out and I was passing Tesco.

Pipandmum · 25/09/2020 07:16

Four toilets, three people. I have about 20 rolls as always buy big packs and one arrived yesterday. Usually Cushelle but they were out so received Andrex as a sub.
There was a shortage during lockdown but you could still buy toilet paper. I had mistakenly ordered two bulk packets two weeks in a row before lockdown so didn't have to buy any at all. Ran out of tuna and sweetcorn though, which my son eats daily.
