How many toilet rolls do you have and what kind are they? Lighthearted!

I keep reading about toilet rolls on here and in the news and got to wondering how many people have in the house. Number of toilets, people and any medical issues will affect this of course.

I'm a prepper since brexit loomed but before then I always bought in packs of at least 9 every 1-2 weeks depending on if it was on offer. I've continued to keep well stocked since having children really because the horrors like to shove entire new rolls down the loo, or unravel them on the bathroom floor, or use them as hamster bedding

So, I have 3 toilets
4 people in the house (3 females, 1 male)
3 of us have medical issues
I have 90 rolls of Andrex quilted because I took advantage of an offer on amazon a while ago and purchased 50 not realising I had 40 already as some of them were hidden in the cupboard. So I'm good for about 6 months I think! I have at no point panic bought. Just added a pack every 1-2 weeks with my online shop as normal over the past 18 months, apart from the amazon order which was a sensible bulk buy and future no deal brexit prep.

I did try the Who Gives A Crap stuff but wasn't a fan. It's got to be quilted. My mum prefers non-quilted though but insists on andrex and did t like WGAC either. She has some emergency rolls in her brexit cupboard though Grin

Tell me about your loo roll to distract me from various unpleasant things in life right now.

About 130, I already had loads, then the white Andrex went on offer at Amazon in the summer so I bought 45 and then my favourite Andrex pebble (peach colour) went on offer at Amazon with subscribe and save about a month ago so another 45 bought, I stack them in the dead space at the side of the wardrobe, I won’t need any for a while now. My favourite pebble ones hadn’t been on offer for about a year so that is why I snapped them up, can’t miss a bargain. There is only two of us but if DS wanted a nine pack then he could have one. I bulk buy everything like tissues and cleaning stuff also, I hate supermarkets so mainly get from Amazon

RoseDog · 25/09/2020 07:20

We have 1 bathroom used by 4 adults and one unused toilet roll and one nearly finished, I do have a Morrison's shop booked for this morning with a 9 pack of andrex so fingers crossed that comes as we go through about a roll a day here!

Marmite27 · 25/09/2020 07:20

4 Aldi 4 ply in the bathroom. Pack of 12 on the wardrobe.

There’s also 12 Asda shades stuck up there at the back that I can’t reach but in a dire emergency would make an effort to get to.

I also had cheeky reusable wipes for the kids when they were tiny. So would go to family cloth for number ones and keep flushable paper for number twos if it came to it.

Jrobhatch29 · 25/09/2020 07:22

They didn't have my normal 4 pack in my delivery last week so they substituted with a coconut scented 9 pack. Win!

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 25/09/2020 07:23

dh is popping to waitrose today for another 9 pack.

KatherineJaneway · 25/09/2020 07:23

16 oack Waitrose own brand, small pack of 4 and the end of a Tesco 9 pack (plus what's on the toilet roll holders).

JacobReesMogadishu · 25/09/2020 07:24

3 people and about 30 rolls.

Andrex, 18 Roll packs were on offer in the shop earlier in the week so I got one earlier than I needed as it was a good price.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 25/09/2020 07:24

oh, might ask dh to get a 16 pack, push the boat out!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/09/2020 07:29

4 toilets, 2 adults plus three dc back and forth.

Favourite loo roll is Waitrose own 9 pack. I imagine that is running out in shops.

I have had two boxes from Who Gives A Crap, quite like it, have most of one box left so around 45 rolls.

AlwaysLatte · 25/09/2020 07:32

4 loos, each has a little slim cupboard that I keep loo rolls in and like everything else I keep it topped up as it gets used like I always do, there are usually about 8 in each cupboard. We just use plain white supermarket 'me too' Andrex type stuff.

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/09/2020 07:34

3 people (one of which is a pretty much 2 year old).
Have about 55 rolls in the cupboard as we got our regular Groupon order of 45 rolls last week

SealionsAndSand · 25/09/2020 07:35

@OpheliasCrayon

What I have is inflammatory bowel disease. So what I do when people start panic buying hundreds and leaving none, is genuinely panic. Because I do need a lot more than "normal " people. I cried the other night when I realised what was going on and didn't sleep because I was so worried. Peoples actions have actual impacts on those of us who need things for actual reasons. It isn't fair
Why wouldn't you have slowly stocked up then?

No one should be relying on JIT supplies this time. First time I felt for people, I was actually caught out myself as I had forgotten to get look roll in the shop and had just enough, I thought, until the next week's shop.

Needless to say I've been buying slightly more each week to build a stick.

husbandcallsmepickle · 25/09/2020 07:35

2 adults, 2 loos. I bought a 48 pack from Who Gives A Crap at the beginning of May and we have about 6 left.

TheGreatWave · 25/09/2020 07:38

I have 2 packs of 18 in the loft for my full on emergency stash.

7 in the cupboard and possibly 2 in the downstairs bathroom.

Buy Nicky from Home Bargains.

Khajit · 25/09/2020 07:42

24 packs of Charmin were on offer in Tesco so we have some fancy branded stuff for a change!

Normally I'm a supermarket own brand shopper. Got that pack and maybe another 4 rolls in the bathrooms. Family of 4.

cricketmum84 · 25/09/2020 07:51

3 toilets and 4 people. I had 18 shea butter rolls delivered yesterday and a 6 pack of Lidl's cheapest in the cupboard.

You can always tell when it's me that's done the shopping rather than DH as he refuses to buy anything but the very very cheapest.

starfish4 · 25/09/2020 07:53

42 - don't know why but I've always had a minimum of 27. Tesco's springforce as would rather have the spare money for other things.

OpheliasCrayon · 25/09/2020 08:11

@SealionsAndSand I do always have some of course. I also have a young family so we do. But my point was really that I don't feel panic buying is something I want to contribute to. There are tons of vulnerable people not just me and I don't want to take away loads from the shops. I buy a reasonable amount because doing more would in my view be selfish. My point is though, that when it gets to this point and people are starting panic buying again, when I go and buy what I usually buy , which I need to buy, then I feel that I need to justify myself. And then, when they put limits on it , I have to ask to buy more because it's what I usually do. I refuse to contribute to this situation by panic buying but then ultimately if it gets bad then I would have to. I do stock up, I wouldn't leave myself without. But I was saying that whilst this is a light-hearted thread...for some of us it's very stressful

Bonkerz · 25/09/2020 08:13

Have 24 left from a delivery we got in April. Scheduled delivery of 60 due next week. We have bought in bulk for years though as it's cheaper that way!! So since April we have used about 50 loo rolls 2 adults and 2 children.

CrunchyCarrot · 25/09/2020 08:24

Hi Bercows. :) I do have a fair amount in the loft, gathered during Brexit prepping. I don't buy it very often, now. I think we have around 45 up there and a 9-pack downstairs. Just two of us here.

I really loathe quilted toilet roll, and also the recycled stuff, so I'm in the medium quality camp, if there is such a thing! Grin

I don't really understand the general public's obsession with loo rolls though, I'd rather have food!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 25/09/2020 10:08

Not sure how many but I know it's a lot however I'm not panic buying, I've always kept a large stash of toilet roll due to both of us having stomach issues! Oh and it's Ocado own brand, although there might be a pack of Cushelle lurking in the cupboard.

ForeverRedSkinhead · 25/09/2020 10:15

We had a delivery of 24 from The Good Roll about a week and a half ago. I've not counted but we have possibly about 21 rolls left.

No stockpiling here , we just like their products.

BarbaraofSeville · 25/09/2020 10:24

We have about 50 and there’s 2 of us. It’s ridiculous

Why is it ridiculous? It's not as ridiculous as paying twice as much per roll because you buy a 4 pack every week or two? Who does that unless you have absolutely zero spare money? It's not like it will go off before you use it.

We also have around 50 and there's two of us, because we were getting to the bottom of our last Costco pack so when we went to Costco this week, because we were running out of a few things we normally get from there, we bought some toilet roll, which comes in a 45 pack. Although I was annoyed that the Costco branded version had run out, so we had to get the inferior and more expensive Charmin.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 25/09/2020 10:32

We have a Who Gives A Crap subscription, down to about 20 now. Expecting another delivery in the near future...

BeyondsConstantBangingHeadache · 25/09/2020 10:43

I have maybe four nine-packs of the Asda aloe Vera one.

Four in the house, two adult females and two children. All four of us have a form of ibs, then DW also has awful periods that resemble that scene from Carrie. I also get a flare of psoriasis-of-the-undercarriage if I use a different type, so have to make sure I have this particular one.
