How many toilet rolls do you have and what kind are they? Lighthearted!

I keep reading about toilet rolls on here and in the news and got to wondering how many people have in the house. Number of toilets, people and any medical issues will affect this of course.

I'm a prepper since brexit loomed but before then I always bought in packs of at least 9 every 1-2 weeks depending on if it was on offer. I've continued to keep well stocked since having children really because the horrors like to shove entire new rolls down the loo, or unravel them on the bathroom floor, or use them as hamster bedding

So, I have 3 toilets
4 people in the house (3 females, 1 male)
3 of us have medical issues
I have 90 rolls of Andrex quilted because I took advantage of an offer on amazon a while ago and purchased 50 not realising I had 40 already as some of them were hidden in the cupboard. So I'm good for about 6 months I think! I have at no point panic bought. Just added a pack every 1-2 weeks with my online shop as normal over the past 18 months, apart from the amazon order which was a sensible bulk buy and future no deal brexit prep.

I did try the Who Gives A Crap stuff but wasn't a fan. It's got to be quilted. My mum prefers non-quilted though but insists on andrex and did t like WGAC either. She has some emergency rolls in her brexit cupboard though Grin

Tell me about your loo roll to distract me from various unpleasant things in life right now.

about to have 5 x 9 ... plus the six or so rolls that are already in the house.....

And not because of Covid but because I love the Andrex Puppies on a Roll and supermarkets have stopped selling them.... a lot cheaper to get 5 bags on line than just a couple!

AuntieMarys · 25/09/2020 18:54
  1. 3 toilets but only 2 of us. Quilted Sainsbury's own brand.
ShakespearesSisters · 25/09/2020 18:57

@Squiz81

I got my first box of of Who gives a crap, I think it’s ok, it’s nice and soft. Works out more expensive than the recycled toilet paper I normally get from Sainsbury’s though. And now I’m getting endless ads from toilet paper Companies on Instagram!

So I have 47 rolls left from that box, plus another 13 I have from Sainsbury’s. 2 toilets, 4 people. No idea how long it will last!

I have used who gives a crap for a year. 2 adults, 2 girls age 6 and 8. 48 rolls lasts me about 6 months. I only get it delivered every 6 months and I haven't run out yet. Had a delivery last moth so I'm set for quiet a while.

We are a three loo household, and currently have about a dozen lo rolls in stock. I buy Lidl’s bog-standard ones.

Bog-standard, geddit? Grin

Three adults here, I have IBS. I get Who Gives a Crap every four months, but put in an extra order last week as I really don’t want to worry about running out. When I get my regular delivery in about three weeks I’ll have enough to last till next June! I’m more worried about Brexit interrupting supplies rather than COVID panic buying. If things work out ok in the new year I’ll cancel my February delivery.

newtb · 25/09/2020 19:36

Used to depend when it was on special offer at Costco

Now I live on my own, no dd and no Stbxh I'm surprised how long it lasts. He used to line the pan with a few yards to avoid splashes, and dd used to ream off an indeterminate arm's length. So, 9 if I've just bought a pack, supermarket own brand, 2ply

When at home my late 'd'm thought any more than 3 squares at a time was excessive and wasteful. At least she didn' t use Izal, only good for tracing paper imo.

TankGirl97 · 25/09/2020 19:44

We are a family of five, I get a Who Gives a Crap delivery of 48 rolls every six months. Just had a delivery this week so we're set for the winter!

Rainyrain · 25/09/2020 21:07

I’ve just had a delivery of 90 Andrex from Amazon and probably had about 15 in the house before that.

4 toilets, 4 adults, 2 teens, 1 child and a potty training toddler.

The thought of running out of loo roll is very stressful in this house!

(I’ve also just stocked up on wine and chocolate)

ouch321 · 25/09/2020 21:17

Went into Morrisons this eve - NW London- and the loo roll aisle was indeed 80% empty.

DeliciouslyFemale · 25/09/2020 21:32

I’m more fascinated by how many bathrooms some people have! 😁

MRex · 26/09/2020 08:33

Correction, I am not receiving my toilet paper as I so confidently noted above, it has been removed from my Ocado delivery with no replacement. Oh well, it'll sort out in a few weeks when the panic buyers stock up, onto the stool supplies for us next week.

MRex · 26/09/2020 08:49

Just spotted they are sending 8 lurpak though in substitution for my normal 2 lurpak with olive oil. EIGHT. EIGHT!!! Do they think we're going to wipe our arses with butter!?!?

Scarlettpixie · 26/09/2020 08:54

Two of us here - 3 toilets! I use WGAC and love it. A roll lasts ages. I think we have about 25 left and next delivery (48) is November.

DeliciouslyFemale · 26/09/2020 11:21

I’m sorry but I laughed at stool supplies. 😁
betteroffdead · 26/09/2020 11:27

about 121 rolls

3 adults, 2 bathrooms, all with IBS

MRex · 26/09/2020 11:35

@DeliciouslyFemale - thank you. It's a cupboard really, but we can sit on it so I decided to rename it more suitably to its purpose.

It’s perfect. 😁

My 88 year old FIL died in February. He had 68 toilet rolls stacked in spare room. This lasted throughout lockdown for us family of 4 adults. I had a Tesco delivery yesterday where I ordered 24 of their soft toilet paper, but what I got was 3 packs of 9, so we are ok.

oldmapie · 26/09/2020 11:55

Sponge on a stick works well for usGrin

LindaEllen · 26/09/2020 12:08

I don't know if this is a joke thread but I'll answer anyway!

We actually use very, very little TP. There's 3 of us. DP never uses it (wipes for poos!) and DSS never seems to poo here - as weird as it sounds, he doesn't. I assume he must do it at college, then he's at his mum's for the weekends. I know when he is, as he pretty much makes an event of it. It's the highlight of his day.

Anyway.

1 bathroom. I had a full 36 pack before the first lockdown, so didn't even enter into the panic buying. However in about June, DP brought some home from work, another 36 pack (I'm not actually sure why) and only this week have I finally taken the last roll from the first pack. So 36 rolls have lasted us since before the lockdown in March.

MRex · 26/09/2020 15:24

Oh wow. A delivery driver just said he had to take 26* 9-packs of toilet paper to a customer this morning. Normal house. What do people think they'll do with it all? Craft projects?

Cornettoninja · 26/09/2020 15:33

Tbh I wish supermarkets would just limit purchases of all the panic buying stock (toilet rolls, dried pasta, rice, yeast etc.) while this is all going on. This run on stuff has just irritated me. Shops didn’t close or run out during lockdown why would they now? And is it really that much of a disaster to run out? Just wash your arse if it comes to it!

NerrSnerr · 26/09/2020 15:37

There are 4 of us and 2 toilets. We have about 17 Morrison's regular toilet rolls. Just been to the supermarket but didn't top up as there will be more than enough until next week.

NerrSnerr · 26/09/2020 15:38

Oh and our supermarket toilet roll isle was full, same with pasta. Only thing i couldn't get was a bag of lemons.

Porcupineinwaiting · 26/09/2020 15:46

I'd have no problem w rationing key items as long as it's not too restrictive - I am shopping for 3 households and have been since April.
