How many toilet rolls do you have and what kind are they? Lighthearted!

I keep reading about toilet rolls on here and in the news and got to wondering how many people have in the house. Number of toilets, people and any medical issues will affect this of course.

I'm a prepper since brexit loomed but before then I always bought in packs of at least 9 every 1-2 weeks depending on if it was on offer. I've continued to keep well stocked since having children really because the horrors like to shove entire new rolls down the loo, or unravel them on the bathroom floor, or use them as hamster bedding

So, I have 3 toilets
4 people in the house (3 females, 1 male)
3 of us have medical issues
I have 90 rolls of Andrex quilted because I took advantage of an offer on amazon a while ago and purchased 50 not realising I had 40 already as some of them were hidden in the cupboard. So I'm good for about 6 months I think! I have at no point panic bought. Just added a pack every 1-2 weeks with my online shop as normal over the past 18 months, apart from the amazon order which was a sensible bulk buy and future no deal brexit prep.

I did try the Who Gives A Crap stuff but wasn't a fan. It's got to be quilted. My mum prefers non-quilted though but insists on andrex and did t like WGAC either. She has some emergency rolls in her brexit cupboard though Grin

Tell me about your loo roll to distract me from various unpleasant things in life right now.

Tbh I wish supermarkets would just limit purchases of all the panic buying stock (toilet rolls, dried pasta, rice, yeast etc.)
Agree. They should have learned from last time, just restrict the panic items for a few weeks and there'll be no problem.

We are actually out of loo roll and can't find any ffs😂

NiknicK · 26/09/2020 16:28

I have a pack of 9 in my main bathroom a pack of 4 in the downstairs loo and one pack
of 9 under the stairs. I was always loyal to Andrex but since covid and when people went ridiculous buying them all up I’m now an Aldi convert and buy their softer quilted pack. Just the same but loads cheaper.

5 loos and probably about 20 in stock, rarely more although I would normally restock when down to 10.

95 Andrex Classic. Just the two of us. When I couldn't get any for six weeks in spring and had to pay jacked- up prices on EBay for some unknown rough brand, I started putting a pack in my trolley every week as a matter of course.

Should have added I was on shielding category and have no family or friends nearby to help.

Our ancient narrow plumbing can only deal with a specific cheap 2-ply version that only Lidl make (used to be all the supermarkets but they all gradually one-by-one stopped selling). Trouble is Lidl is 30 mins away through hideous traffic so when we go we buy a lot - that elicits looks and comments, but we have a good reason and it is not stockpiling or prepping. We just put up with the judging. Alternative is dynarod out every weekend.

Disconnect · 06/10/2020 11:13

Btw our version of 'a lot' is not Costco-level stockpiling! Quite reasonable really, but anything more than one packet will always make people judge. Hard to understand old narrow pipes unless you have lived with them before.

We have about 100 rolls. 2 toilets, 5 people. All shitey arses apart from ds2 who goes once a week. Dh has ibs and I think I have Bile Acid Malabsorption after having my gallbladder out about 8 years ago - eat or drink anything and it goes through me faster than a Ferrari!

A combination of usual packs bought with grocery shopping and Amazon subscribe and save.

LaBellina · 06/10/2020 11:17

Enough for a whole year. DH ordered IT about 2 months ago on Amazon after he saw a good offer. Don't like it at all because the paper is much too thin. Our local shop sells pink one with flower print that is rose scented and I love that one but will be will be stuck to this one for months Angry. Also it takes up too much space in the cup board.

Yes we only buy 2-ply now for same reason. Can't afford the plumbing bills.

I have seven. Standard recycled ones.

In the event of an actual loo roll shortage, DP has to go in to the office occasionally and will pinch a couple while he is there. Or the corner shop will have some, they were well stocked last time the supermarket didn't have any!

Okokokitsout · 06/10/2020 20:44

We get who gives a crap delivered. It's shipping tomorrow and I have maybe 10 rolls left. I haven't counted I just put them in the drawer in the bottom of the bed in the spare room. It's full when it's first delivered and then it is depleted the more comes. It's a simple thing but over the past two years I've loved never having to buy loo roll or more importantly never running out!

CalmConfident · 06/10/2020 20:52

Our first who gives a crap delivery arrived today, the DC were most amused by the box

Dee1975 · 06/10/2020 21:04

4 loos. 4 people.
Each loo prob has 1 or 2 spare. And I’ve only about 3 left in cupboard.
Will be buying whatever brand is on offer, or Tesco ones, this weekend!
