And I bet he's desperate to tell everyone to stop being stupidly selfish.

@merrymouse

For us (where I live) we feel betrayed and lied to as we still have 0 cases!

How do you live in a small town that has never had any cases - is it on a remote island?

God I wish!! 😂😂 No I live in a small seaside town with a very elderly population that has been full with tourists since travelling restrictions were lifted and as far as I'm aware and everyone I know is (the local press would have a field day if there was!) we have had 0 case's! In my county yes we have had some but very low! Some weeks we get a 50% increase so it goes from e.g 8 to 16 but in the percentage per population it has been and continues even due to the massive influx from people from around the country very low.

Rome Fiumicino airport. I landed from Athens at 16:40. Did free Covid test at 17.10. Got results at 17.40 (negative). No Boris, the reason the UK’s infection rates are worse than Italy’s isn’t because Brits are “freedom-loving”. It’s because you and your government are shite.

So pleased Italy is now doing comparatively well, not least because my elderly father lives there. And yes they do put us to shame.

But in Spain for example they have been very disciplined with their previous lockdown, and I don’t know what measures they have had in place since, or what accounts for their high rise in infections and now increasing deaths as well? Does anyone know?

Their current high rise in infections I mean.

Partly they think that the ridiculously harsh lockdown in spain meant that they have not got any herd immunity within the community.

Also they let nightclubs open over the summer (I'm not sure if this is still the case)

Those are the only two factors I know about for the rise there... happy to be re-educated!

PS I agree re other countries shaming us - we went to Madeira for a week in the summer, everyone arriving either had to take a test on arrival (with results received inside 12 hours) or have a negative test within 72 hours of arrival. OK, thats not going to capture everyone but the vast vast majority, surely? It felt so safe when we were there. If only we could've done something like that in the early summer...
