Thread number who knows , because I've lost count. We're adapting to normal 1.0 and lost our status as murderers. The grass is not off limits anymore and we can eat a bag of crisps outside with being accused of "premeditated picnics". Not a pan or pot in sight.

Oh well, there's still the second wave.Grin

A certain idiot left the freezer door open last night and now can't understand why I'm rolling my eyes and huffing and puffing. Wanker!

GnomeDePlume · 14/07/2020 19:27

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble oh no! Does this mean a spate of weird meal combinations to use everything up?

DarkHelmet once DD1 moves out then Operation Empty Nest starts. We have one of those tall thin town houses with three floors. We are moving DS up to the top floor and splitting his room into a dressing room off our bedroom and an office for me. DS will get a smaller bedroom but my current office will be turned into a snug for him (sofa and enormous TV).

I am having a lovely time planning it.

110APiccadilly · 14/07/2020 19:38

Gnome that sounds awesome!

ComeOn I think you're being pretty restrained to just huff and eye-roll!

GnomeDePlume · 14/07/2020 22:10

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble do you need any helpful suggestions for meals to use up defrosted food?

  • ice cream surpise? The surprise is haddock.
  • rhubarb & beef mince dip

Give us the things you need used up and I am sure we can make helpful suggestions.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 14/07/2020 22:15

No way we can use it all up. That's ok, said idiot can have his frozen meals. And I rescued a few bits for DD.

I obviously had to eat all the Baileys icecreams.Grin

Ohhh can I help with the redecorating? I love that kind of stuff!Grin

DarkHelmet · 14/07/2020 23:10

Ooh gnome that sounds fab, house shuffling plans afoot!

Come on ah what a shame about your frozen stuff! I've made some odd concoctions when I've had to use up defrosted stuff.. fish ginger pie was nice, chicken dipper curry not so much 😂

GnomeDePlume · 15/07/2020 06:13

These are the before and after plans.

ComeOn are you any good at choosing colours? Three rooms need to be painted and I am quickly getting overwhelmed by choice. This is the first time in over 20 years that I have free rein!

I want the snug to be just that, cosy & welcoming.
I want my office to be calm.

Any thoughts please?

I don't know about good, but I only have one white wall in my flat and that's due to necessity rather than choice.Grin

I'll have a think but it all depends on what you like and whether or not you want to be on trend.

GnomeDePlume · 15/07/2020 17:17

ComeOn we arent keen on white or off white. Never managed a trend in my life! We tend towards strong colours for one wall then something a bit calmer to tone it down on the other walls.

Dont worry it isnt a challenge! Just looked on another thread with a house apparently renovated with amongst other things a hunting print wall paper in the bathroom! We will never be heading down that route. We are also not into Farrow & Ball subtle shades of off white which you have to be in the F&B club to be able to see one from another.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 15/07/2020 17:46

I'd probably go pink and grey for the office, it's a combination I really like and I don't care it's sooo last year dahling! Or maybe a light blue/sage.And maybe cream and red for the snug. Or a warm purple. Or you could go really wild with a cheerful yellow.

Even the inside of my storage cupboards are painted! Pink and a dark blue.Grin

We've had turquoise, pink, yellow, red, blue (various shades), purple, aquamarine, light green and even some glitter walls and glow in the dark paint.🙈

Atm I ended up with 3 rooms in various shades of grey for some reason.

I read pink/grey before I clicked on it I wondered if I had acidentally slipped into an 80s throwback but actually when I looked at the pictures I do like the look.

Unless we repaint every year then by next year it will be last year! If I hold on long enough everything comes round again.

I was amazed when huge flower print wall papers came back in, I remember them from the 70s!

GnomeDePlume · 15/07/2020 21:07

Thank you for the suggestions, they have given me something else to think about

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 15/07/2020 21:36

I love trawling google and looking at stuff like that. We just did most of the flat and the bedroom will stay as is due to too much furniture. So I'm living vicariously through others. Helped a friend last night find a desk for her new home office.😬

If you start getting some idea of what you want tell me and I'll happily have a look.

GnomeDePlume · 15/07/2020 22:18

Thank you ComeOn. I was in the company office today and was reminded just how awful the colours are there. Some of the walls are a particularly bilious green! Anyone who sits facing one of these walls spends their day being asked by colleagues if they're okay as the colour reflects off them!

Willow2017 · 16/07/2020 00:33

That sounds a lot of work Gnome but exciting too. Chosing colours is a nightmare! Good luck.
(Mr parents had a grey and pink kitchen many moons ago which i helped paint. It was lovely and fresh but calm and welcoming too.)

Still haven't done my hallway I need to get my finger out!

110APiccadilly · 16/07/2020 17:00

What is it about offices and billious green? Often with chairs which seem to have been carefully chosen to be a shade of green which neither matches nor compliments the wall.

DarkHelmet · 16/07/2020 20:25

Ooh gnome some nice suggestions there, and a lot of work to be done! I can't wait to move and start decorating a new place.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 16/07/2020 20:36

Yay last day tomorrow! Weird to be looking forward to it after being at home for so long. Guess I'm more back to normal than I thought.Grin

Really happy that DD's school is doing breakfast club next year, otherwise I'd get to work AFTER the kids! Tried to book it already(they said limited spaces and need to book in advance) but not open yet for next year.

GnomeDePlume · 16/07/2020 21:32

Willow2017 I downloaded a Dulux app on my phone and keep disappearing down a rabbit hole of colour combinations.

110APiccadilly our office colour combination is a result of malice aforethought. It is supposed to make us work harder, work faster, do more. And no, the chairs dont match, contrast or complement.

It will be a lot of work DarkHelmet, I will hide in my old office and leave DH to it until he needs someone to hold stuff (I'm good at passing tools and holding bits of wood).

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 16/07/2020 22:06

Gnome maybe you shouldn't tale advice from me after all. I just ordered these .BlushGrinGrin

Come on oh I love that! My DD2 would love it even more - she's going through a flamingo phase! I have cats in witches hats riding broomsticks on my duvet cover. Gotta love Asda living for funky furnishings 😂

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 16/07/2020 22:29

I'll let you know about the quality when it arrives then. It was under £15 for a king size.
