Just to confirm, I did yesterday receive an email Confirming the app is returning gradually so I guess people will see it working again bit by bit.

Apologies for the premature "announcement".

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 03/07/2020 11:45

Don't apologise - it's exciting!

I love the app. This week I completely failed to order much needed contact lens solution because I added it to the next order by mistake. With the app everything just falls into my basket so naturally ...

shallwethree · 03/07/2020 13:15

I've been an Ocado customer for about 15 years and have had fortnightly deliveries (with anytime delivery pass) for just over a year - I was going to cancel when my year was up in April, as I'm happy to go for the free slots no one else wants (wanted!), but it seemed prudent to let it renew.

Like previous posters, I haven't received any emails (other than delivery confirmations) for a few months now, so no anniversary gift, nothing about what delivery schedule I'm on (easy enough to work out now I know I can log on any time), no free Toblerone, no flash sale emails (I suppose they might have stopped for the moment - but if they haven't a link to the sale page would be wonderful!).

There are some Waitrose goodies we like (the Colombian coffee ice cream sticks are fab). But I'll give the M&S tie-up a go.

Ontheboardwalk · 03/07/2020 15:42

I just don’t understand why they aren’t offering more slots to more people.

My delivery is coming at 5 today, it’s saying my next available delivery slot is Sunday teatime. I don’t need another delivery on Sunday offer it to someone else!!

Before lockdown I survived quite well with a weekly delivery with a mid week top up every couple of weeks for household stuff. I can cope fine with once a week.

Wolfcub · 03/07/2020 17:39

I'd love the app to come back. I was supposed to have a delivery last week but I'm adding something extra to it must have missed a final button to fully check out and therefore no shopping. Wouldn't have happened on the app. Off to look for Columbia coffee sticks now

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 21:44

Ooh as someone who inexplicably is no longer being emailed by Ocado, what’s the email about the app?

BentBastard · 03/07/2020 21:47

This was the email I got (well a small SS of it).

So I guess they will trickle it through FB to customers. Looks like I got lucky to be in the first wave.

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 21:50

I can get a delivery 3 times a week but still no toberlone . What are they doing! And why open up so many deliveries !

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 21:53

@BentBastard thank you!
It’s so weird . I’ve had deliveries all the way though but only worked it out through this thread. They just stopped emailing me. So I’ve been ok and I’m not cross but it’s very odd plus I have no chocolate ! And I don’t need deliveries more than once a week. I hope that means others get the slots

BentBastard · 03/07/2020 21:55

I realised the app was working because I had a delivery that day and got a notification about it through the app so I tried it and voila! It was a day or two later that I got that email.

Their email communication has been poor throughout!

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 21:57

Sorry I just read earlier- when they go to m&s can we get knickers? I was just remarking to
Dd that I really needed some new non holey underwear - I can manage without a hair cut , pub or dinner Out but I would love some comfy knickers

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 21:59

I’ve been liberated throughout this by not caring how I look at all (single!) for first time ever but my knickers have really had it.

As you were Blush

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 03/07/2020 22:11

I've shopped regularly with Ocado since 2005 and regularly had loyalty rewards, but my delivery pass ran out in February, couldn't renew and I haven't been able to get a slot with them since except through my neighbour's account. This week they sent an email saying I was a valued customer blah blah.

Too bad. I'm taking my custom elsewhere now, spending my money where the retailer gave two shits when it mattered most.

FlamingoAndJohn · 03/07/2020 22:12

I believe there is going to be a selection of M&S clothes and homewares available, like their used to be with John Lewis homeware when it was partnered with Waitrose.
If they don’t do knickers I’ll be staggered.

tootyfruitypickle · 03/07/2020 22:13

Wonder how that will work with subs!

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 03/07/2020 23:24

... knickers ...

Wonder how that will work with subs!

"Just hand them back to your driver ..."

UntamedShrew · 03/07/2020 23:53

Just take the bloody bags back! I think we’ve all learned by now that a pile of plastic that’s been sat in a drawer for four months is unlikely to be a seething hotbed of viral particles?!

Oh and the app. I’d like the app. Keep the toblerone just gimme the app and a kitchen drawer back and I’m yours for life!

Quarantino · 04/07/2020 00:26

Another Colombian Coffee ice cream sticks fan here, for years! Just had one actually... luckily I have a local Waitrose to keep me supplied, although buggered if I can get a delivery slot ever. Ocado is the only one I've ever been able to get.

I'll definitely keep with Ocado if I can get M&S underwear on it! and kids' clothes....?? go on, go on M&S

FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich · 05/07/2020 11:11

Your local food bank or charity shop will be able to use the spare carrier bags, or put them in a plastic recycling bin?

OP posts:
DopamineHits · 05/07/2020 14:38

Most recycling bins/centres only take plastic like bottles and tubs. I think bags need a different recycling process. If I don't get an email before the end of the week about the bags I'm just going to start using them as mini rubbish bags.

TheNewLook · 05/07/2020 17:38

I’m going to be quids in when they start taking the bags back. I’ve got thousands!

CountTessa · 07/07/2020 17:35

Has anyone else noticed a hike in the prices of delivery? Can't get a slot for less than £7.

WallsKOL · 07/07/2020 19:21

Hi all
I have a general Ocado question if anyone can help.
My Dad has a degenerative disease but has had family member living with who has done the shopping for both of them.
This arrangement is coming to an end. Dad cannot walk to the shops so we are frantically looking for alternatives (he lives hours away from us)
The question is if we manage to get a delivery for him do the delivery drivers bring the shopping into the house ? He cannot carry anything as he can only walk with a tri-walker. He can put stuff away he just can’t carry anything.
I understand Covid restrictions etc but we are desperate to get food to him !

minipie · 07/07/2020 19:24

WallsKol I don’t know what Ocado would say about drivers coming in, the problem I guess is that you get lots of different drivers so some may be happy to but others not.

I wondered if some kind of wheeled trolley might help - if he puts it by the front door, the driver puts the bags into it, could he pull it somehow to the kitchen? Sorry that may be a terrible idea but just a thought.

ButtonMoonLoon · 07/07/2020 19:50

@CountTessa

Yep, it’s so frustrating! My mid week expired in March....and they haven’t made it available since so now it’s take out an anytime pass for £100 per year or pay £6.99 per delivery! How they think they’re going to keep customers I don’t know.
