Carrying on from the last Ocado thread that is about to fill up. Still haven’t been given a toblerone yet.

And YES I have a Waitrose slot for the 23rd (can edit until noon the previous day). A huge thanks to @CoteFolie (and DH can even see the point of my valuable Mumsnetting). I have an early slot, but I think I have a fighting chance of getting food as they usually stack the shelves from about 7pm/overnight.

I don't get deliveries from Waitrose very often, but the staff are really good at following the notes about what/how to sub and approximate sizes (on things like parsnips or fish). If they run out of cream and fruit juice etc, I'll be able to nip out to a corner shop/local Coop or manage without.

Our Waitrose and M&S normally turn into bearpits at Christmas, so goodness knows what the queues will be like if we go back into lockdown.

Hi all! I'm glad I've been reading this thread because I started checking the use by dates. I discovered that something in my order expired a week before it was delivered to me. Surely keeping an eye on these things is a fairly fundamental part of selling food? Mind you, I once bought specialist flour from Sainsbury's which had reached its expiry date three years before I'd bought it! Shock

I'll be more eagle eyed when I'm unpacking the shopping in future. Not just looking out for my semi-regular "missing but charged for" item. Ocado likes to keep me on my toes! Grin

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 07/10/2020 17:57

Oh, for goodness' sake! Never mind Christmas, I apparently can't manage even everyday ordering properly. I have Ocado and a veg box being delivered tomorrow. And one more Ocado delivery confirmed. It's twenty minutes after Ocado cut off time - and I've just realised I've entirely failed to order any fruit at all between the two deliveries. ConfusedAngry

Pretty sure I kept assuming that all the fruit was on the other list.

This on top of no tomatoes coming. Forgot them in the veg box delivery; nothing at all attractive in stock at Ocado.

Am I losing my mind, or is it just sick of online ordering?

Wisteria1979 · 07/10/2020 18:16

I am the most organised food shopper normally. Never without anything and regular slots with normal staples. In the last month or so I have forgotten to order milk three times. THREE. When we get through 16 pints a week. At least.

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 07/10/2020 18:27

Grin Oh dear ...

I don't feel so bad now!

Werk · 07/10/2020 18:39

I have had the email.... Christmas slots out tomorrow apparently (for smartpass holders anyway).

Wisteria1979 · 07/10/2020 19:07

Also just had the Christmas email! Will get in early with 5 bottles of gin Grin

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/10/2020 19:37

No email here! Maybe they’re going to “forget” that I’m a smart pass holder spending over £400 a month with them like they did during March and April........

PowerslidePanda · 07/10/2020 20:01

No email for me either. Those of you who did get one - are you in the group that's allowed to book slots 4 weeks in advance? (Normal slots, I mean - not Christmas). I'm a lowly 3-weeks-in-advance customer and wondering if we've been deliberately excluded...

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2020 20:06

I've just had the Christmas email saying I can book a slot tomorrow. I think it's just for smartpass holders, as far as I remember it gives you earlier access to the Christmas timeslots.

@PowerslidePanda yes I can book normal slots 4 weeks in advance.

PowerslidePanda · 07/10/2020 20:30

Thanks @Shellingbynight. I'm an Anytime Smartpass holder too - not sure why we aren't all getting equal treatment!

goldpendant · 07/10/2020 20:44

I've had the Christmas email (very excited) and yes I think we can book 4 weeks in advance.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/10/2020 20:53

@PowerslidePanda

Thanks *@Shellingbynight*. I'm an Anytime Smartpass holder too - not sure why we aren't all getting equal treatment!
Same here! £8.99 a month!
StanfordPines · 07/10/2020 21:06

Im a 4 weeks in advance anytime smartpass customer. No Christmas email for me, but I don’t usually have a Christmas delivery anyway.

ElectricEels · 07/10/2020 21:24

Anytime smartpass holder who can book 4 weeks in advance here with no Christmas email Angry

I emailed them earlier this week asking about Christmas slots and got the very helpful response of " when we have finalised the details we will let you know" Hmm

Werk · 07/10/2020 22:21

How strange! Maybe it depends on location?
I am in London and have a smartpass but I think I pay £6.99 a month? I can book 4 weeks in advance.

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2020 22:24

I pay £8.99 a month too.
My surname is early in the alphabet so possibly they are releasing slots in tranches, alphabetically?
Until I read the threads on here I always assumed all smartpass holders got the same treatment.

Werk · 07/10/2020 22:24

I do wonder if they will sell out quicker this year? Usually, we would decamp to family for Christmas and we wouldn't have a Christmas slot as our relatives buy everything and we hand over a cash contribution.
This year, we think we will be home just us 4 and so I will be booking a slot.

Fuss · 07/10/2020 23:12

Anytime smartpass holder of eleven years without a break. No email.

I've gone for it and ordered from Waitrose. If I'm deigned important enough I might get a few bits from ocado at Christmas but my main shop has now gone to Waitrose.

Fuss · 07/10/2020 23:13

And to answer a question above, my surname begins with A so it's not an alphabetical thing either.

MayFayre · 07/10/2020 23:14

Christmas email here too.

Anytime smartpass holder, £1.99 month, early in the alphabet surname

gillybean2 · 07/10/2020 23:29

Mid week pass booking 3 weeks ahead and I got the Christmas slot email saying I could reserve from tomorrow.

Claireshh · 07/10/2020 23:33

Do the Christmas slots get released at midnight tonight or is it at random times in the morning?

GaryUnicorn · 07/10/2020 23:41

Never use Ocado at Christmas. £10 delivery charge, and £90 minimum basket size takes the piss when I have an anytime pass. They justify it by saying their drivers are busier. Yep, and you’re taking more money hand over fist Ocado. Will be doing my Christmas shop with Waitrose. Couldn’t trust Ocado not to cock it up.

gillybean2 · 08/10/2020 00:17

Mine came up at midnight. Very difficult to order with most Christmas things out of stock at present. As per a previous poster, I also added gin to get to the min order. They’re going to end up ordering too much gin if we all do that...
