Carrying on from the last Ocado thread that is about to fill up. Still haven’t been given a toblerone yet.

I have a delivery due tomorrow (Friday) and as usual it said that I needed to edit it by Wednesday night.
However when I go onto the app it seems to be giving me the option to edit today, I haven’t risked it, but I could do I ‘one click’ add.

FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich · 23/07/2020 10:06

I can’t wait for the day you can edit your order right up to the day before. It is such a pain having to do it two days before.

Lots of slots available.
This is the availability for me in the east and my mum in the south west.

Delivery due this morning (sans Toblerone)
couple of subs, both Waitrose items but both subbed for other Waitrose items.

I probably need to make a mental note now to not order Waitrose stuff as it's more like to be OOS.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 23/07/2020 10:29

So ... branching out, I had a look at Waitrose just now. Interesting to note that their minimum charge is £60. My Ocado orders are almost always over that - but it would be hopeless for a quick top up, or a specific single item delivery to a relative elsewhere.

Can anyone tell me how Waitrose delivery drivers compare to Ocado's?

Waitrose is lovely. Short dated items are given for free. Drivers wonderful and polite. But...

No delivery pass and you take your chances on a weekly/fortnightly slot
Goods are picked from store, so more chance of OOS or short date
Reserving Christmas slots will be a huge battle, and again depend on whats on the shelf for what gets delivered.

For me I don't think I could use it weekly. I'm considering moving to Morrisons in the New Year. I'll most likely visit our local Waitrose every couple of weeks for a top up of my favourite things (mostly their Chinese and Indian ready meals).

Fuss · 23/07/2020 11:21

sigh
Another week, more shitty packaging. Big pack of spaghetti open that flew all over the kitchen as soon as I picked up the other end, not knowing it was open. Eclairs upside down and the chocolate stuck to the film lid.
Driver dumped bags with barely a grunt, no mention of subs.

I messaged Ocado as this seems to be an ongoing issue with packing from that depot. They immediately refunded both Spaghetti and Eclairs but tbh I'd rather they fire a round at the bloody depot and stop it happening in the first place.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 23/07/2020 11:37

Waitrose is lovely.

Thanks! I'm not considering using them as my default store - too little choice. But I thought I might have them as back up and just occasionally bulk buy things I've grown accustomed to and don't really want to replace. Good to know the drivers are polite - it does make a difference.

But my veg box has just arrived! Ocado's early lockdown screw-up has driven me to a probably permanent upgrade as regards fresh produce.

ninjaturtle000 · 23/07/2020 12:21

I don't get this. I have been with Ocado for years, but I rarely use them. Maybe once or twice a year and only £100 or so a time. I normally use Morrisons every ten days or so.

Yet, I am on Ocado's priority list, I can order every five days and 'see all slots before everyone else, 21 days in advance'. How does that make sense when so many of you more regular and much higher spending customers can't get slots at all?

I'm not on any sort of vulnerable list and I don't have a smart pass.

Makes no sense!

Yellowbutterfly1 · 23/07/2020 12:24

I wish a spokesperson from Ocado would come on here and do a question and answer thread.

I've been able to edit my last two orders up until the night before in the usual way, although it still told me the deadline was two days before. I assume this will be the next thing to go back to normal.
eeeyoresmiles · 23/07/2020 14:43

Some time in the afternoon it switched to telling me I had until 5.25pm that day to edit.

bruffin · 23/07/2020 15:20

@ILoveAllRainbowsx

I had a delivery today and they had substituted one product for a much more expensive brand so I had to reject it (the price difference was £9). Tesco and Sainsbury's refund the price difference but Ocado do not which is very unfair. They also do not give you the option not to have subs and then make you feel guilty if you reject them by saying on their website that it is wasteful to do so.
Same happened to me and i complained and got refunded. Problem was the email came at 6 in the morning and my shopping about 7 so i didnt see it to reject the subs. It was all my meat so if i had rejected it i would have had no meals for the week anyway. The refunded the difference between the what the shop would have been and what i was charged. I think it was £16 difference in all
Fuss · 23/07/2020 20:02

One to check.
When I had the reserved email earlier this week I set up my weekly slot for Thursdays beginning 20th August (earliest date I could restart it).

It seems the reserve slot has cancelled out my orders for the 6th and 13th of August. I've managed to rebook them, but if you've set up reserved again in the last few days check your existing orders are still there.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 23/07/2020 20:10

Fuss
It allowed me to sign up for Reserved a couple of days ago. It did say that my first reserved slot wouldn’t be for 30 days for some reason but my deliveries already ordered would stay I place.
Not sure I fully trust them so I’ll keep an eye out now in case they try and cancel them,

I've had no email telling me those slots were cancelled. They just aren't there. No harm as I've caught it, but had I not clicked on to order ice cream Blush I'd have missed it.
Speminalium · 23/07/2020 20:21

Anyone else's app been turned off again?

FlamingoAndJohn · 23/07/2020 21:18

Still good here.

mohasfluffytoes · 24/07/2020 20:54

I'm still restricted to 1 order every 7 days and paying for my delivery pass. My husband, who signed up out of desperation in March but couldn't get a slot as a new customer, can now have a slot as often as he likes. With no delivery charge on several slots a day. I just don't understand it.

Sunny360 · 24/07/2020 22:27

I’m allowed an delivery every day now and I noticed like pp that it was still allowing me to edit my last order the day before even though it said I had to do it two days before so it’s pretty much all back to normal for me now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2020 22:35

I'm signing into the thread as I've finally got past the endless queue and been allowed into the hallowed priority slots just as shielding ends.
I've signed up for a delivery pass, but I'm not quite sure as to any tips or hints as to making the most of it. Before covid we shopped in person at supermarkets. Since then we've muddled by with various things. I can see slots 21 days in advance, but can't think what we might buy two weeks hence.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2020 22:43

oh and my smart pass is 9.99 which seemed extortion but delivery was 5.99 for a one off and we'd like some security in slots over the winter so we went for it.

Just fill your basket with various stuff and then edit as you go. I’m forever fiddling with my next order.

Once you have done a few shops you can do ‘instant shop’ which will fill your basket with what you usually have or what it thinks you might have run out of.

I have a regular slot and it makes an order for me which I then edit, but I think that feature is turned off now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2020 23:06

I'll do that. Thanks! If I don't want to order for a particular week will they remove the priority slot status? It's a weird situation where we really could have done with it, but now things aren't so difficult. We honestly couldn't get anything and had to rely on friends helping out for weeks.
