Except its not. They are still talking about the 30k figure today and not him.

So no, people arent easily distracted.

Though the reports are leaving lots of stuff out of the 30k figure discussion.

If scientist was on TV saying 'lockdown is unnecessary, covid doesn't exist, its a pile of bollocks' amd telling people they must nreak lockdown and was the discovered to be washing their shopping or wearing masks etc it would make the news.

Not sure why people are so keen to defend a hypocrite who believes his privilege gives him the right to ignore what he is telling others should do.

And yes, if Angela Merkle was caught not adding by her countries lockdown, I would expect it to make the headlines.

As the Guardian asked today, why did it take the Telegraph a month to break the story? You all know why. It suited them yesterday.

Also perhaps they are anticipating the blamestorming, and are firing an early shot to show they know about experts not being above criticism. But by playing the man but the science, they might have missed the mark there. Scotland has not noticeably changed course since the resignation of Catherine Calderwood.

I don't buy that this was a distraction technique - the 30k/worst in europe figures came out the day before - that cat was already out of the bag! If it was a "dead cat" then they'd have broken it the previous day.

I think its more likely that the government did that thing where they can supress news for public safety etc. one month ago was the worst week ever for deaths. At that point it would have been catastrophic encouraging people to think "fuck it - if hes going out I am too". Probably a four week pause.
