At a team Zoom meeting my boss said surely we all know someone who has had the virus.

I was the only one to shake my head!

I live in an American city and also don't personally know anyone who's had it. We have low numbers of cases in this area overall, possibly because we went into lockdown early.

Siameasy · 30/04/2020 23:38

Unless you’ve been tested you shouldn’t come on and say you’ve had it - so many people on social media and school what’s App group all “have it” and I’m thinking where have all the other infections gone

Someone I know “had it”...didn’t seek help as was “it”. Turned out to be tonsillitis needed two courses of ABs

Witchofzog · 30/04/2020 23:38

You should have posted this in the Coronavirus topic Hmm Plenty of traffic there. Many of us have hidden the topic to reduce anxiety and aibu is not the right place for this. You can't be unreasonable to know someone who has had it or not.

Jellykat · 30/04/2020 23:40

I'm in West Wales and know one person who i'm pretty sure has had it, she works in the NHS, but unconfirmed as had it before the tests started happening. Her 2 children had milder symptoms too.

I don't know anyone that know definite cases, whether they're in London, Gloucestershire or Bristol.

Lolodizzyone · 30/04/2020 23:41

Sadly yes, I know 2 people who have died of it and have a relative who has it after having been in hospital for something unrelated.

480Widdio · 30/04/2020 23:42

Don’t know anyone personally, but know people who know people who have had it......allegedly.None have been tested.

Murinae · 30/04/2020 23:43

My mother in law died of it today in a carehome. Till Saturday I didn’t know anyone with it. She started with mild symptoms on Saturday and died this morning.

Weedsnseeds1 · 30/04/2020 23:44

South West, family opposite me have all had it. Daughter went clubbing in nearby city weekend before lockdown and had symptoms first. None of them seriously ill, fortunately. OH mother has it and is dying, in a care home, and to be fair, she's been dying for months, so it's probably not the contributing factor.

Guylan · 30/04/2020 23:45

I don’t know anyone personally who has it but a woman my sister knew from the village they both live in has died from it (she was in her early fifties) and a good friend’s sister in law’s colleague has died from it (a nurse).

minimonkey11 · 30/04/2020 23:45

I live in a small city and I don’t know anyone that has had it! I do however now think posting this is bad luck

babbi · 30/04/2020 23:45

I know numerous people who have had it .. hospital admission and released thankfully .
Also know 8 people who have died , 2 were family members and the other 6 were friends / colleagues / former colleagues.

They don’t all live close together so it wasn’t one local cluster group iyswim .

Very sad .. take care out there people ..

Ps I’m in Scotland

NeedToKnow101 · 30/04/2020 23:45

I live in London. 3 colleagues have died from it; and other colleagues have had it to varying degrees; one spent time on a ventilator. (I think a few of us had it mildly before lockdown).
I have a close friend who has been ill with it for 5 weeks now, is still ill though never been hospitalised, it's really affected her breathing.
I know of a few friend's parents who have died with/of it.
My partner's friend ended up in hospital with it, but is recovering now.
A teacher at a local primary school had it and almost died.
I also know someone who claims to have had it, but I'm sceptical about that.

Purpleartichoke · 30/04/2020 23:46

I know one person who got tested. He had flu symptoms after a cruise. He just had a bad cold.

babbi · 30/04/2020 23:47

@Murinae. I’m so sorry for your loss

YappityYapYap · 30/04/2020 23:49

I know two people. One is 64 and spent a night in hospital. The other is 13 and was in ICU

Hollyhobbi · 30/04/2020 23:50

My dad had it as he tested positive. Caught it on Friday 13th March from a fella sitting beside him on the plane coming back from Spain as he has been cocooning since he came back. And a friends sister in law and her two kids had it but not her husband. My mum and one of my sister's were tested but they were negative and its possible they have had it but due to a long delay in testing they could have had it and gotten over it.

Zenithbear · 30/04/2020 23:51

Between me and dp we know 4 people who have died from it.
A friends parent has died from it too. Two people my parents know have recovered. A woman at works brother and sil were hospitalised with it. One is still in hospital.

Guylan · 30/04/2020 23:55

I am sorry to those posting who have had friends or family die from it, v sad.

PennyRoyal · 30/04/2020 23:56

I know two. Sadly both have died.

Brogley · 30/04/2020 23:56

I know a few people.

My dad's uncle died from it the week before last, he was elderly and had a heart problem so high risk. He was tested in hospital and it was positive, ended up on a ventilator, and died without any of his family near him.

One of the mums from school is a nurse and has had it, felt dreadful for a couple of days and then started feeling better. She went back to work this week.

One if the staff at our local supermarket died from it around three weeks ago.

One of the parents from DD's toddler group has had it, so has her DH.

Jellykat · 30/04/2020 23:57

< touches wood >

My condolences to all those here who have lost family members and friends Flowers

Dita73 · 30/04/2020 23:57

I don’t know anyone who has had it or who claims to have had it. I’m in Cambridgeshire

Snorkelface · 01/05/2020 00:00

We know of four people who've died of it, three of them were elderly and with underlying health conditions, one was younger (mid 50s) and in good health. Two friends have had it quite badly but not hospitalised and have both recovered, both of them felt the seven days isolation rule was way too short.

DollyDally · 01/05/2020 00:00

A former colleague of mine died from it. I know a few people who think they’ve had it (and likely have as we are a London borough and they work in health care but couldn’t get tested).

FinnefanFox · 01/05/2020 00:00

I am in Co Durham and unfortunately my parents friend passed away a week ago from it. Still has not sunk in.
