I am not. I am referring to increased posts on a Covid-19 Facebook group and peoples comments on posts, news links and news websites

I'm unsure if people are just getting twitchy or they genuinely believe this isn't a real thing??

Because apparently it's just a normal flu and a doctor was heard on the daily briefing that they put covid as a cause of death regardless which is pushing the figures up

Because there is a coronavirus vaccine for cows which proves its fake it's been here for years it's not new

Bill gates patented it years ago

There are no new deaths this is all normal

When asked why they would fuck the economy over for nothing they say it's for the money.......

like a pp said I AM suspicious about the Coronavirus Bill and the increase in powers to detain 'potentially infected persons' (based on what?), restrictions on gatherings (rights to protest peacefully), military in frontline policing, immigration etc.

Now that is a legitimate concern. Rights, once removed, can be hard to win back.

Also e.g. pneumonia is very common and the people most badly affected are not kids are they? They're people with underlying conditions or older people, many of whom are carried off by it every year. Often having got it from a younger relative with a seemingly mild cold or bug.

Fuck loads of “normal people” have had it . My friends fit, healthy husband has died from it. In his 50’s. The same age as me. That’s pretty real. And someone who works at ds’s school has died from it. In his 50’s. And someone we know has, thankfully “recovered“ from it. In her 40’s. After several weeks on a ventilator she is home. It is, however, unlikely that she will make a complete recovery. She has been left with a lot of problems. It feels pretty real to me.

We are not conspiracy theorists, just individuals who have theorised that there is conspiracy.

Hate to break it to you... but by making daft statements like that, you are basically alluding to a conspiracy!

People have nothing better to do with their time then make up fake rumours to cause unnecessary panic it seems.
After I see a theory I always do a quick fact check and 99 percent of the time it's fake. Stay well away from those Facebook groups.

If challenged I get landed on how many people do you KNOW personally who have died from this, honestly none but I'm not from a "rule breaking," family nor my friends so we have literally stayed at home and followed the rules the only death Ive known has been suicide

But perhaps I'm over sensitive, what with watching my brother die of it and attending his funeral last week. Oh, and praying for his son to recover from it.

@emcont I think there are two things happening. Some people who are genuine conspiracy theorists and some propaganda. We know that governments use social media all the time to try and influence people. So who? China maybe to deflect attention? Or Russia to destabilise western countries?
But yes don't believe everyone in social media is real. And that goes for MN as well.

Sorry to be thick, but what does “landed on” mean?

I know two people who’ve died, both over 80.

My very grounded down to earth ex husband works on covid wards and he is definitely nursing real people with the real virus. He is also putting real bodies into body bags all too frequently

@WitchWife I had a relative die of pneumonia. He was already on end of life care. It is a common illness that kills those with literally weeks to live. That is different from those dying from covid 19.
Anyone on end of life care will not be admitted to hospital.

I have a friend who is posting 20 times a day on fb about he conspiracy. I stopped looking but it seems to be something about Bill Gates, Trump and the head of WHO being set to make millions from it, the head of Victoria’s Secret was mentioned somewhere along the way. Then that the vaccine is compulsory and is manufactured to kill the most vulnerable. She seems to be spending all her time researching it all. She’s always seemed pretty normal up til now but is freakily convinced by all this.

Sorry @cantory I know and wasn't trying to say it was the same (although IME some people who die of pneumonia weren't necessarily near the end before getting it, it does kill some previously healthy people who are just old, sadly) - I was responding to the poster who was cynical that diseases can affect older/weaker people more badly than kids.

This is one of the worst threads .some of the posts are quite honestly ridiculous and in fact offensive . Obviously people are bored and using their imaginations and not their brains.

I would say more but busy arranging a joint family funeral for victims of the virus .

That 5G is spreading the virus so lets assault Openreach engineer or set fire to a BT cabinet then complain they have no Netflix.

I know of several people who have died of varying ages and some people are stupid they can’t even consider how population density and contact can affect how many people you know will succumb. And as for the comment it’s not that contagious. Unbelievable. I think there are in,y 30 countries in the whole world who are not affected.

I think I quite clearly said I don’t believe any of the conspiracies- 5G, hoax, ID2020 etc - hence I am not a conspiracy theorist.

Call me deranged if you like, that seems like a rational response that most people have to anyone questioning the narrative being gently hammered into every simpleton’s head in the UK right now.

Cash will go. UBI will be introduced. Previous freedoms will be ancient history. Travel will be the preserve of the elite. Just some of the changes that will come from the back of the MEDIA and GOVERNMENT response to this pandemic.

Take a moment to digest what you are told by a (22 year old media graduate) journalist and understand how they have taken a tiny piece of information that they themselves have not checked for accuracy or source,
and reframed it for maximum impact (clicks, shares, ad revenue). And that’s what the majority of people are working off... why would you NOT challenge that?

My elderly and/or very unwell relative/friend/colleague died because they caught the flu or Covid 19. It's real.
