I am not. I am referring to increased posts on a Covid-19 Facebook group and peoples comments on posts, news links and news websites

I'm unsure if people are just getting twitchy or they genuinely believe this isn't a real thing??

Well if it is a conspiracy my son and DIL, frontline HCP in the NHS are going to be in big trouble with me. DIL looking for sympathy for the exhausting work she is doing on a Covid ward and it's all made up.

Things that don’t add up for me:

A virus that conveniently attacks the most “disposable” in our society - the very elderly - but leaves the young (largely) alone... have you ever heard the like? Children are usually the first to get any virus going, and they get it hard because it’s the first time.

The virulence doesn’t add up. I know lots of NHS frontliners, not one person nor their families have had it. Why haven’t hundreds of cabin crew died? Dentists, beauticians, nail techs, chiropractors, hairdressers? People who deal with other people’s bodies and faces as their day to day job with no PPE? Surely if it’s AS BAD as the MSM is telling the general public then they should all be in hospital at the very least. If not dead. Only 45 deaths on cruise ships with thousands of passengers and crew?

Where have all the apps and websites and logos and POS complete with snazzy COVID logos and straplines sprung up from so quickly and who is paying for them? These things take months and huge budgets to achieve. It’s almost like some parties were planning for this well before March.

New, mysterious organisations such as “Global Citizen”, fronted by celebs.

It’s all so very organised....

In short I don’t think it’s fake or a hoax. I think there is a virus but I don’t think it’s organic.

I think there is a background agenda that is being orchestrated by people other than the commonly accepted leaders of each country. Call that NWO if you wish. Something along those lines anyway.

I think MSM is being fed some lines which are easily manipulated to instil fear and panic in certain sections of society.

I think the numbers are deliberately vague and collected in a confusing manner, and differently in each country, so that no one can ever really challenge what’s going on.

I’m not sure why people who don’t just accept what tabloid journalists churn out as the truth are labelled as conspiracists or attacked with such vitriol. Perhaps it’s because the people calling them thick are deep down terrified they could be right.

I'm also quite cynical enough about governments to be concerned that they'll never really let go of the new "emergency" powers they've granted themselves. But that doesn't change that CV19 is real! (And nothing to do with 5G.)

I wish it wasn't true - I've had Covid for 5 weeks, as have quite a few of my friends. It's been absolutely awful! If I'd had any health issues or been over 40, I think this might have actually killed me...

These idiots need to do a shift at a funeral parlour, or in a care home or in a hospital on the front line.

If they don't want to stay in don't, but they should go and do something helpful (and educate themselves about the actual situation) instead of hiding behind leaflets!

(For future reference: I do believe Coronavirus is real - I know several people who have had it, and several others who are HCP's redeployed with minimal training to work in ITU. I believe it is naturally occurring, not made in a lab; I believe the tracking app the NHS is preparing is about combatting the pandemic, not manipulating the population; I believe that companies like Astra Zeneca, who have agreed to mass produce the Oxford vaccine (if successful) at cost are the good guys, and that anyone who is taking advantage of the pandemic to make massive profits needs to take a long hard look at themselves)

@FromEden that's because of the lockdown. It's about managing the waves of cases. They'll be more to come as the restrictions are lifted.

@FromEden they’re likely being laid off because elective surgeries have been cancelled. This is where (US) hospitals make their profits and are able to pay their bills. BTW, elective can mean anything that’s not ER/A & E procedures. This means it can vary from childbirths to liposuction to deliberately scheduled open heart surgeries or kidney transplants.

And I'm not suggesting NWO stuff, just that governments in general like having more powers and dislike losing them, and those powers often then end up being used for things they weren't intended for (see anti-terror legislation).

I don’t believe it’s as contagious as what they are saying it is, I believe it’s all to bring a vaccine so big pharmaceutical companies make a lot of money. It’s so contagious but you can go to b&q stand in a que but can’t sit on a park bench alone?? All of this is to protect the NHS I’m not so sure.

I was just talking to a friend on the phone. She has been redeployed to work on a Covid ward. It's very real, and it was heartbreaking to hear what she had to say.

It’s not unreasonable to question the news but in this case there is overwhelming amount of (tragic) evidence that a) there is a new coronavirus, b) it’s highly contagious and c) it’s killed and killing a ridiculous amount of people.

I have a lot of friends who are medics and who have DC who are medics. Three are doctors in trauma and emergency medicine and are now in ICUs caring for COVID patients. I don’t think they could make up what they’re doing in there all this time if it was some sort of a conspiracy.

I know several people who have had it, one of them is a doctor and his wife who is also a doctor is waiting for her results. I have recently lost an aunt because of it too.

@flojo73 equally our neighbour is an A&E consultant, my SIL a theatre nurse.

Neighbour says work is quiet and he’s not concerned about COVID, has seen few serious cases. He has his two sons and their girlfriends over every weekend for a catch up in the garden.

SIL has offered to her manager to do extra COVID shifts seeing as all her theatre work has been cancelled. She’s yet to hear back from said manager...

Our local surgery is now seeing covid patients. They have a general area for normal patients and a totally separate area for suspected covid patients. Only those working there are allowed in the covid area.

No, I don’t think it’s a conspiracy. There will be lots of questions asked after life returns to normal, but I’d rather have the hospitals ready for a large capacity, then there not be enough space.

Plus, if I didn’t have covid when I was poorly off work for four weeks, when I’ve barely had four days off in over a year, what on earth did I have? Just look at the lungs thread, there’s lots of us who’ve had a more-than-mild, but not hospital-needing illness that has lasted several weeks.

I have a friend and a sister who've both had it - not hospitalized thank goodness, but still both very ill. Plus a friend who's older relative has died from it.

Of course, it's real.

People are bored and there's nothing stopping them from posting any old crap. It's either attention seeking or mischief making. Stay off the cesspit of Facebook, look at validated reliable sources, and go out and enjoy some sunshine. You'll feel loads better.

OK Karen, well done, you have "researched" what can only be at this stage, very small numbered studies with no or very little controls as the virus is so new

As for the theory above that "they" all know what's going on i the governments or similar, that logo's take ages etc. I can produce a logos on graphic deign software and have it on a thousand web-pages and printed in the next two hours of I need to. It's not that difficult. And as for all the government heads or similar knowing something we don't. Did they have this meeting in Blofeld's underground layer?

I'm not saying that we are being told everything but if you believe the conspiracy you are a conspiracy theorist. If you think you are a truther or similar you are a conspiracy theorist. If you are doing your "research" and are not a research scientist then please check the sources, check the controls, check the number of people in the studies etc because if you just believe everything you read then you are exactly what you proclaim to be against.

There's a Facebook group called UK LOCKDOWN and there is a high proportion of people on there who are bat shit crazy, they're constantly posting how to avoid getting arrested for being out and how to 'get round' the police by using certain laws and human right acts.
There's a lot of people screaming for Bill Gates to be held accountable for it all because he's the evil mastermind behind everything.

I swing between being intrigued what it must be like to live with such an active imagination and then swinging back to feeling awful for these people who are suspicious of literally everything.

Some hospitals, or certainly large sections inside hospitals ARE empty. We have closed down business as usual service and asked people not to attend, and moved staff off to other things. That is the reality of many hospitals now.

2014/15 - 104 deaths in the age range 0-14 years, 25,143 in the 65+ age range.
2015/16 - 95 deaths in the age range 0-14 years, 9,459 in the 65+ age range.
2016/17 - 97 deaths in the age range 0-14 years, 15,167 in the 65+ age range.
2017/18 - 8 deaths in the age range 0-14 years, 22,237 in the 65+ age range.

That's despite the fact many seniors get vaccinated.
