I am not. I am referring to increased posts on a Covid-19 Facebook group and peoples comments on posts, news links and news websites

I'm unsure if people are just getting twitchy or they genuinely believe this isn't a real thing??

thecatneuterer · 30/04/2020 16:17

Someone I met recently said it can't possibly be true because 'where are all the bodies'? ! Confused

Bringringbring12 · 30/04/2020 16:18

Not in the slightest. Not even a teeny tiny bit.

I would more believe earth is flat

mypoorfurbaby · 30/04/2020 16:25

Our place feels empty but we still have in patients so we're not.
Without day cases, appointments, visitors it feels empty,

Milliontjm86 · 30/04/2020 16:26

Can I ask why are some people who question things called a conspiracy theorist, idiots or thick?? Honestly how are these people thick just because they don’t believe everything they’re told.

Newdadtogirl · 30/04/2020 16:26

People who say "there is no conspiracy" are obviously conspirators conspiring with the conspirators!

bluemoon77 · 30/04/2020 16:28

My brother believes that all governments are controlled by a few elite families. That explained why the moon landings wouldn’t have been disproved by the Russians for instance. All the leaders are merely puppets doing their masters bidding. This virus is all about population control, before the NWO is all in place.

Rottnest · 30/04/2020 16:28

The conspiracy theorists must be Trump voter!!!!

Moondust001 · 30/04/2020 16:30

I haven't got time to work this one out. I am still trying to work out where they faked the moon landing.

Bringringbring12 · 30/04/2020 16:30

A conspiracy around corona. Is this something you believe?

Pipandmum · 30/04/2020 16:30

Can't see any upside to manufacturing a pandemic.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/04/2020 16:31

There is a big difference between having an enquiring mind and believing the earth is flat or 5g causes Corona or that Corona doesn't exist in the first place.

An enquiring mind questions and explores new possibilities. They question productively.

A conspiracy theorist questions and chooses to believe the most convoluted explanation, without question. Once they have their preferred alternative explanation they become evangelical and continue to contort logic to fit their alternative reality.

GinnyStrupac · 30/04/2020 16:32

No.

I think the NHS only has capacity because of lockdown, social distancing, hand washing and that most people are complying. It would be even better if NHS, care and hospice staff had the correct PPE of course, and enough of it, and everyone else wore face masks in public.

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/04/2020 16:33

I was at a hospital appointment yesterday and it was indeed pretty empty. I was grateful for this to be honest with you. I am aware of a couple of friends who have worked on the Covid ward at our local hospital have now been asked to take annual leave. This is a positive thing as far as I am concerned, nothing to do with conspiracies. My treatment hasn't changed at all and I am having appointments as normal aside from one which was on the telephone and because I didn't actually "need" to have face to face to have that appointment. Seemed very sensible to me and probably something that could continue going forward if appropriate.

Lovesgood · 30/04/2020 16:33

Yeah because people who DONT believe everything the media tells them are the stupid ones...Hmm

Enough4me · 30/04/2020 16:38

I think the strange thing is that we are all experiencing a state of change because of something invisible at exactly the same time. It has a sense of something make-believe and can create paranoia as it does not have a clear origin for blame, the symptoms are so variable, we do not have a cure, cannot reliably test for it and do not even understand fully its nature (still being studied!).

Rather than accept this is a highly unusual situation, conspiracy theorists seem to prefer the idea that it all made up.

Sadie789 · 30/04/2020 16:39

I know there is a virus and that it’s deadly for some.

I don’t believe that it’s anything to do with 5G or that the whole thing is a hoax.

I do think it’s important to challenge and question what you’re told by governments and MSM. I say that as someone who works in MSM.

Patte · 30/04/2020 16:42

Our local hospital is pretty empty. I've heard this from three independent sources, none of them nutters, so I tend to believe it. That doesn't mean CV19 isn't real. It may mean we over prepared to some extent, and maybe we shouldn't have cancelled as much scheduled surgery etc. But hindsight is a wonderful thing, and we'd certainly be kicking ourselves if we'd under prepared.

I do think though it means the NHS is coping, and given we were told the reason for lockdown was in order not to overwhelm the NHS we really need to start looking at easing lockdown.

Milliontjm86 · 30/04/2020 16:43

I believe that something definitely isn’t right and I’m far from a conspiracy theorist. Most people who question what we are being told do a lot of research. There’s just so much that doesn’t add up/make sense that’s all. Don’t think that makes me a conspiracy theorist??

Emcont · 30/04/2020 16:44

@Milliontjm86 What is it that doesn't add up for you?

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2020 16:46

Well my brother had it, so how does that work out?

Jux · 30/04/2020 16:47

We have just had this through our door. It's pretty well done using good paper. I have no idea who's behind it. There are links to pages which 'prove' things but I can't be bothered to read it thoroughly as the print is so small I need a magnifying glass. I'll get around to it at some point, I expect.

Whatsupdaddio · 30/04/2020 16:48

Please open your eyes! The entire world is battling this virus and yes people are dying of it. My ex and Son both work in an HNS hospital and yes, it's very real. I work in the Tech sector and have studied electrical engineering and datacomms and 5G cannot cause anything accept possibly (and I am not holding my breath on this one) better mobile service. Personally, still waiting for them get 3G working properly. Why are people so bored that they have to actually give time to these fantasies, there is a real world out there that needs you to engage with it especially now! and please do because life is passing you by while you hide behind your living room curtains peeking out in to the world and waiting for the daily mail to tell you what to think! You can do it, don't leave the thinking to somebody else.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2020 16:48

Can't see any upside to manufacturing a pandemic.

Well i dont believe this is a consipracy but do believe that manufacturing a pandemic means the drug companies get richer. There is your motive.

Lumene · 30/04/2020 16:49

What doesn’t add up Million?

I agree with Sadie. Important to question things. But I see no evidence of 5G or a hoax virus.

No need to ridicule those asking about these though.

FromEden · 30/04/2020 16:52

Medical staff where I am in the US are being laid off or having their hours reduced. Hospitals are empty. Luckily we just didn't get the tsunami of cases that was predicted. Obviously that's not the case everywhere
