New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

Hi
Had a reasonable day so far Managed to do some work on the laptop and only had one small breathless incident half and hour ago. Its funny my head seems clearer today but I am becoming very tired now. So I will now rest and go to bed early tonight in the hope of a good day tomorrow. I am actually working on Wednesday afternoon at the school so I am a bit worried about that and how I will feel.

TheWooisStrong · 04/05/2020 16:48

Last relapse a few days ago but I’m improved again. Managed nearly 10k steps yesterday on a walk, most I’ve done in 2 months. Wiped the children out but I’ve felt fine today bar a slight increase in my cough.
Amusingly I’m a key worker and got told/reminded that I can get tested if I have symptoms. Not much point at this stage, think I’ll hold out for the antibody year.

Crayfishforyou · 04/05/2020 17:38

@TheWooisStrong
That sounds amazing. I hope I get to where you are soon

SimpleKindofLife · 04/05/2020 17:40

For anyone who's had a negative antibody test, I was just reading some posts on Slack that some doctors in America say you need to be symptom free for at least 7 days begire the antibodies to show up. So you might still get them at a later date?

Hard to read the posts about all the testing going on around the world... where are our tests?? Sad

SimpleKindofLife · 04/05/2020 17:41

@TheWooisStrong 10k?! I don't think I've achieved that in the whole 5 weeks! That's great news, congrats, that must feel amazing!

Just wondering if anyone here would be prepared to take part in some research on what it's like to have symptoms for such a long time- looking at access to medical support (or not!), lack of tests etc I want to get the message across about the experience we have had and how that's affecting us.

Dimsummummy · 04/05/2020 18:17

Hi @WorriesomeDad you’ve asked after me a couple of times (and in relation to smoking). I’m on day 53 and posted a couple of weeks ago where I’d been really quite well for 2 weeks. Last Monday I went down hill again (mild temp/dizziness/weakness/increased frothy sputum and left lung discomfort ) doctor
Put me on antibiotics again on Thursday. And I’ve been to the covid hub today to be checked over, where I have a mild temp
Still (day 5 of antibiotics) but chest sounds relatively clear. I need to submit a sputum sample to doctors tomorrow to get the correct antibiotics to clear up any bacteria in the sputum.
I still feel loads better than I did in weeks 1-4 and no worse than any ‘garden’ illness, but don’t know if this is because I was a smoker.. although you sound like a fair weather smoker wheteas I was a 30 Rollies a day smoker, so I don’t think you need to worry. The doctor said she wasn’t anywhere near concerned enough (nor did she
feel that speed was superior to sputum results) to write me a prescription for a different antibiotic just to keep me medicated, so il actually quite relieved as it could Have been a lot worse!

Well wishes to all of you 🤗

Lightsabre · 04/05/2020 19:21

@godhelpusall, yes I'd be interested.

Tangledyarn · 04/05/2020 19:25

Hope everyone is ok. I've relented and left a message with the gp for a tel appointment re my chest/asthma as am having to use my inhalers more than I should and am breathless plus have the feeling of my left lung being very constricted and small constantly. Very fatigued but am managing to pace myself and do not much at all so coping with that ok and the fatigue is better than it was 2 weeks ago which is positive.

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 19:29

Thanks @Lightsabre - as soon as I have spoken to my supervisor I'll get back to you. I feel our experiences need to be out there.

Meercatmama · 04/05/2020 20:07

I would be interested as well

Crayfishforyou · 04/05/2020 20:14

@godhelpusall I am willing to take part in research. If it helps anyone else in the future count me in

Countingsheeps · 04/05/2020 20:18

@godhelpusall I would be interested too x

mumlurker · 04/05/2020 20:21

I'm also interested

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 20:23

Amazing. That's excellent thanks @mumlurker @Countingsheeps @Crayfishforyou - I will be in touch as soon as I can.

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 20:23

And @Meercatmama Smile

mumlurker · 04/05/2020 20:27

@godhelpusall just curious what your envisaging research wise?! Think this could be really helpful

baroqueandblue · 04/05/2020 20:35

Another one here interested in taking part in the research! I'm a bloke though so not sure if that'll be a decisive factor? Early 50s and with underlying conditions so am feeling v lucky to have come through this! Was a smoker for over 30 years too..

For those who asked, I believe my problems started with a sore throat and awful headaches end of Feb. Mid-March the pain in my back, ribs and diaphragm hit me like a train and the other symptoms (sore, inflamed lungs, cough and bone-tiredness) came a bit later. Hospital checked me over a couple of weeks ago and sent me home with doxycycline which didn't have much impact. GP thinks secondary bacterial pneumonia /pleurisy, so full recovery will be a while yet but have noticed a huge improvement over the weekend and really feel I'm finally on the mend. About 9 weeks from onset 😲 Still sleeping a lot but that's part of the healing I'm certain.

Egghead68 · 04/05/2020 20:55

@godhelpusall I’m interested in the research.

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 20:58

@baroqueandblue that's fine- the more the merrier. @mumlurker I'm looking at a qualitative study into the experiences of those of us who have experienced ongoing symptoms. What it's like to be in the U.K. early in the pandemic, our experiences of medical support/ testing etc How we have felt in ourselves during this time. What would have made things better. That sort of thing. I have to get ethical permission but anyone prepared to help will be most appreciated.

Moodgie · 04/05/2020 21:09

@godhelpusall I’m in too.

fedupofbed · 04/05/2020 21:21

Me too @godhelpusall if you have space now!

baroqueandblue · 04/05/2020 21:21

That's great @godhelpusall, more than happy to be contacted and participate as and when ☺

mumlurker · 04/05/2020 21:39

Oh that sounds great. Happy to help in any way
