Also happy to help godhelpusall excellent idea.

Hi Everyone,

I've been following this group for awhile and it has brought me great comfort at times of distress.

I'm currently on day 47 of symptoms and I was just wondering if anyone was still getting a high temperature so late on? My temperature has spiked on and off throughout this. Sometimes it'll last for an hour, sometimes a few minutes. Some days I won't get a temperature at all and I think I'm 'on the up' again only for it to return the following day. I'm asking because today I've had the worst temperature yet. It has been at 39.2 (it has only risen up to 38.3 in previous weeks). Even with paracetamol, I haven't been able to get it lower than 38.3 all day although it is now 37.4. On top of this, I have pain in my right leg - in my calf. The pain came on last Tuesday and has become progressively more painful.

I rang the doctors today and got an appointment after waiting several hours. She suggested that I get tested for Covid-19 (I'm a teacher and so a key worker) as she suspects I have been reinfected?! She has told me to self isolate for a further 14 days. I wouldn't mind but I have been stuck in the house for 47 days and managed a walk out a few days ago as another doctor told me that it was unlikely I was still contagious. I will also be having a blood test to test for a blood clot.

I really can't see why I would be reinfected and part of me thinks that the doctors just do not know how this virus affects the body and are clutching at straws trying to find answers. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with a temperature that just will not shift over a consistent amount of days?

To add context, I'll quickly run through my history with this illness. I started off with a strong headache on the 19th March and a temperature that spiked throughout the day. On the following day, I woke up gasping for breath and struggling to breathe with awful chest pains. These symptoms lasted for weeks.

From about day 22, I experienced extreme fatigue. From around day 28, I began to experience a racing heart beat and what felt like palpitations.

Last Monday, I was actually feeling ok (Day 40) and I rang the doctor for a sick note (asking it to be backdated as requested from my workplace) and the doctor told me to go to A and E as they didn't like the symptoms I was describing - pain that was now localised around the left hand side, tingling sensation down my left arm and a racing heart beat. I had blood tests, an ecg and an xray. All tests came back ok apart from some very mild inflammation in my lungs. I was given some more antibiotics (third set).

It was literally the day after going to A and E when I began to experience the pain in my calf so even though I'd had a blood test and it was clear for blood clots, I'll be having a further one tomorrow but this time in a designated Covid-19 tent.

The doctor now thinks that I didn't have Covid-19 to begin with but instead contracted it when I went to A and E last week... Just makes no sense to me and is just making me panic further. If I can, and indeed have, got this again, I really don't know what to do as these last few weeks have been hell on earth (let me also add that my husband has been ill too and has struggled as much as me and we have a 5 and a 4 year old...oh and my Head Teacher insisted I get a sick note and is assuming I'll be ready for work soon...).

Is there anyone out there that has recovered fully??

LetsBeSensible · 04/05/2020 22:21

@godhelpusall I’m in.
Day forty something like 45? Another good day, after yesterday’s shot show.Over the last two weeks I have worn my Fitbit, I am now up to 2-3k steps per day, and my ave heart rate is calming down so well but not quite as slow as pre-covid.
Today I had a shower for the first time since I got ill.I have been having baths as they are less effort, standing gets hard after a min or two but today I managed it at last!

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 22:21

Brilliant- thanks all @KatySun and @fedupofbed . I will try to get the ball rolling so we get our experiences heard.

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 22:26

Goodness @LittlePrincess07 you've been through it! I had symptoms for about six weeks, I'm pretty much better (although still have the odd twinge that makes me go Hmmbecause it's impossible to trust that it's gone. Good to hear you are going to the hospital tomorrow, best to get the leg checked. It might be worth reading back the lungs threads as they detail lots of ups and downs (and more ups and more downs) - there are definitely those out there who had high temperatures late on. Good luck tomorrow

godhelpusall · 04/05/2020 22:27

Thanks @LetsBeSensible

LittlePrincess07 · 04/05/2020 22:31

Thanks so much, @godhelpusall. I'll have a look through the posts. Just hope that this isn't a reinfection. That just sounds ridiculous to me! I will also be happy to take part in your survey :)

SimpleKindofLife · 04/05/2020 22:40

@LittlePrincess07 I don't think the doctors know enough about it yet, it's just best guesses so don't let what they say scare you. A lot of doctors think this is all just anxiety!? Confused

There was a discussion earlier on in this thread about our body's immune system still trying to fight against the dead virus cells, which are just harmless empty shells. So the virus is gone but our bodies don't realise it yet, so our immune system is still fighting it, hence the symptoms. It made sense to me! Someone posted an article about the research in Korea too. I found it reassuring.

Hello sorry I can’t keep up with this thread!

But thought I’d update to say I went to A&E this evening and am still here in a room in A&E.

Oxygen saturation was low. They’ve had me on oxygen for the past 4 hours, reducing it. Also doing an arterial blood gas measurement to get a more accurate measure of my oxygen saturation. It’s in the wrist and it HURTS. Unfortunately sample turned out to be mixed with blood from a vein too so they have to do it again.

They’re keeping me in for a few hours, possibly overnight.

Dandyish · 04/05/2020 22:45

Oh and my bloods showed some inflammation suggesting a virus. Also showing slightly elevated enzymes so they need to repeat that. Chest x ray fine.

eyebrowsofinstagram · 04/05/2020 22:51

@godhelpusall yes I'd be interested in taking part in the research too

wontletmelogin · 04/05/2020 23:08

Hi all. Just asking for your input.

Thursday afternoon - bit lethargic and a headache
Friday - tickly cough
Saturday onwards - worsening chesty cough, mostly dry but sometimes minimally productive

I’ve felt very tired and have napped quite a lot as I’ve been on days off. I’ve been in work two days a week, I’m a HCP in a non covid hospital but work with those who have been exposed and also come and work with us. We are having routine testing and mine is Wednesday. Have already asked not to be allocated to a full PPE shift when I go in for my two days weds and thurs...or should I be staying home? I feel like it doesn’t really tick the symptom boxes, no fever at all?

LetsBeSensible · 04/05/2020 23:15

@Dandyish hope you have a restful night, you’re in the best place even if they are making it hurt on you!

Moodgie · 04/05/2020 23:37

@wontletmelogin Not everyone has temperature as far as I know, I don’t think I did at all. I would definitely stay. I kept thinking I just had a cold when I got my first symptoms.

Moodgie · 04/05/2020 23:40

@wontletmelogin There is a good video posted on Facebook. You need to look up Stow Surgery and it’s a lady GP who talks about symptoms she and her family had and how they varied.

everythingisginandroses · 04/05/2020 23:40

Hi, @wontletmelogin - sounds to me like you should be at home. I hasten to add that I have no medical knowledge whatsoever, but my own probable Covid symptoms started with tickly cough, headache, sore throat and massive tiredness. I did run a low-grade fever for bloody weeks, but I don't think everyone does. Cough was marginal for me throughout, sometimes dry, sometimes some phlegm. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Dorual · 04/05/2020 23:43

@littleprincess07 wow that sounds rough. I doubt you have caught it from A&E. I am constantly worried about that risk myself, and keep seeking reassurance (which hasn't been that fruitful). But in doing my own research it seems that you need to be in close proximity to someone for over 15 mins. And you both wear masks at hospital. Anyone have anything to add to that?

And I am having a recurrence of fever on days 30-33. Low grade but definitely disappeared from day 12. But you're doing the right thing getting checked over.

@Dandyish I hope you're OK and that the oxygen helps x

everythingisginandroses · 04/05/2020 23:46

@godhelpusall - I'd be happy to help too.

Dandyish · 05/05/2020 00:14

@wontletmelogin as you’re an HCP do they not have a procedure there for you to follow re symptoms?

As you get tested in Wed I’d go in unless you worsen. Things change quite quickly it seems and you may be better in two days’ time.

Dandyish · 05/05/2020 00:16

Thanks @LetsBeSensible and @dorul x

whynotchangemore · 05/05/2020 00:53

Hello all, just checking back in I've been reading threads and been sick since the 28th Feb, 999 etc in hospital 3 times sent home each time with antibiotics, as I've been showing so many symptoms, burning chest, out of the world headspace wise, racing Haeart, swollen glands, temperature, chills, tingling legs and hands, then the joys of GERD and burping for weeks the whole lot!!

But I tested negative in early March?

My question last post was about bladder and pelvic pains, I'm now on my 3 set of antibiotics, I'm still in pain daily and I still can't exercise or move much without feeling exhausted.

Is anyone else still with me at this stage or do I need to get another test? Or start looking at other potential issues?

Egghead68 · 05/05/2020 05:32

@Dandyish I hope that A&E can make you more comfortable. Really good you went. Those arterial blood tests in your wrist are really painful (and they often seem to need to repeat them).

@wontletmelogin I thought the advice was that we should stay home if we developed a new continuous cough OR a fever.

@whynotchangemore it is thought that the antigen tests miss up to 30% of positive cases. At this stage you could try an antibody test, which may be more accurate (although someone posted that these might be best when you have been free of all symptoms for 7 days).

Casino218 · 05/05/2020 06:20

I'm now at 57 days post initial symptom. I would class myself as 90% recovered now. The only symptom left is tiredness and fatigue if I exercise. I know I wouldn't be able to run at the moment and I could before this. Hang in there guys.

@LittlePrincess07 please get checked out because that temperature has been going on for some time. Can you call 111?

Casino218 · 05/05/2020 06:21

@Godhelpusall I would be interested.
