I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place, I can’t think of the right section to put it. I can’t shake the feeling that something deeper is going on here. I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety talking and the fact I have a lot more time to sit and think about it but I can’t get it out of my head. I am thinking something devastating to the planet, asteroid collision or something, with corona as a cover up to avoid mass hysteria in our final days. Why are they still launching Starlink when the rest of the world has completely shut down? Where is all this money coming from that the government is throwing around seemingly without a care to how we will pay it back. Why are they so unbothered by so many members of society who stand to lose everything if we stay shut down for much longer (pubs, leisure industry, travel/holidays, weddings etc). Why do we keep hearing about empty hospitals, bored staff and the empty Nightingale hospitals? Why are we stopping ALL planned surgery’s seemingly disregarding the health of everybody apart from corona sufferers. No plans for if/how/when our children will go back to school. I just can’t get my head around it.

@Rufflecrow

it’s a fair cop. matt groening had previously hinted at it and the resemblance IS uncanny. i see he’s put that rumour to bed since i left the company.

Mr Olsen Snr’s style of business echoes that of the estimable Mr Burns, so there’s that!

Mysocalledlifexx · 24/04/2020 20:44

This isnt the only time there has been a lockdown my mum told me it happend twice when she was a child so that would have been in the 60s.

Justaboy · 24/04/2020 20:58

This isnt the only time there has been a lockdown my mum told me it happend twice when she was a child so that would have been in the 60s.

Really?, don't remeber one!

Ask your mum what she meant will you, be intresting!..

Justaboy · 24/04/2020 21:03

It was only later that the world became aware of the gas chambers. And churchill was quite fond of gas chambers himself when our side was using them in the Boer War - that's not a conspiracy that's an unpalatable truth

I know he had a few interment camps on the go but Gas Chambers in the Boer war?

Really?

Girlinterruption2020 · 24/04/2020 21:09

I would also question that - the truth is governments did know. The Polish gov’t in exile in London wrote about it specifically, soldiers within Germany reported it to priests in confession/church. International communities such as the Red Cross knew.

And they knew early on.

RuffleCrow · 24/04/2020 21:43

I meant concentration camps @justaboy. We only killed 48,000 mainly women and children in them, mainly by starving them. So clearly our leaders back then were lovely blokes and not sociopaths at all Hmm

Leflic · 24/04/2020 21:53

My father remembers everyone being off school for either the morning or afternoon for some virus that was doing the rounds. He was born in 1945.

JudyCoolibar · 25/04/2020 08:01

Donald can’t help the fact that the science/medical field is not his forte and he doesn’t know any of the terminology. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t listen to him.

So how come virtually every other political leader manages not to come up with utter bollocks like ingesting bleach to kill Covid19?

JudyCoolibar · 25/04/2020 08:04

No, there was nothing of that nature in the 60s.

saraclara · 25/04/2020 08:26

I was born in 1955 and never experienced a lockdown

notimagain · 25/04/2020 08:48

I was at school in the UK throughout the 60s and into the early 70s and I don't recall a lockdown either...

(whilst I'm here being sceptical I also agree with Justaboy's comment querying claims about the UK using gas chambers in the Boer War....)

Naturalbornkiller · 25/04/2020 08:59

That's been really blow out of proportion. The report I read said that he was talking to his research scientists or someone about the fact heat, uv, and bleech and disinfectant kills the virus. All he said is can they look into whether they can use those methods to kill the virus inside the body somehow.

He's not a scientist, or a doctor or a carer polatitian. What he said has the right intention, just said in a really clumsy way. Most politicians have spent their lives learning how to address the public and how to speak without slipping up (so they basically waffle about nothing). Trump just speaks like a normal person and says what comes into his head. Not a big deal really, people are just quick to jump on him.

Is there something else going on
LuminousAmber · 25/04/2020 09:43

I’m not overly anxious at the minute but I do think it’s likely that ‘something else’ is going on although not as drastic as the apocalypse!

For me, I think it’s likely that:

  1. The virus isn’t organic, it was manufactured. Whether it was released accidentally or on purpose by the Chinese depends on your POV. And also linked to:
  2. Climate change - this is the best thing, climate wise, that could possibly have happened.

Conspiracy theories I’ve read for the Chinese purposely releasing the virus have centred around business/economy/world leaders/money being the driver. But what if the reason was climate change?

Baconisgoodformeee · 25/04/2020 09:48

“Whether it was released accidentally or on purpose by the Chinese depends on your POV.“

No it doesn’t. It either is the truth, or it isn’t. Truth and facts doesn’t depend on point of view!

notimagain · 25/04/2020 09:49

Sorry, no, that's no excuse.

Public speaking whether done by a politician, scientist, or any other major figure is a serious business - even those of us who make public address announcements to a limited audience usually get some coaching in what to say and more importantly what not to say, because there can , certainly in some jobs, be serious consequences if you get it wrong ("did somebody say "fire"?)

Politicians wording things badly is even worse it can at best cause confusion worldwide, at worse cause a run on the banks, deaths, can even lead to wars...it doesn't matter one jot if it was said on the hoof, at a press conference - speaking clearly is part of the job spec.

I don't care about his background - He now a professional politician, and IMHO he shouldn't be anywhere near a microphone at an event being broadcast live if he is prone to phrasing things "in a clumsy way"...

LuminousAmber · 25/04/2020 09:50

“Whether it was released accidentally or on purpose by the Chinese depends on your POV.“

No it doesn’t. It either is the truth, or it isn’t. Truth and facts doesn’t depend on point of view!

Yes. Should read ‘whether YOU THINK it was released...’

Naturalbornkiller · 25/04/2020 10:16

China have either told alot of lies or have been up to no good.

They managed to stop the virus spreading round the rest of China but couldn't stop it spreading to the rest of the world?

The80sweregreat · 25/04/2020 10:27

China have a lot to answer for its true.

Smellbellina · 25/04/2020 10:49

I’ve watched Donald’s Trumo speech about using some kind of light/heat maybe UV in the body, using some kind of disinfectant in as an injection, I saw the look on his medical advisors face when he asked her about it and her desperately trying to come up with a respectful answer. A cartoonist saying in Twitter it’s fake news and questioning my IQ unfortunately doesn’t make me able to UNSEE it. We’re not quite there, yet...

JudyCoolibar · 25/04/2020 11:46

@JAME0: I have news for you. The fact that you have found someone agreeing with you on Facebook doesn't make what you say true.

No matter how Trump's supporters try to spin it, the fact is that the evidence of what he said is out there for all of us to see and hear.

Luminous I find it very hard to believe that the virus was deliberately manufactured!
