Chest still tight. Feel like I need to cough it all out but cough is unproductive. Day 39 (I think).

Gunner30 · 21/04/2020 23:18

@tangledyarn and @Dorual . I wondered about oral, but the gel didn't seem to make any difference. The corsadyl from earlier seems to have helped a little, but I'll keep you posted.

@crayfishforyou and @godhelpusall hope the dd's are ok and worth checking with the go, they've been really helpful for me. However, rest and not trying to do too much seems to be the best way to manage recovery. Take care

Dorual · 21/04/2020 23:28

@Egghead68 I'll try to not clear my throat. I'm definitely drinking more fluids than I used to, so hopefully that'll help.

@Gunner30 Not sure. Sore throat has only really come on today. It's been sore chest before that. Tough times. I still feel like the road ahead is long too. At least I am able to recover at home.

Egghead68 · 21/04/2020 23:31

Thanks for the link @OneDayAtATime123

Egghead68 · 22/04/2020 06:49

Morning. Day 32/33 and I’ve woken up feeling OK again. I’m going to stick to the same activity levels as yesterday though (5 mins gentle static bike) because I don’t want to push my luck.

Hope everyone has a better day.

Rhona123 · 22/04/2020 09:05

Morning - been struggling with this virus for over 4 weeks. Started with fever, headaches, nausea. Unbelievable tiredness. In bed most of day. No chest pain or shortness of breath. By week 3 I felt better but by no means right and crashed almost every night. Week 4 saw start of gastric symptoms. Managing to eat but mild Diarrhea, loud gastric sounds and stomach sensations. Daytime is bearable but feel much worse from 5pm and through the night. Just so tired, worried and feeling a burden on family now!! This virus peaks and troughs so many times. Reading other stories makes me realise I am not going mad or alone in this fight. Is this the recovery phase or am I still active? Isolating and not seen doc or hospital.

Rosesofeyam · 22/04/2020 09:20

Day 35

I actually slept for eight hours last night. Yay.
My symptoms now are,heartbeat/palpitations, left side pain, back pain, jaw pain,a bit of a sore throat, phlegm in throat, wind and raw stomach feeling and the odd headache.
Still quite a list. Blush My SATS are at 97.
I feel better for getting a good night's sleep.
Off to see if I can manage some breakfast.

I hope everyone is doing okay.

Egghead68 · 22/04/2020 09:21

That sounds familiar @Rhona123. A recent study in the Lancet (linked in the previous page) found that the virus can persist in the body for up to 37 days so yours could still be active. Some people are reporting significant post-viral symptoms after that and some people are getting secondary infections to add to the mix. The good news is that many people on here seem to be improving by the 30s/40s.

Rosesofeyam · 22/04/2020 09:22

Oh,and SOB. But that's been on going from the start.

MillStone · 22/04/2020 09:37

28 days.

Day before yesterday was the best day yet ... but I crashed at tea time and had a terrible night.

Yesterday was a breathless day of terrible back ache, raw chest pains and an increased yet unproductive(?) cough.

Slept better last night but I'm exceptionally wasted today -- my legs are like a new born foal.

An interesting observation is that although yesterday's breathing and chest / back pain was terrible, my oxygen levels were a consistent 99, rather than a steady 98 when I felt better a few days earlier.

My heart is still pumping like someone beating a rug and my night sweats - although lite by comparison - have also started back up 2 nights ago.

The last Dr I spoke to a few days ago said suggested that by mid May (6 weeks since onset) I should be better.

Moodgie · 22/04/2020 09:43

Glad you’re feeling better @Egghead68!
Is anyone else finding their chest tighter when lying down?

MillStone · 22/04/2020 10:43

@Moodgie

Yes very tight when lying down.

I haven't slept in my normal flat, side sleeping position for a month. It restricts my breathing and really amplifies my thumping heart beat.

I've been building big ramps out of several pillows and 2 duvets. The elevated position helps both my breathing and heart beat. The only problem is it can gets a bit warm compared to a mattress.

Moodgie · 22/04/2020 10:54

Thanks @Millstone. The propped up position is definitely beneficial.

Needsomegoodnews · 22/04/2020 10:55

Morning all (day 37 in the crappy covid house). Well after such a good day yesterday it was inevitable I wouldn’t feel as good today - this morning I’ve got a heavy sternum pressure/pain, feel flushed but temp only 37.5, breathing a bit more laboured and heart palpitations again. I’d mentally prepared myself better this time and am focusing on the fact it will improve again and eventually will stop relapsing. Have listened to my body and had a slow morning mostly in bed. I’ve got pressure to get work done but at least with lockdown haven’t got pressure to get dressed or out of the house!

Hope everyone’s doing ok.

Dorual · 22/04/2020 11:16

Morning all. Sorry to hear of a couple of relapses. I'm having a chesty morning again. The cold air definitely aggravates it. But my children want the back door open and paddling pool. Might sit outside but with a hot water bottle on my chest.

tootsey · 22/04/2020 11:27

I don't often post here, but read several times a day. Can anyone tell me if they still have the tremors/internal shakes. Day 37 here and all other symptoms have improved except for the shaking that has increased dramatically. I am getting so down with this. I can cope with all the other symptoms, but my body will not stop trembling. I am worried I have permanent nerve damage.

Porcupineinwaiting · 22/04/2020 11:31

Hi @Tootsey

Day 33ish here. Yes, I get these in bed overnight and first thing in the morning. I also still have other symptoms though - burning lungs, skin and mouth, fatigue- which bother me more. Maybe my tremors arent as bad as yours though.

Countingsheeps · 22/04/2020 11:34

Hi everyone, day 31 (ish) update. Heard back from the drs this morning after blood tests on Monday. The blood tests showed literally nothing wrong! Not sure what to think tbh. I asked if it would be likely to see evidence of having fought off a virus, and the dr said yes, he would have though there would have been something, but as it was 5 weeks ago i started with a cough it is possible it could have gone back to normal by now... he didn’t really have any answer as to why I am still struggling to get out of bed or do anything at all and wasn’t willing to see me at the surgery unless I don’t get better over the next few weeks.... here’s hoping I don’t need to make that appointment, and that you guys are better soon too xxx

Egghead68 · 22/04/2020 11:35

Thanks @Moodgie.

Just for interest, here is a link to a study survey doctors are being asked to complete about neurological and psychiatric symptoms of Covid-19:

www.rcpsych.ac.uk/members/your-faculties/neuropsychiatry/coronerve-surveillance-survey

Moodgie · 22/04/2020 11:35

@Dorual Same, weak and tired and phlegmy, feeling in my chest.

Countingsheeps · 22/04/2020 11:36

@tootsey @Porcupineinwaiting the tremors/ tingling and heavy limb feeling is pretty much my only symptom now other than extreme fatigue. Also worse at night and in morning.

Moodgie · 22/04/2020 11:38

@Countingsheeps What symptoms have you still got apart from fatigue?

Moodgie · 22/04/2020 11:39

@Countingsheeps Ah you have just posted above, sorry. Is your breathing/chest all ok now?

Tangledyarn · 22/04/2020 11:39

@tootsey I'm on day 45 and still have a lot of internal shaking/vibrating x

tootsey · 22/04/2020 11:42

I have so many questions. I want someone to tell me they will stop. I know I am being irrational, but am so sick of sitting shaking all day everyday. I have still have a bit of burning in my back, but it's bearable. I want to feel normal for just a few minutes. I am in NI, tried telling my GP over the phone about this, and he just didn't understand. There doesn't seem to be the same understanding here as on the mainland.
