Thread for continuing long-term Coronavirus support

OP posts:
Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 20:01

@Moodgie I am on day 44 and I be honest I have just been trying out the things people on here and the previous lung threads said worked for them. For me rest, sleep lots of water, eating very tiny meals but a bit more often, paracetamol often when I needed it and breathing exercises . At my worst just getting through the hour and then the next hour and crying and now just do it day by day. Doctor gave me antibiotics on day 21 to help. Yesterday he prescribed me antidepressants to relax me and combat the anxiety and sadness that seemed to be overwhelming me. He said it was to be expected in this climate of fear, intense media coverage(which he told me to avoid as much as possible ) and the fact that I have been ill with an unknown virus which he is said is frightening. He could not of been kinder and also said that it was a good thing to aid my recovery to admit to the mental load we have been carrying and have some help. Sorry for the long post

Sunshinespacecadet · 28/04/2020 20:03

@pinkoneblueone yes, he was 60 and extremely fit with no pre existing conditions

Crayfishforyou · 28/04/2020 20:04

Day 29
My BMI is 18.5, I have lost quite a bit of weight over the last four weeks.
I was a bit anaemic before and probably vitamin d deficient.
My dsis has had this similar to me, I think.i caught it from her. There must be something in our genetics to have reacted like this. Dsis, dd and I have all had a lengthy ordeal. Although dd hasnt fared too badly, she's mainly been tired and pale.
I heard it may affect different blood types differently.
We all have different blood types. I'm A-.

Crayfishforyou · 28/04/2020 20:07

@Sunshinespacecadet I just saw this, I'm so sorry.

@Meercatmama I'm glad your GP was nice to you. Mine was too, it makes a huge difference just to have someone empathise. She told me anyone being ill for so long with this would be anxious. It made me feel better.

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 20:13

@Meercatmama Thank you.

Sunshinespacecadet · 28/04/2020 20:14

Blood group A here too

Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 20:19

I am blood group O negative but I am 56, overweight and was possible Vit d deficient. I also had run myself into the ground with work since Christmas. I was also super exposed by working in a school in Key Stage one where the children are close to you all the time.

Moominmamma33 · 28/04/2020 20:22

www.surveymonkey.com/r/CS232ZJ I've made this very quickly so it's rough and ready. Any feedback is fantastic if it needs changing, otherwise do fill it in and we'll see if the data reveals anything!

musicposy · 28/04/2020 20:24

@Crayfishforyou I’m A- too. I did read somewhere about As being more badly affected.

@isitorisntit I was bang on 9st before this and am now a little underweight at 7st 12 (feeling sick for 7 weeks hasn’t helped) so I don’t think it’s weight related.

Despite autoimmune disorders I considered myself fairly fit before this. I went to the gym with DD1 often 3x a week and we used to do some quite punishing classes together! I was consoling myself I’d otherwise have been worse but reading all the previously fit people on here I’m not so sure.

Once this is over I’m wondering if my new plan should be to sit on the sofa all day and get fat!

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 20:26

@Meercatmama Similar to running myself to the ground with work - secondary school here, plus a lot of stress in the last few months with regards to my son’s health. My second week I actually was at school thinking I was getting better from a cold, and that week was crazy as it was the last one before lockdown. I wonder if I had stayed at home and rested then if I would have been fine by now.

musicposy · 28/04/2020 20:28

@Moominmamma33 is it worth specifying bmi before illness? I’ve crossed over a band due to covid and I’m possibly not the only one looking at replies on here.

musicposy · 28/04/2020 20:31

@Moominmamma33 done it - I think the results could make extremely interesting reading. If a new thread is started it should be in the first post. Is it worth putting it in the lungs thread?

Moominmamma33 · 28/04/2020 20:33

@musicposy Yes good idea, I'm trying but it keeps crashing right now! If anyone completes it before I can edit, please assume it means prior to your illness.

Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 20:33

Its funny because two weeks before I was really ill ( that when I am counting from) I was on the way home and had a coughing fit in the car and then later that night got a sore throat which then went to me being unable to speak for nearly two weeks. I had a cough all the way through those two weeks which I did speak to the doctor about but had no temperatures so they were not worried. I carried on teaching. Children in my class had coughs and some were off with temperatures but I did not put two and two together. I was exhausted but put it down how much work I was doing going towards Sats. However my husband came down exactly 14days later than me from the day I became really ill

tupperwaretowers · 28/04/2020 20:38

@Moominmamma33 fantastic, would be interesting to see how many work in a child heavy environment, schools, nurseries etc.

FabulouslyElegantTits · 28/04/2020 20:47

I've just completed the survey. Day 35 here.

Still suffering some fatigue, headaches and my finger tips are extremely sensitive to cold and go bright red from even going under the cold tap. I also have the intermittent stomach pains and diarrhoea every few days. (I know it's related to my suspected Covid as it has a very distinctive smell 😳)

In the whole I feel ok, but run down.

I'm sorry to everyone who is still really suffering 💐

SimpleKindofLife · 28/04/2020 20:54

Well done @Moominmamma33 I've just submitted my answers.

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 21:00

@Meercatmama I had no fever or cough, hence thought it was just a random bug for the first two weeks too.

Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 21:23

I had the cough and no voice but thought it was just a bug that I often get. I felt tired but brushed that off. No temperatures at that time. Boy did it hit me on the Monday at lunchtime. Could not eat my lunch, temperature, feeling really sick coughing more, Just felt awful and head sent me home. I remember thinking I just want to go home. Even when I rang 111 they were still saying not sure but isolate just in case because I had had the cough over two weeks. Then it all started.

user34254356 · 28/04/2020 21:29

Interesting @Meercatmama as mine started similarly with a dry cough for about 5 days and then eventually the flu like symptoms on day 6 when i told work that i need to take the afternoon off as I couldn't function.

I have been saying i am on day 42 from the first day i took to bed, but technically if I add those 5 days on top then I am on day 47! I still haven't figured out when to start counting the days from.

Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 21:39

Mine lasted about 13 days before I was sent home. So I started counting from the day I was sent home which is 44 days but if I add on the 13 days before it would make 57 days. However from the day I took to bed it followed the timings exactly so days 6/7 really bad and also 9/10. I was on the first lungs thread as I was desperate for information and felt so alone.

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 21:55

I am 55/37.

Tangledyarn · 28/04/2020 21:57

I was 9 stone pre covid lost half a stone but am gaining now I have my apetite back, although still struggling to eat large amounts as it makes me breathless. I started with a sore throat 8 weeks ago which I still have now and i keep losing my voice if I talk for longer than 20 mins, so it's really dragging on.

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 22:00

@Tangledyarn Have you had sore throat throughout? Mine reappeared last week.

Meercatmama · 28/04/2020 22:05

Mine reappeared yesterday along with the cough again
