Why is everyone so eager to get vaccinated?

FTMF30 · 15/04/2020 09:39

What I mean by this is that a SAFE vaccine for coronavirus wouldn't be available for at least a couple of years. Vaccines need to be thoroughly tested and, although a lot of Mumsnetters don't like to believe it, vaccine injury IS REAL.

It's very sinister how very interested Bill Gates has become in the pharma industry in the last few years and how he advocates forced vaccines, or at least loss of freedom of movement/access for those who choose not to vaccinate (which is pretty much a forced vaccine). He doesn't care about vaccine injury as we are basically collateral damage to his end goal.

Is it not fair to be wary of a rushed vaccine? Is it not fair to not want to be vaccinated if I'm not fully ware of the implications just yet? When I come on here, I see a lot of people who are very happy that we have to stay inside (I understand the reason for this), I see people who are quarantining food and washing eggs and would take a vaccine if one was available tomorrow. I find it quite alarming how we've been fed stories about death after death after death, really biased stuff with hardly any balanced information. We've been frightened into being heavily controlled and that's the thing that really scares me.

Blimey never seen so many cookies, counted 72 and only the top line of the large post of cookies from 2nd page. Here's another one. Biscuit

whatashower · 15/04/2020 12:42

I can only speak for my own biscuit but that was given not for any rational and legitimate discussion on the possible risks of a rushed vaccine - or any treatment for Covid-19, but for the extrapolation to a 'sinister Bill Gates', being 'fed stories of death....really biased' and 'being frightened into being heavily controlled' .

Isleepinahedgefund · 15/04/2020 12:44

Yeah vaccines are shit. Bring back polio! 🕺🏻

Isleepinahedgefund · 15/04/2020 12:44

IRONIC by the way

Joliany · 15/04/2020 12:45

😂

barnabybenny · 15/04/2020 12:46

Yep, so the gist of it is that because Bill Gates wants more money he's funding a vaccine that he wants rushing through (so that he can make more money) and then he'll run off into the sunset...

OP by your own theory this is ridiculous - if the rushed vaccine causes all of these injuries, what will happen to Bill Gates then? Ruined possibly? Why oh why would anyone fund millions and more into a vaccine to make a quick buck (when he has no monetary need) and risk all of his money and the potential of ever making more?

Stop scare mongering - I knew the anti vax crew would pipe up sooner or later (and yeah they all skip out the line 'my kids are vaccinated' as a way of being credible - off point here a second but I think its ironic that anti vaxxers use that reason to make themselves credible). The vaccine will be ready when it is ready, it will be as safe as it can be, there will be no 'rush' which will compromise the safety of the vaccine.

I especially love the part where you declare you'd rather take your chances with corona, that was special! In fact, since you are so benevolent, why don't you jog along to the front line and put your money where your mouth is?

There is no conspiracy going on. We are at the mercy of a virus which will continue to affect the world. Instead of scaremongering and trashing the tiny shreds of hope the world has of getting back to 'normal' I suggest you go and educate yourself. Step away from your keyboard because nothing you have said on here is remotely helpful, people are scared.

Cremebrule · 15/04/2020 12:47

I hope the research community gets this sorted. We’ll owe the scientists a great debt when they do. I think it is legitimate for people to be worried about the timescale but really so many resources have been thrown at it, it seems like it is more fast tracking rather than rushing. The other stuff in the OP did sound bonkers.

It also doesn’t help to pretend vaccines can’t cause harm as some posters seem to have done. For some individuals they do which is why there are government compensation schemes. There is a page on it in the booklet they give parents re all the baby vaccinations. At a population level that harm is vastly outweighed by the benefits of vaccines.

frumpety · 15/04/2020 12:48

@sergeilavrov interesting name choice ! Great post Smile

ICantBelieveInYou · 15/04/2020 12:49

I don't think Bill Gatesis doing it for the money, OP. He is already among the richest in the world. He doesn't need the money and is famous for his philanthropy.

Yes, there is a greater risk from a rushed vaccine. I'd say my 70 year old parents with blood pressure problems would rather risk the vaccine than Covid. I'll probably not. Not at first anyway.

lesleyw1953 · 15/04/2020 12:49

Darwin award?

BrooHaHa · 15/04/2020 12:51

the OP states as a fact (which is not true according to actual scientists, WHO, NHS etc etc) that vaccination harm is real in the opening paragraph

How can vaccination harm not be real? That makes very little sense, statistically speaking.

For example, the rotavirus vaccine babies get in the newborns vacs carries a 2 in 100,000 risk of intussusception. This causes a blockage in the intestine, is a medical emergency and necessitates a hospital stay. It may require surgery. There were 657,076 live births in England and Wales in 2018. If they were all vaccinated, that'd be 13 babies experiencing this side effect. Now, overall, the numbers show that the reward is greater than the risk, and without the vaccine, far more than 13 of those babies would end up in hospital because of rotavirus. But that doesn't change the fact that those thirteen are in hospital because of the vaccine. Thus, for those thirteen, the vaccine caused harm.

bluebeck · 15/04/2020 12:54

people who .....would take a vaccine if one was available tomorrow.

I don't believe I have come across anyone on here or IRL who would happily be vaccinated with a product that had not been properly tested.

So your whole point is a moot point. Or possibly a Moo Point Grin

Bill Gates is such an awful man.... giving billions of his own money to fund research into disease and disease prevention... funding vaccine research for poor countries - money for malaria prevention, and now he wants to fund a vaccine to prevent people dying from Covid-19.... ...🙄

Of course the tin hatters have suggested (amongst other things) that he really is looking at a vaccine to chip us all and follow our moments. Personally if Bill Gates wants to know what I am doing I will let him know 🤣

Amotherof6 · 15/04/2020 12:59

The reason I object to the OP's post is the following bit
"It's very sinister how very interested Bill Gates has become in the pharma industry in the last few years"

Is it sinister....really is it?

LeeMiller · 15/04/2020 13:02

I too am worried about Bill Gates' motives

What do you think those motives might be, if not philanthropic? He's not exactly short of cash.

cybercontroller · 15/04/2020 13:04

What do conspiracy theorists have against Bill Gates? He's not even Jewish, like their usual targets.

StarUtopia · 15/04/2020 13:05

OP - you're on a loser to start with. These sheep on MN will never agree that vaccines can cause injuries. The elite are doing their job well, and people aren't questioning anything - just rushing to inject stuff into themselves (and more worrying their children) without any concerns at all. Mind boggling!!!

Your post is asking a perfectly question. I agree with you. I for one will not be injecting anything into my body that hasn't been completely tested.

And yes. Anyone who doesn't understand that Bill Gates IS a VILLAIN seriously need to give their head a wobble.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 15/04/2020 13:07

Such a shame you can't vaccinate against
Stupidity

TowandaForever · 15/04/2020 13:08

Does anyone know more about this microchip in the vaccine that people are talking about?

Why does trump hate the WHO?

My kids and me have all the vaccines btw.

Why does trump hate the WHO?

Widely believed to be in the pocket of the Chinese government and thus failed to hold China to account for its data on and handling of the outbreak.

Silvergreen · 15/04/2020 13:14

This is just what happens when people who aren't very bright have continuous access to lots of information with no skills to synthesise any of it.

I don’t think Bill Gates is making any money at all out of his interest in global health. It’s entirely charitable. I will def get the vaccine as soon as available.
