Just in case we have more crimes, murders and general mischief to confess to.

Please leave your shoes at the door, have a Dettol wash and then stand awkwardly while not consuming any perishables.

Ironic smiles and head tilts are ALOUD but absolutely no laughter, fun or enjoying yourselves.

Disinfectant and disposable whips will be provided.

@Shitsgettingcrazy if it is safe to do so I was going to offer a sympathetic virtual shoulder pat.

My assistant was furloughed so now I do my assistant's job plus my own. Not sure this was what was meant by furloughing.

Willow2017 · 14/04/2020 21:44

My ds2 loves Supernatural Pribcess i need to get back into it myself am way behind!

MutteringDarkly · 14/04/2020 21:50

Yes! Me too, me too. Whole team furloughed except me, I'm picking up all of it. I am run ragged.
Except I do have two extra days of annual leave this week and it's bliss.

I went into the front garden (bong goes the death toll) this evening to hack away at the jungle. Came back in once it was dark and have just remembered I left a huge pile of branches on the pavement where they fell...so now I'll also be killing folk by actually tripping them over. That'll teach people to take their daily walk Grin

isabellerossignol · 14/04/2020 22:06

I've just got sucked into commenting on another thread without realising that I was responding to that poster. I had disengaged a couple of days ago and now I'm sucked back in by accident Blush

isabellerossignol · 14/04/2020 22:07

I think most of us on this thread have probably tried reasoning with that particular poster at some stage in the past few weeks but to no avail!

Shitsgettingcrazy · 14/04/2020 22:27

GnomeDePlume the shoulder pat is appreciated.

I am sure my company just decided they could save some money. Didnt really give a shit about anyone. The people furloughed or the people staying. I am doing my whole teams job and twice in 8 days he has decided, it's a good time to change reporting. No heads up. Once I have done the report, he comes back with 'I want this one different'. Plus I have board reports to do.

They dont care. They want the same work for less money. Its win win for them.

MutteringDarkly you have my sympathy too. Unfortunately, I can't have annual leave until this is over. I am living for the bank holidays at the moment.

An email went out to furloughed employees today. Part of it was saying how much they were supporting the staff who were staying on. Apparantly we have had risk assessments and mental health checks in. All bollocks.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 14/04/2020 22:28

isabellerossignol which thread?

HalfDutchGirl · 14/04/2020 22:36

I got plants, compost and bark (gasp, shock, horror) from B&Q click and collect. Excellent service (though a long online queue, but it you leave the page open and keep popping back it keeps your place), ordered it Thursday and collected it Monday.

I will be venturing into my front garden tomorrow, I have a taser gun ready if anyone dares catch my eye or attempt conversation.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 14/04/2020 22:39

Never mind.....I got sucked in too. Was on the thread before, posted again. Realised it was that certain poster.

I think I am just going to avoid the rest of mn for a while.

isabellerossignol · 14/04/2020 22:41

Shitsgettingcrazy was just about to post the link but I see you found it.

I'm convinced that poster is either a complete wind up merchant or such a bitter individual that they can't bear the thought of anyone having even the slightest bit of joy in their life.

TheGreatWave · 14/04/2020 22:57

Evening all, I am afraid what has come about today for me is of a serious nature.

Dd2 said "Mom*, there's water dripping from the ceiling."

Whilst there is never a good time for a shower to spring a leak, this perhaps has to be the absolute worst. I then realised House Insurance needed to be renewed and actually paid for so sorted that. Luckily I have found a plumber to come on Friday, so yeah people in my house. There is a false ceiling so we are not entirely sure what is going on. Apparently as there is water dripping this can be counted as an emergency, but I will still await my fate.

All this whilst trying to work. I didn't get to B&M so will do that murderous shop tomorrow. I will hide any offending items in my bag and put the food on top.

  • I am some strange Brummie living in a land of Mam's and have not been taken over by America.
LilacTree1 · 14/04/2020 23:20

GreatWave sorry to hear that. Hope it gets sorted ASAP.

Willow2017 · 14/04/2020 23:36

Is there one thread on here (apart from the 2 i am on regularly) that doesnt drag Cv19 into it and shame the op for thinking about anything bad that has happened to them when PEOPLE ARE DYING? Ffs shit still happens to people and its still shit despite bloody CV19. Its not a competition which gives you the right to tell people that others are more miserable so stfu about your problems!
I am getting seriously fed up with all the holier than thou brigade.

Willow2017 · 14/04/2020 23:37

Hope the leak is fixed pdq TheGreatWave typical that stuff always happens at the worst time.

Ok thanks will check it out.

cadburyegg · 15/04/2020 00:15

There is now a 10+ page thread from a poster wanting to report her neighbour for having too much shopping delivered. I am crying with laughter at some of the responses. I am going to hell

GnomeDePlume · 15/04/2020 05:15

And here I am up again before even the crack of sparrows because the dog got lonely 30s after DH left the house to go to work. He is now sitting on the sofa happily slurping away at ghastly places on his body.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3880924-Posts-containing-false-facts-laws I don’t even know why I’m bothering. Yes it’s stressing me out a bit, it’s the same couple of posters, but nothing will happen despite the false info. I think I need a hot cross bun!

Thepigeonsarecoming · 15/04/2020 05:28

Sorry didn’t mean to to miserable, binge watched the series finales of the good doctor and criminal minds! So tears are happening. God I used to to cheerful, sorry

Shitsgettingcrazy · 15/04/2020 05:29

I'm convinced that poster is either a complete wind up merchant or such a bitter individual that they can't bear the thought of anyone having even the slightest bit of joy in their life.

Me too. Though I am leaning towards the second one. GF or not, they clearly just very much dislike people in general.

Mn really have really disappointed me with moderation, recently. One poster posted that she had just found out she will due if she gets covid, because if a fairly mild condition. She read it on a facebook group. People challenged it, but some posters came along with 'I have this, this is really worrying'. Mn wouldnt deleted it, despite the 'facts' being total bollocks and it clearly worrying people and told me to hide the thread.

I cant help wonder if the dramatic posts are helping keep their numbers up, so wont delete.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 15/04/2020 05:30

GnomeDePlume I am doing exactly the same. Keeping little doggo company.....while she goes back to sleep. Older doggo looks pissed off about the TV disturbing her.

GnomeDePlume · 15/04/2020 06:20

I think I find the 'dont you know there is a war virus on?' responses to even the most reasonable post the most dispiriting. There is always the accompanying 'FFS' for emphasis.

@Shitsgettingcrazy totally agree about some of the reasons for furloughing. My assistant was furloughed as a token gesture, so that every team could be seen to be 'doing their bit'.

There has been a lot of talk about 'being in this together', 'just do what's needed'. The reality is that we are busier than ever with reporting, forecasting, re-forecasting, re-reporting. We have a few very senior managers justifying their existence by flogging people further down the chain.

This is dog right now. Elegant as ever.

Do you like the bald patch on his chest? He has always had that. He is labrador/border collie but rather than being a blend he seems to have been constructed from leftover parts:

Head: Labrador
Snout: Border Collie
Body: Labrador (chunky)
Fur: Border Collie (doesnt quite fit hence bald patch)
Legs: Border Collie (too spindly for body)

Anyway, the sparrows have now cracked so I had better away and go to work. Shall I start the day as me or my assistant? Decisions, decisions.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 15/04/2020 06:28

GnomeDePlume yep reporting is a bitch. Because people want more to monitor the situation. So getting rid of the reporting team, is not helpful. There is work. Maybe not for all of us, full time. But at least 80%. I am just about to log on now.

My little one is the same. She was a rescue. She was abandoned with 3 siblings. She is some sort of spaniel, mixed with god knows what. She is like a cut and shut, rather than a blend.

Looks likes photos of cockers cross labrador in face. But short legs long body, huge paws. No idea how big she will get as I am sure she is smaller than my other cocker at the same age. The other one is quite small as an adult.

It's a game of wait and see what she turns out like. We took her and her siblings in at 6 weeks as foster. Then adopted her. So feels like we have had her ages, but she is still tiny.

Maxandezra · 15/04/2020 08:24

morning all
gnomw very cute dog.
shits hope work isnt too bead*
princess Ill be sure to lob an extra apple in my box for you on my non essential trip today - great advice ta!

so, I had the strangest dream this morning. I dreamt lock down was ended, just like that - they said - its all over from tomorrow. great, you would think, but that meant they then decided to hold the postponed Manchester Marathon I was meant to be doing tomorrow instead of october. And I just kept saying..."but Im not ready...." and I couldn't find my running shoes, or shorts ...etc and I woke up in a sweaty panicky mess. I suspect this clearly tells me it is time to stop eating All The Cake and drinking All The Wine and actually get back to my running or I will still not be ready by the proper date in October Grin

Last day of annual leave today then back to it tomorrow. Dreading it but hey ho.
Planning a bit more gardening today, will also do another run later. Also probably should attempt to tackle the mountain of washing and actually do some cleaning....joy!
I do have my pleasent unessential garden centre trip to look forward to though....so that will be a few thousand killed right there! (in fairness it is a really small family run garden centre, all outside except the till and I will be buying fruit and veg!)

I made the mistake of glancing at some of the other threads on this board again just now - OMG. People have actually totally lost the plot havent they. Must stop reading them as it just winds me up.

right...off to top up my coffee , have a fabulous day crazy murderers.
