My chest feels more wheezy today. If I try and raise my voice or laugh I’m coughing loads. I’m so fed up of zero sympathy from anyone. Just dirty looks from Dh when I cough 😔

Annie20061 · 29/04/2020 19:25

@sheilatakeabow i am really pleased to hear this it sounds as if you’re on the mend 👍

SophieB100 · 29/04/2020 19:48

@SheilaTakeABow
Glad you've had a better day. Please rest though, this virus (as all viruses) ebbs and flows, so rest as much as you can, even on a good day. You'll suffer for it if you do too much.

SheilaTakeABow · 29/04/2020 19:54

Thanks @Annie20061, although having been reading these threads for a fortnight I know better than to get my hopes up Confused.
Sorry you're not feeling any better @Mummypig2020, would it be worth calling 111 again?

SheilaTakeABow · 29/04/2020 19:59

@SophieB100, oh, absolutely. I was lucky to be able to totally rest all last week which I think really helped. Today has involved nothing more taxing than supervising homeschooling and gentle indoor playing - I was glad of the rain!

AvocadoPrime · 29/04/2020 20:36

Hi all, so I feel pathetic its day 13 today from when I first got a sore throat. I feel terrible :( woke up feeling slightly better this morning. By lunchtime I was back in bed. My upper back, chest and throat are in agony. Still no fever, and a barely there cough. Lots of 'phlegm' coming up. I'm totally wiped out. I've cried at least 3 times today. I feel scared and helpless. And pathetic for sharing it here but here I am doing it anyway. I hope you are all okay!

SheilaTakeABow · 29/04/2020 21:07

Oh, @AvocadoPrime, don't feel pathetic. It's really scary. Have you got anyone with you? Have you spoken to 111 or your GP? Are you taking any painkillers? Just try to rest as much as possible and keep hydrated.

AvocadoPrime · 29/04/2020 21:12

@SheilaTakeABow my partner is downstairs my 14mo is sleeping. I spoke to a GP monday I wasnt as bad, he said it was a virus couldnt be sure if covid or not. I've taken paracetamol and naproxen, also a throat numbing spray. Chest feels so tight :( I'm drinking lots and hardly been out of bed in 2 days

SheilaTakeABow · 29/04/2020 21:27

Have you tried the Queens breathing exercises? I'm not great at links, but should come up if you search YouTube. If you're breathing is getting worse, you can call 111 again. Do you have an oximeter?

SheilaTakeABow · 30/04/2020 09:15

And as sure as day follows night, I've had one of my worst nights and the burning lungs and terror are back. Along with a strange feeling at the back of my tongue. Bollocks.
How's everyone else this morning?

Annie20061 · 30/04/2020 10:10

@sheilatakeabow i am sorry to hear you had an awful night. It seems so up & down this awful virus. After the bad night i had tuesday i had a good night last night. Feel good so far today - i will make sure not to overdo it. Hope you feel better as the day goes on or better tomorrow.

AvocadoPrime · 30/04/2020 10:19

@SheilaTakeABow I am sorry to hear you dont feel great today :(
@annie20061 I'm glad you are having a better day.

I spoke to the NHS 111 covid response people this morning, they said they dont think its covid and to ring the GP due to the fact my cough isnt bad.
GP thinks covid is unlikely too and has given me an appointment to see her and have an ECG and a good check over. Currently trying to find the energy to wash or she may just think my stink is making me ill

SheilaTakeABow · 30/04/2020 11:40

Thanks @Annie20061 and @AvocadoPrime. The one thing I am conscious of is I spent hardly any time outdoors yesterday compared to the past few weeks, as spent most of the day indoors with heating on to boot. Obviously, fresh air doesn't cure this bloody thing, but I'll certainly be out more today!
I'm pleased you're being seen Avocado, I think a good check over is what a lot of people need, either for early treatment or reassurance.
And I'm pleased you're having a better day Annie - take it easy and long may it continue!

AvocadoPrime · 30/04/2020 17:29

Just a little update from me.. doctor sent me to hospital as wasnt impressed with my heart rate. Hospital scanned my lungs which were clear, bloods were fine. Gave me a bag of fluids and swabbed me for flu and corona. They reckon I've had a bad virus and I'm recovering which could take 6 weeks. They think it's gone now or that my body is doing a good job fighting it. My results should be back later.

Theforest · 30/04/2020 17:42

So...new on the thread - hi all.

I had breathing difficulties 3 weeks ago. No cough, no temp. Not terrible, but enough to scare me. Called 111 who advised to speak to GP. He said it may or may not be COVID but advised rest etc. Call back if it gets worse.

Breathing was better after a week but still getting tight chest and back. So not worse thankfully, but I am not back to normal. Will a GP do anything/can be do anything, or should I just wait and see if it gets better? There seems to have been little advice for those managing at home..

HollysBush · 30/04/2020 18:43

No harm to contact your gp for advice, Theforest
I was thrilled this morning to find I could move with out it feeling like I was in a vat a treacle. I sat and folded a small bag of laundry then put them away(in the same room). I then had a splitting headache and felt sick for most of the afternoon 😔

SheilaTakeABow · 30/04/2020 18:52

How do you feel now @AvocadoPrime? Is it reassuring that you've had a check over? I worry a bit about my heart rate, and it was the only thing off about my obs when I went to the Corona hub, but I'm fairly certain it shoots up as soon as I put my oximeter on as i get so anxious.
I'm like you @Theforest - I'm managing at home but I never feel quite right. However, my breathing is increasingly bad at night and so I might give my GP another ring tomorrow. After a few good days, I now feel like I'm constantly waiting for it to get worse.

Katkincake · 30/04/2020 19:29

So haven’t posted since the original thread when I got symptoms around 13/14 March. Been fine for weeks and now the flushed head, breathlessness and awful backache are back plus a bit of a cough yesterday - admittedly nothing is as bad as before. DH has an upset stomach which he had originally, but nothing else.

I now qualify for testing - should I go along (with family) to see if it is CV, what are the tests like for those that have had it - don’t fancy putting DS 5 through it if painful.

Annie20061 · 01/05/2020 04:56

@Katkincake i went monday the test isn’t painful. They swab the back of the throat twice, first one fine, second makes you gag a little bit and then they put the swab up your nose. All over in less than a minute. We had to wait in the car queueing for over an hour to be tested - they won’t allow you to have the windows down during this time until you are tested. The wait is worse than the test.
My partner had his results Wednesday but inam still waiting for mine.

Katkincake · 01/05/2020 06:43

Thanks @Annie20061 that’s reassuring to hear. Hopefully you’ll get your results soon. A friend is manning my nearest centre so if I do go I hope we get to go when she’s on shift Smile

Annie20061 · 01/05/2020 07:54

@SheilaTakeABow hope last night was a better night for you. After a couple of improved days, last night was awful up from 1am with shortness of breath, burning chest & unable to sleep. I really thought this time i was on the mend. Going to call the GP see if they can suggest anything.

Cusano34 · 01/05/2020 09:30

Hi all,
New here too! Hope it’s ok to jump in!
Mid March I went to the doctors as I was feeling breathless and couldn’t get through a story book...! Had an ECG all fine, cough came out a few days later but I put it all down to feeling anxious about lockdown etc.
About 3 weeks ago my cough came back along with weird bowel movements (not quite Diarrhea) I had no appetite and just general feelings like I wasn’t right. Cough is still there and a lot of shallow breathing going on it’s so uncomfortable. Haven’t had any pains and barely a temperature ( touches wood) had to go to a and e with palps as suggested by 111 again ecg fine, all OBS ok, full blood count fine.

Has anyone else felt like this and it just linger and longer? Has anyone returned back to work?
I’m signed off for another week now but eurgh just feels I’m gonna feel like this forever :/
Also the stomach issues. My appetite is back now and I’m eating more than I did before but my bowels are just not right! (Sorry if too much info!)

Also energy wise...I can do most things throughout the day but in the eve by 7pm I’m flat out in the sofa! Anxiety is playing a huge part too...does anyone else feel like that?

Oh also I had a negative swab about 2 weeks ago but I dunno what else this could be.

I really hope everyone feels a bit better soon. 💓

SheilaTakeABow · 01/05/2020 10:23

Morning all. Sorry you've had a bad night @Annie20061, this bloody thing is so unpredictable. I hope your GP can help.
I had a much better night thanks, the first one in a week where I didn't wake up. I've also noticed that my heart rate has settled; I've had a racing heart and palpitations throughout feeling ill, so feeling calm and rested is a nice change!
Welcome @Cusano34, it's becoming clear that a great deal of people don't get this cough we're all supposed to get Hmm

Cusano34 · 01/05/2020 11:16

@sheilatakeabow (can’t figure out how to tag)!
Ahh I’m pleased to hear your palps and heart rate are better. That’s part of the problem for me :(
The cough is just so annoying. It’s there one day and not the next.
Is everyone still isolating away from their families after all this time? 111 told me last week I didn’t have too anymore x

RickyBooth · 01/05/2020 11:32

Yes I did not get the cough also just a long list of symptoms but im now feeling much better still get lump in throat that seems to come and go a little out of breath now and again odd strange ache in lung but comes and goes just to reassure all it does take time but it does get better.
