@Annie20061 - that's exactly how I was last night. As soon as I lie down, even on my front, I feel myself struggling to breathe. I stupidly thought I'd seen the worst of it, but feel like I'm back to square one again.
@MrsPworkingmummy - thanks, I didn't know about that. DH says work are fine, but I've told him just in case. How are you feeling now?

MrsPworkingmummy · 23/04/2020 09:56

@SheilaTakeABow well, I'm certainly better than I was. Really thought I was dying over the weekend. Still have the illness hanging over me. Very little energy. Find it difficult walking around the house. However, I'm only sleeping at night now and not all day like I was on days 1 to 7. Starting to feel bored lying in bed all day where last week, that wasn't popping into my head. I have a mildly burning back and am still getting periods of breathlessness. But, definitely better than I was a few days ago.

SheilaTakeABow · 23/04/2020 09:58

@IamEarthymama - my GP was great, and we're lucky to have a corona hub in our town where you can get an isolated physical check. My chest sounded clear on Tuesday so I take that as a good sign.
@Jouley, I'm asthmatic too, which is what scares me so much. I have Fostair and Ventolin and I find they really do help, but then I get paranoid that they're making the problem.
I've had health anxiety in the past and it's most definitely rearing its ugly head again now

SheilaTakeABow · 23/04/2020 10:01

That's interesting @MrsPworkingmummy, maybe I'm not as far in as I thought. I got up a couple of times yesterday when maybe I should have just accepted staying in bed.
Has anyone asked their GP or who ever about being tested? I was quite blase about the idea of testing, kind of toed the party line about it not being vital, until I got the bloody thing, AND NOW I JUST WANT TO KNOW!

MrsPworkingmummy · 23/04/2020 10:11

@SheilaTakeABow I am contemplating phoning my GP to ask. We have a drive through testing site about 10 miles away and as we're both key workers (I'm in shielded group too) I think it's important myself and family are tested.

SheilaTakeABow · 23/04/2020 10:15

@MrsPworkingmummy, I think you have a good case to be tested - I'm just bloody curious! May I ask why you're shielded? I have asthma which I've always thought of as mild, but my inhaler is apparently one that signifies you have severe asthma according to Asthma UK - although they seem to have rowed back from that now and I've had no letter.

MrsPworkingmummy · 23/04/2020 11:01

@SheilaTakeABow I'm in a gray area as I have a 10cm thyroid goitre that has displaced my windpipe meaning breathing problems could be emphasised.

BreathlessCommotion · 23/04/2020 11:56

There's no guarantee of being paid for the 14 days isolation. That's at the discretion of the employer or contract/policies. I'm fairly certain they could make him use annual leave or other unpaid leave.

In my area the only key workers bring tested are those with symptoms so that know whether to stay at home or whether they can work. If you are shielding and not at work then you wouldn't qualify. It's basically only intended to stop staff shortages.

I'm really tired today and still wheezy. Trying to homeschool two children and work! I need a nap!

BreathlessCommotion · 23/04/2020 11:57

Definitely ask about testing though. Different areas might have different rules.

Annie20061 · 23/04/2020 13:03

Hi, phoned gp this morning & just been to a corona hub but they are only checking people over not doing any testing there. They have prescribed me some antibiotics as they feel that it may have now turned into a bacterial infection.

Broadwayb · 23/04/2020 13:14

I don’t even know if I’ve had it Jouley

  • weirdest diarrhoea ever which lasted about a week and was like no other stomach bug I’ve ever had. Terrible stomach pain but weird diarrhoea, not violent and not lots of it.

  • one episode of very high temperature (nearly passed out) which lasted an hour or two. This came a day after the diarrhoea had cleared up.

  • 10-14 days of odd burning lungs feeling, mildly short of breath, chest felt tight. Slight sore throat, but if a headache. All of this very mild.

*then symptoms disappeared for a week or so before the chest tightness, sore lungs, shortness of breath, intermittent headache came back - again, very mild but I was very tired.

*disappeared again for a week, now back again but less tired and no headache.

I have no idea if this is something or nothing, if part of it was Covid or all of it was or none of it was. If it isn’t, then I have no idea what is/was wrong with me.

Annie20061 · 23/04/2020 15:52

@Broadwayb sounds as if it is it seems to keep coming back. Had mine for 17 days now can’t wait for it to go started really feeling better the last couple of days as well

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 16:07

About day 26/7 now here. After a bad few days I felt well enough to get out of bed and sit in the garden today. Very short of breath still but managed a 10 minute walk on the flat. Heart rate high on activity but my GP said don't worry too much about that and to call if it gets to 100 on resting.
Upper back pain still, sore throat and windpipe but not as raw as earlier in the week. On antibiotics still - don't feel they've done much good so I think all of these symptoms are viral. Very tired still.

SheilaTakeABow · 23/04/2020 19:13

I'm so sorry for all those still suffering. It really is the most peculiar thing. I've spent most of the afternoon feeling pretty much as normal, having spent the morning too shattered to talk and nauseous.
Now, heading into evening, my chest is starting to tighten again and I'm once again worrying about sleeping.
How have people managed to isolate in the house? I'm not entirely sure when my symptoms started - mild chest pains started at Easter - so I'm worried the damage is already done Sad

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 23:09

@SheilaTakeABow, I isolated the day the temperature developed. Dh decamped to the attic and left all meals etc outside for the best part of 10 days. We are still wearing masks, gloves if we're in the same room as I'm not sure I'm clear yet (although should be post viral by now).

I'm hoping to get a testing slot when the bookings open tomorrow but they're advising these are done around Day 3 - I'm well beyond that but I'd like to check anyway.

Jouley · 24/04/2020 09:03

Hi everyone, hope the night went well. I had been thinking I was quite 'mild' and then last night from 8pm onwards I felt awful, breathless, coughing, and a racing feeling in my heart. So that's day 6 done and I'm now dreading tonight. I've registered for a test as my DH is desperate to go to work. What day is optimal for testing as I'm 95%this is it and yet he is going to rely on the test not me Hmm
Hope you are all well. Anyone else registering for the test? (I'm a key worker and so is DH)

Porcupineinwaiting · 24/04/2020 09:25

I've heard it said that day 3 is optimal from the test. My next door neighbour had one done on day 6 (is waiting for the results). I think any time during the first couple of weeks when you are full of symptoms should be fine as long as they get a good sample.

Lightsabre · 24/04/2020 09:45

I've registered but I'm Day 28 but still breathless with a few other symptoms. Just waiting for the text that tells you what to do next. I'm more interested in an antibody test and also whether my dh has had it as-in the past, he'll sneeze for a day but I'll get the full cold. He might be a carrier/asymptotic.

SheilaTakeABow · 24/04/2020 10:26

@Lightsabre, thanks. I'm worried I've already spread it thanks to my early symptoms being mild/inconsistent, but I've isolated as far as possible in a small house with two kids since it became obvious this week.

I should perhaps have been more cautious, but this highlights the concerns about the ongoing promotion of cough and fever as being the symptoms - too many people will start with different ones that can be easily explained by other things, such as hayfever in my case, and unwittingly spread it. Not to shift the responsibility from myself at all, but it does seem to be a potential issue.

@Jouley, please don't worry about tonight's sleep, I've found that a bad night doesn't necessarily follow a bad night. I had a decent night last night propped up with pillows, even though I'd spent the whole day worrying about it.
Hope everyone who's entitled gets a test and gets the answers they need Flowers

IamEarthymama · 24/04/2020 10:55

Good morning, just checking in to say I feel better this morning.
So much so that I am tidying a bedroom, something I planned to do when work ended but have felt too dreadful to attempt

Still find myself holding my breath as though I am scared to let go of it.
Hope everyone is improving and resting

Annie20061 · 24/04/2020 12:18

@IamEarthymama me too i had a good night & feel better today pottering around the house. I hope it continues as i feel like this one day & then have an awful night. I propped myself up with pillows.

It seems like we are all getting better gradually

RickyBooth · 24/04/2020 12:34

Seems we all are getting a little better. For me today got up short of breath and feel like the bloody lump is back in throat. But other than that I feel ok. had 2 ibuprofen see if that settles things down.

Lightsabre · 24/04/2020 15:03

@RickyBooth, did you discuss the ibuprofen with your GP? I'm wondering if it would help me but too scared to take it due to the earlier reports of it being contra indicated.

RickyBooth · 24/04/2020 15:09

@Lightsabre I was worried also but he said there was no indication that ibuprofen would cause any issues except for my mild asthma but as iv taken it before I knew I had no bad reactions but to be on safe side id ask GP.

Lightsabre · 24/04/2020 15:14

Thanks @RickyBooth, I'm due to call my GP again on Monday for a sick note so will do. Is the ibuprofen having any effect?
