A dry cough turning into a productive cough can be a sign of recovery @Doural, so if you are feeling no worse in yourself (no spike in temp) and your breathing remains fine I wouldn't worry too much. I had a course of antibiotics when zI started coughing up yellow mucus (sorry, tmi) - I am not sure they did much e cept reassure me.

Lots to drink (to help make mucus less sticky), regular steam inhalation, breathing exercises and expectorant cough syrup are all good for coughing up stuff. Hot honey and lemon can do in place of cough syrup if you dont have any.

Dorual · 17/04/2020 11:54

Thank you. I will try those things. I hope it signifies the start of recovery. I keep thinking negative thoughts that it us my lung lining getting inflamed, and when it gets to a certain point, oxygen transfer won't be able to happen

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 17/04/2020 12:20

Flowers @Lightsabre here's hoping we both turn the corner permenantly soon! I hope work are being sympathetic and not making you feel you're taking the piss. x

Computersaysok · 17/04/2020 12:25

Carrotcakeforbreakfast

I had no temp at aĺl, but absolutely 100% everything else, G.P has said supspected Covid 19.

Crayfishforyou · 17/04/2020 12:53

Day 18ish
After feeling relatively normal since tuesday I went to bed feeling freezing cold and had a few chills and sweats last night. Today I am back to tinnitus, dizziness, chest pain, jelly legs, and a splitting headache.
My bpm and sats are normal but my blood pressure is elevated. My bpm was over 100 this morning but has settled now.

Dsis has been diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday, I'm hoping some of my symptoms are anxiety for her.
I'm terrified I'm starting another 'heart attack' like last week. I'm not mucking about this time, now I know my blood pressure is upping I'm getting DH to ring 111 if it happens again.

WHEN WILL THIS END?????

Msloverlover · 17/04/2020 13:03

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast I had no temp, whereas my dd (who presumably I caught it from) had a temp and no other obvious symptoms (she is only just 2 so couldn’t tell me much). Gp suspected it based on chest pain alone but then I gradually got more symptoms.

Msloverlover · 17/04/2020 13:05

@Crayfishforyou I’m sorry you are feeling bad again. It must be really dispiriting after thinking you are getting better.

MillStone · 17/04/2020 13:29

@Dorual

Hi, sorry you feel like this. It's hard not to panic.

I have exactly the same sensations as you describe and it's horrible. I think you are right -- it's inflammation. There's nothing there(?).

My cough comes and goes from day to day with seemingly no reason or pattern. Sometimes it's worse after eating.

My lungs feel hot, dry, inflamed and breathing is laboured. @Lightsabre summed it up perfectly in a past by describing it like breathing through cotton wool.

This morning, having showered and then driven for a blood test, I am wiped out and my breathing has become very difficult again. It hasn't been this bad in days and I hope it settles down before the night.

If you are monitoring your temp and Oxygen, then as far as I can gather that's all that can be done. As long as they're okay then it would appear recover is sadly a long and bumpy ride.

UncomfortableBadger · 17/04/2020 13:44

@Crayfishforyou Same here - night sweats, leg cramps and splitting headache in the early hours of this morning; day 22.

It’s so bloody boring isn’t it.

Lightsabre · 17/04/2020 14:20

Hope the blood tests go ok @MillStone - I wonder what the results will show. Commiserations to everyone - for now, just put one foot in front of the other and troop on.

Kitcat122 · 17/04/2020 14:29

@Dorual I felt like this a few days ago felt very depressed and a little worried but woke up the next day feeling great have improved since. Still hoping I don't go downhill again but chest feels the best it's felt for weeks.

MyBeloved · 17/04/2020 14:59

Afternoon all

So sorry some of you are doing the one step forward, two steps back dance. I feel similarly, and it is really frustrating.

Does anyone still feel.like an elephant is standing on their chest?

Day 11ish here, and sending Flowers to you all.

NordSjoen · 17/04/2020 17:59

@Ernieshere you were right. I went back and had a phone convo with a different GP. She thought pleurisy and am on the Naproxen now as hopefully not bacterial... thank you!

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 18:28

Just checking in here, Im on day 27 and after an awful night having a restful day but have stinging in throat and lungs again as day draws on so I suspect im on for a night of coughing and tomorrow breathless.

Just over on the 40+ thread having a spat with a troll 👍🏻 Hope everyone is okay on here. Im sure i’ll be back at 4am x

Ernieshere · 17/04/2020 18:42

NordSjoen Bloodyhell, I hope you are o.k, be careful with the Naproxen, it can cause heartburn. I can't tolerate it, even with the coated ones.

I did think the G.P was thinking too extreme when they said about your rib, they were implying you had broken a bone really, which got me thinking about the stages leading up to it, which straight away led me to Pleurisy due to shoulder pain.

Even the N.HS website says -
"It seems strange, but lying on the side of your chest that hurts may also help reduce the pain"

And you had said -
"have been able to catch full breaths without pain if I have fully supported my right side on pillows"

That is exactly how I was, I have ordered a V shaped pillow from Argos & am still on Antibiotics for Pnuemonia/Pluerisy.
I still have a dull ache inside my chest.

I believe that initially you get Pneumonia first, then Pleurisy. I may be wrong. So, you may have been through both plus Covid.

NICE guidelines state -
Offer an oral antibiotic for treatment of pneumonia in people who can or wish to be treated in the community if:

the likely cause is bacterial.

it is unclear whether the cause is bacterial or viral and symptoms are more concerning.

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng165/chapter/4-Managing-suspected-or-confirmed-pneumonia

I hope you feel better soon lFlowers

Porcupineinwaiting · 17/04/2020 18:48

@MyBeloved I had periodic elephants on days 9, 11 and 13 I recall. Other posters had elephants that just sat and I got lighter, mine (I called him Humphrey) would leave, then reappear and sit getting heavier and heavier til I'd panic and call 111.

Don't let the name fool you. I fucking hated Humphrey.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 19:10

@Porcupineinwaiting lol at “i fucking hated humphrey”

IamEarthymama · 17/04/2020 19:23

Hi I have been dipping in and out, just to reassure myself I am not going crazy!
Day 20 and I feel awful today.
I am really embarrassed about this, I can't say oh yes I have Covid19, as I don't know.
But I feel dreadful after a few good days.

Reading all your accounts helps though, I feel reassured that this may eventually end!
So thanks to you all, I hope everyone is soon well

Bubbinsmakesthree · 17/04/2020 19:43

Been reading the last few pages and it’s comforting to know so many others are in a similar position. I’ve had symptoms for a month now and although for most of that I’ve been pretty functional (under normal times there would have only been 2-3 days I would have felt completely unfit to go to work, though I have been struggling with fatigue) it just drags on and on and on. I seem to be on a continual cycle of “good day, bad day” - I think I’m over it, then next day I am feeling short of breath, fatigued and coughing all over again.

I know I am lucky to have had symptoms at the milder end of the spectrum but I just want this thing gone. I want to feel well enough to start doing some basic exercise again...even just to go for a walk without worrying it’ll wipe me out for the rest of the day. I want to have enough energy to do the juggling needed to do a full time job and look after two young children. I want to get rid of the lingering anxiety. I just want to see the back of it for good.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 20:00

@Bubbinsmakesthree thats it exactly. Having the energy to just conduct yourself in your life. I feel like 111 has reduced me to a breathing organism and that that is enough when actually I need to be able to feed and care for a child. Thats the minimum I need to achieve, not just “you’re breathing”.

MyBeloved · 17/04/2020 21:30

@Porcupineinwaiting
Oh dear, Humphrey sounds just like my elephant. I think I shall make him Alberto. Wish he'd bugger off as I do find him a bit scary.

How yours has gone for good now Flowers

MyBeloved · 17/04/2020 21:31

*hope, not how

SheepSocks · 17/04/2020 21:55

Hi, can I join in?

I had an over your phone diagnosis of COVID-19 from my GP. I spent all day Monday in bed feeling too tired to move, put it down to going overboard for Easter with three toddler. Tuesday I felt great, WFH went shopping for our essentials with a mask and gloves on.

Since Wednesday the bottom of my throat hurts, my chest hurts. I've never had pain in the bottom of my throat, it's well below my tonsils. I'm very tired, and if I'm not sitting/ lying down I feel breathless.

I'm not sure if this is corona as I don't have all symptoms. Plus I've only been going out once a week for shopping wearing a mask and gloves so I'm unsure of how I've caught it!

I am sending well wishes to you all.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 22:53

@SheepSocks well you certainly have a lot of what we all describe. Has anyone else in the house been in and out etc? We haven’t been out at all since march 20th. I caught it off my DD1 on 23rd. My youngest daughter has only really started on Easter Sunday so weeks after we were already in the midsts of it. And my DH (please god) hasnt had it.

MyBeloved · 18/04/2020 00:25

Well, I'm really not happy tonight. Alberto, my chest elephant, is really misbehaving and my heart is racing! I hate this so much- I just want to get better! It is quite scary if I'm honest Sad
