Also, does anyone know when spo2 levels are more relevant? Is it at rest, or when walking? Mine OK at rest but went to 95 when walking

JackJackIncredible · 12/04/2020 22:21

@Dorual

I’m not entirely sure how COVID progresses into ARDS but I do know it’s around 5% of all patients who are critical and they don’t all have ARDS.

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 22:22

My nose tingles/burns a bit. I thought I was having a rhinitis attack when it first started. I'm flushing with salt water regularly as my nose is weirdly very dry?

JackJackIncredible · 12/04/2020 22:24

94% and above is the normal range for oxygen, even when walking.
I was told by an A&E dr that they aren’t admitting COVID patients unless oxygen sats are below 90% but it may vary from place to place. I was below 90% but managed at home, although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this, I should have returned to A&E!

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 22:25

@Dorual I mean this kindly (as someone who suffers with my issues) no answer is going to make you feel better. Even you had a test right now, whether positive or negative you would still worry. Because anxiety isn't rational. But it makes us believe we just need one more reassurance, one more answer.

Anxiety is also a bastard and can take over our lives, especially when we are ill and confined as we are. Be kind to yourself x

FaFoutis · 12/04/2020 22:31

I'm on about day 28 and I still have a cough. I cough a lot, occasionally I have a coughing fit where I can't catch my breath. I almost certainly caught the virus from someone who tested positive, but it was weeks ago.
Has anyone else had the cough for this long?

Dorual · 12/04/2020 22:34

Wow @JackJackIncredible you must be a trooper! Hope you're feeling better now.

@breathlesscommotion. Thanks for your advice. Ironically, I am training to be a counsellor and my main interest is managing anxiety. So I recognise all of what you say. But I think it's an unprecedented time, and for all the mindfulness, STOPP sheets and breathing techniques, sometimes I need a freak out with people experiencing the same.

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 22:38

Absolutely! And it is much easier for me to tell someone else than follow it myself! Just hate to read you worrying so much.

But it is a really worrying time. Lots of extreme examples in media (and Google) no one I know in real life has had it. Worry away on here, certainly wasn't suggesting you shouldn't.

After a very good day my breathing has got worse and my throat is sore and dry :(

Dorual · 12/04/2020 22:55

@breathlesscommotion

I think I have good and bad days. I've found that isolating in my room with no TV or my children to chat to, scrolling fb and Googling has become a negative habit. But now I have lots of book to read for escapism! I started a good book this morning but then my chest pain and breathlessness increased and the physical symptoms were distracting me away from any chance of escapism.

I hope you get a mild version of this. Did anyone in your house have it first?

Dorual · 12/04/2020 22:56

I mean, has anyone had symptoms in your house? I know you said you know of no confirmed cases.

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 23:18

No I'm the first. I'm isolating in a room on my own. Tonight I've suddenly become very cold, breathing is wheezy again and throat is sore. Chest feels tight.

When do you call 111?I know I'm not there yet, but keep thinking about it when my breathing gets worse

Dorual · 12/04/2020 23:29

I rang 111 on day 9 I think. Because I was breathless and had had a fever for 9 days and was concerned. The nurse told me that they were only admitting if you were blue around the mouth of couldn't speak a sentence.

I'd ring if you start feeling breathless when speaking, or nasty chest pain. Or if you are really worried about yourself.

Laying on front is meant to help breathing. Try breathing exercises. Some Gavisvon? I have a humidifier running too. Do you have a pulse oximeter and thermometer to check yourself?

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 23:41

I have a thermometer but it'd not brilliant. When I fished it out last week or so ago we all had a go and mine was reading 34°C. Which I think makes me dead :) it has since had me at 37.

Its because its night and everyone else is asleep I think. That doesn't help.

blueshoes · 12/04/2020 23:42

AuntieO I am roughly on day 13 and my symptoms seem to have plateaued - not getting worse or better but still so tired. I can barely stand for a few minutes without feeling dizzy and wanting to sit back down again. I am impressed you are keen to go back to your HCP work. I am much weaker stuff and cannot bear the thought of working from home in my office job on Tuesday Flowers

Notpanickingjustyet · 13/04/2020 07:55

Day 4 (of whatever it is!) and have been awake most of the night with pain in lung area. Can't make out if it's ribs or what.
I have no cough, felt a bit hotter yesterday but didn't measure temperature. Pain is travelling round my body. I seem to be fine around 4pm then go downhill at night.
So glad it's the morning!
This thread is so helpful and I'm grateful to be able to read everyone else's experience.
I hope people start making a recovery soon Flowers

MillStone · 13/04/2020 08:05

Day 20 since mild symptoms. 16 since hideous.

Remaining symptoms: Moderate upper back ache and breathlessness following minor exertion. Fatigue. Mild sore throat and swollen glands. Sore lungs and an increasing cough with signs of congestion.

Lightsabre · 13/04/2020 08:22

Morning, Day 17 here - feel better than yesterday but still rubbish. Burning upper back pain, fatigue, breathlessness still (when will that ever go away!). Due back at work tomorrow but will have to self Certificate. Can't see an end to this crushing fatigue.

MillStone · 13/04/2020 09:17

@Lightsabre

Morning, it's nice to have someone at the same timeline with similar lingering symptoms! Get well soon Smile

TheDrsWife46 · 13/04/2020 09:18

Morning everyone, im on day 22. Managed to sleep despite developing a persistent cough so have a prescription for antibiotics now. I can feel theres stuff to bring up as it rattles and shifts if i can get a good cough, its just impossible to bring up.

I cannot wait for the day i feel well.

I’ll know im better the day i manage to put the hoover round.

LakeFlyPie · 13/04/2020 09:38

Glad you got some antibiotics DrsWife, hope they kick in quickly.
I had a fever free night and feel bit more human today, am hoping this is my road to recovery without the day 7 dip as both DC and DP are now symptomatic. Kids are still pretty energetic and DS2 who has asthma seems ok. Was dreading DP getting it as he has asthma and always struggles with coughs and colds. Will feel so guilty if he gets really sick ☹️ Is there any point in me wearing a mask / trying to remain socially distanced now we all seem to have it? Not sure about exposure to viral load once you're infected

kevintheorangecarrot · 13/04/2020 09:41

@TheDrsWife46 hopefully antibiotics shift it love. I reckon when I took antibiotics during my breathlessness episode it prevented any secondary infection. I really do! I know that antibiotics cannot cure covid 19 but I wonder if secondary pneumonia is the result of it?

TheDrsWife46 · 13/04/2020 10:40

@LakeFlyPie im ashamed to say that ive been so desperate for care and support that Ive let Dh round me, at one point he showered me after i crawled up the stairs. It was reckless at the time and now i keep fretting that he might get ill and that im still not recovered enough to manage. I TRIED to keep a distance at my worst. We slept in different rooms and i had the downstairs loo just to myself.

TheDrsWife46 · 13/04/2020 10:41

@kevintheorangecarrot i seem to think we’re about the same timescales? Im at 22days.
I know the antibiotics may be futile but its got to the stage at this point where Im going to take anything I can to just counteract any symptoms at all. Utterly fed up.

BreathlessCommotion · 13/04/2020 10:43

I'm in a separate room, but using same bathroom. He's been bringing me food and drinks. He comes in sometimes and sits on the other side of the room. It's impossible for someone to care for you and not overlap. My dc have found it hard, they are 7 and 10.

Dorual · 13/04/2020 10:59

I got dressed today! Was feeling positive after a night of insomnia, muscle twitches and sweats, so tried to get up, shower and clothes on. Exhausted now though. And there's a stabbing pain in my left side about where the bra strap is. Dizzy too. I'm resting now for a bit before I attempt to go downstairs and sit outside. I also managed to drink my Complan shake this morning without wanting to throw it up. Am I turning a corner? Still weak and heart-racey though.

@LakeFlyPie I was sharing a bed with my husband for first 3 days because thought nothing of the headache. But since then he's slept on the sofa and I stay in my room most of the day. I join them at dinner time and for a little bit in the evening. They've all been exposed before I even knew I was ill, I just wanted to cut down any possibility of shared viral load.
