Ambulance just left as chest pains were getting much worse, along with breathlessness. Turns out I have pleurisy and in their opinion I DO have covid-19. I am ok though. Advised to take ibuprofen for the pleurisy as they said no scientific evidence not to, and to rest and drink a lot.

TheDrsWife46 · 12/04/2020 14:49

@mybeloved i’d say they were ample warnings given in the media to avoid ibuprofen whilst we know so little about the virus. Other people here have found co-codamol helps.

Porcupineinwaiting · 12/04/2020 14:54

@Doural with the most severe form of Covid19 people seem to go into a rapid decline in the first week to 10 days. After that, I think it's more a case of avoiding (or at least detecting and treating) secondary infections like pneumonia.

simplekindoflife · 12/04/2020 14:55

Hope you feel better soon @MyBeloved and the rest of you struggling today Thanks

After an awful 2/3 weeks, I'm feeling slightly better today! Still have breathlessness and my chest/ribcage hurts but it feels more rattling today, like it's loosening up, which I thinks a good sign. I'm feeling better in myself too.

Praying I've turned a corner! 🤞

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 14:55

@MyBeloved sorry you are feeling so awful. A friend had pleurisy a few years ago.

kevintheorangecarrot · 12/04/2020 14:58

@MyBeloved hope you feel better soon love xx

Dorual · 12/04/2020 15:00

@Porcupineinwaiting thanks. Phew. So on day 12 I hope I'm out of the worse danger zone, even though low grade fever for 12 days straight.

MyBeloved · 12/04/2020 15:01

Thanks all. TheDrsWife46, I know, and we did discuss it, but they said medics were now advising ibuprofen was ok? Apparently it is best for the pleurisy. Who knows...
BreathlessCommotion, is your friend ok now?
simplekindoflife, I really do hope you have turned a corner Flowers

AuntieO · 12/04/2020 15:14

Hi all, thought I'd join in, I've been lurking a bit Blush
I'm on day 13 of what is probably covid 19. I'm a HCP and was tested on day 2 after symptoms starting. The swab was negative but my GP is disregarding it and says I do have it. Apparently the swabs are only 70% accurate at best, due to technique etc, timings etc
I've had some pretty awful days so far and seem to be settling into a good day/bad day pattern Hmm
Truth be told, I'm totally fed up and just want to get back to work and help my colleagues. I'm meant to be back to work next week and if I'm really honest, I don't think I'll be well enough. I know realistically, that going back too early isn't sensible but it is SO frustrating!!
I had a reasonably good day yesterday and was able to do a bit of washing and helped my son cut his hair. Today is another matter Sad. My temp is spiking again after 3/4 days of fairly normal temps and I feel dizzy and weak again. My pulse is 110+ again at rest and everything hurts, in particular, my ribs.
The cough was worse this morning but is still chesty and now just intermittently annoying.
On the plus side, I don't feel nauseous all the time now and the headache isn't as bad Smile I know it could be so much worse.
I'm so sorry that you're all feeling the effects of this crappy illness and hope you all feel better ASAP.

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 15:16

Yeah my friend is fine. He's a cyclist and back to cycling long distances now. Well not right now, obviously.

Taffyapple8 · 12/04/2020 15:23

@kevintheorangecarrot the covid assessment bit is in the out of hours clinic at the Royal Infirmary. I just went down the out of hours route and the Dr said he'd rather I'd get seen, to reassure if anything. They give you a number to call and then they meet you and take you to the Red zone. All very prompt and they're lovely there x

justasking111 · 12/04/2020 15:24

OH had pleurisy after flu last year it is painful. Phone GP in the morning and get a prescription for your pleurisy, tell them paramedics diagnosed it. OH needed antibiotics.

MyBeloved · 12/04/2020 15:28

Thanks @justasking111 , I will do :)

Porcupineinwaiting · 12/04/2020 15:28

@Doural I would hope so but dont hesitate to call for help if you think you might need it.

kevintheorangecarrot · 12/04/2020 15:30

This is very interesting! I was just about to take a couple more paracetamols and this popped up on my YouTube recommendations. He does daily updates as well on Covid 19.

user34254356 · 12/04/2020 15:51

@elzbells i don't know my pre illness resting heart rate but mine is also raised and in similar range as yours. I am on day 26 and no respite on this unfortunately. A lot of other people are reporting the same.

Elzbells · 12/04/2020 16:11

Ok brilliant, thanks for replying. I think I'll just assume its the virus for now - seems the safest option

AndddddHerewegoagain · 12/04/2020 17:14

My cough has definitely developed today. Getting really fed up with a cough that doesn't achieve anything!! No temperature yet.

I read a few comments about people feeling sick. Is that a symptom? Been feeling sick the last couple of days but put it down to pregnancy!

Toddler has a mild cough no temperature but is super grouchy all the time so presuming something is happening. We had a horrible 2 days with him before he exploded with chicken pox

Dorual · 12/04/2020 18:17

Getting worried as chest is feeling more powdery and sensation of shortness of breath on day 12. Worried about ARDS :(

Does anyone have tips about how to make it comfy sleeping on your front?

BreathlessCommotion · 12/04/2020 18:19

Do you have a reason to worry about ARDS?

I sleep on my front normally. You need a very shallow pillow so as not to strain your neck.

LakeFlyPie · 12/04/2020 18:29

If you can't tolerate full prone position, a modified side lying position where you hug onto a pillow in front is also beneficial. As long as you're tipped more onto your front than back or side.
The proning protocols recommend 30-120 mins in each position (prone, each side forward lying and a supported 30 degree sit if possible)

Rosesofeyam · 12/04/2020 18:49

Day 24
Had a bad day yesterday. Very gunky.
My asthma has been a little better today. Still gunky and my chest hurts.
I'm on the GP list tomorrow, to check how I am.
I managed going upstairs in one go today.Go me.Smile
Flowers to everyone.

Rosesofeyam · 12/04/2020 18:51

Missing not being able to have any Easter egg.Sad

Dorual · 12/04/2020 18:57

@BreathlessCommotion Only because my chest is worsening and I am anxious having stupidly Googled ARDS. I just want to be past this stage. I'm in constant "will I suddenly go downhill?" mode. I think it's really mentally taxing that those with moderate symptoms / pneumonia cannot be checked over.
