@emichel102 Yeah its really awful, have times when its better or worse but does tend to be worse in afternoon and evening and makes it really difficult to sleep. Although am taking sleeping tablets every night at the moment which isn't ideal but let's me have a few hours. Have had the feeling a lot before with ME ..so am guessing its nervous system in overdrive in someway. Am also waking up most mornings soaking wet so having some kind of night sweats, but doubt it's an actual temperature at this stage and then odd times during the day I'm very flushed, which seems to link to worse chest pain and breathlessness.
Hope today is a good day all Xx

stayathomegardener · 10/04/2020 08:50

If anyone would like to be added to the emergency backup WhatsApp could you pm @Casino218 your number as she's very kindly set one up.

Feel rubbish this morning and going to speak to my GP friend later. So fed up now. Officially day 30.

Casino218 · 10/04/2020 08:53

@Thewoolisstrong that's really interesting because about two days ago I mentioned to my DH that the only time I have felt like this is when I got symptoms ( very slight) of altitude sickness in Nepal!

AnythingPecan · 10/04/2020 09:04

@stayathomegardener how do I send a pm on the app plz?

stayathomegardener · 10/04/2020 09:07

I'd also read the altitude sickness information coming mainly from Dr’s in New York who suggested that the lung issues are a side effect of that.

Didn't fully understand it, the research paper I read was quite detailed.

In fact I ended up being confused if adding iron was a good thing in this situation.

standrewsschool last day of antibiotics for me here too - last dose this morning. I had a sudden panic when I realised there were two bank holidays over the weekend as 111 were pretty rubbish when I called and only my own GP was sympathetic. I guess we just have to go with it and try not to let anxiety make it worse. Easy to say, hard to do.

Standrewsschool · 10/04/2020 09:30

@musicposy - we can do this, virtual social distancing hand-holding

longshot · 10/04/2020 09:32

@isitorisntit my chest feels exactly how you have described. Slightly breathless but not too bad but so battered and bruised. I’ve taken my paracetamol now (still on 8 a day) and it has improved. I’m pottering around now and not feeling dreadful which is an improvement.

Littleninja1 · 10/04/2020 09:33

Morning all Brew @pinkoneblueone sorry your DH is unwell too. When I've had medics take my oxygen they put the oximeter on the index finger so I'd assume that's the reading to go with.

I completely sympathise with the anxiety and panic. The way I worked out what was going on at my worst was that I get a distinct rush of adrenaline when I'm panicking. Do you get that? Do you have coping strategies already for anxiety that could help now?

It's common for panic attacks to strike at moments of relaxation, for some reason, including waking you from sleep. Personally, I find being really firm but calm in talking to myself helps "this is a panic attack. It can't hurt me and it will pass". That kind of thing.

Let's hope we all have a better day today ladies x

Kitcat122 · 10/04/2020 09:34

Day 27
Morning Ladies and gents!

I think I am on the mend. Feel fine for all of this week but still have the sore lungs/breast bone and still breathless when I climb stairs or do too much housework. It's still 2 steps forward one step back. I find it very hard as usually I am an exercise freak but haven't been able to hardly hoover the house for 4 weeks. Went for a walk with the kids last weekend and lungs and breathing were horrendous for 3 days afterwards. So really worried to even go for a walk.

isitorisntit · 10/04/2020 09:35

I know we shouldn't use Dr Google... This might explain my chest/breastbone pain: www.webmd.com/pain-management/costochondritis

longshot · 10/04/2020 09:45

@isitorisntit I was convinced I had costochondritis but my GP friend said although possible it is more likely inflammation of the lung pleura as it's all over / moved around. It is interesting as all those days ago when I went in to hospital and had an Xray and bloods the Dr also said i had that 'probably' which i think maybe means it doesn't show on an x ray but does in bloods? Who knows. I have also had costochondritis before and it was much more localised in ribs near to sternum. However I definitely think it is possible we have both!

@pinkoneblueone how are you doing this morning? Have just re read all the posts from last night and am worried for your DH / you.

The panic / adrenaline feeling is awful, i have it frequently in the day and usually once or twice in the night. I am blessed to be a heavy sleeper so usually can go back off but i sympathise as it is horrid.

SoooTiredToday · 10/04/2020 09:49

Hi! Came on mumsnet to start a thread on this very thing yesterday! But @pinkoneblueone has kindly redirected me here!

I had cv symptoms a few weeks ago - fever, chills, cough and also sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches, nausea, heart burn, lack of taste and smell. Was off work for 10 days then returned feeling a lot better - but not fine.

After the first week back at work, I slept all weekend and had headache all weekend. Same happened last weekend (second weekend after being back at work) and cough has lingered since the start. Yesterday and now today (start of third weekend after being back at work - so now 3 weeks post 'recovery') and cough is worsening and flipping runny nose and lack of taste returning.

So so fed up! Just want to feel well!! I'm never ill in spring!!

isitorisntit · 10/04/2020 09:50

www.rehabmypatient.com/thoracic-spine/costochondritis

Can be caused by respiratory viruses.

isitorisntit · 10/04/2020 09:53

@longshot it says ibuprofen to treat... But scared to take in now 🙄

TheWooisStrong · 10/04/2020 10:00

Weirdest thing - I drank loads of turmeric tea at the peak of illness. Thought it tasted ok, vaguely sweet.

Tried it today, I can actually smell/taste it properly and my god it’s rank.

user34254356 · 10/04/2020 10:05

@pinkoneblueone hope your DH is feeling better this morning. Can't blv 30 days on many of us are still in panic and anxiety mode

@kitcat122 that is exactly how i feel on Day 24. Two steps forward and one step back, sometimes even two steps back. Today I have started off well with better energy levels and even managed to do some light vacuuming in one room, but i was able to do this 4 days ago after which i couldn't move from the bed. I just do the stairs once or twice in the day, as i am so scared of getting breathless.

@SoooTiredToday welcome to the club that no one wants to join. Did you speak to your GP about worsening cough? Maybe you need a dose of antibiotics for any secondary infection?

Casino218 · 10/04/2020 10:12

Interesting to get the docs opinion on costochondritis @longshot as I've continued with this I have slowly come to the mind set that it is pleurisy as the pains seems all over not just where the cartilage is but who knows!

mumlurker · 10/04/2020 10:20

Morning everyone, hoping a good or even bearable day is ahead of us all.

Can I ask, what sort of chest pains are people experiencing? At first I mainly felt the burning sensation/constriction but have developed weird intermittent stabbing pains and aches which seem to move around.

Just entering week five here and bracing myself!

longshot · 10/04/2020 10:23

@isitorisntit I haven’t taken ibuprofen, actually I took one when I had bad period pain last week but I then panicked I wasn’t going to be able to breathe! GP has advised me still to take paracetamol and codeine only (haven’t taken that) but also said ibuprofen gel stuff is ok. I used that a few times when my ribs were really sore. My pain is more in my side ribs and back now and annoying but if I rest manageable.

Someone mentioned gardens. I am so lucky, live semi rurally, big garden that backs on to fields and I am so very grateful for this now. To anyone that doesn’t have outdoor space on here I really feel for you. I am constantly feeling thankful for it as I know so many people are not in this situation! We lived 10 years In London with no garden and I can’t imagine how hard this would all be with the children there.

DandyPeguin · 10/04/2020 10:23

Morning! Day 23 here.

@TheWooisStrong you reminded me of something I was going to ask you lot - has anyone else found themselves hypersensitive to salt during this? Things have been tasting far too salty.

And on the subject of food, I’ve mentioned this before but not sure anyone replied - please tell me I’m not the only one who’s been absolutely RAVENOUS throughout this?!

Spacecadetagain · 10/04/2020 10:26

Morning everyone. Day 28 . @longshot interesting what you say about the iron because I’ve been anaemic on and off for a few years now and just before covidgate GP put me on different iron tablets . I haven’t taken them while I’ve been ill as too busy focusing on getting better. As it happens they interact with the antibiotics I’m on so I’ll finish those and start the iron again . I’m also on a factor 1a inhibitor called Rivaroxaban which is because I developed a blood clot in my leg over Christmas . It’s a new type of anti coagulant and tbh that alone has caused some odd things to go on in my body ! I was due to come off them about now but the DVT clinic left me on them just in case I got this virus as they said I’d be at risk of developing another clot otherwise if I was inactive . I’m so glad they did !
@pinkoneblueone how are you and your DH this morning ?
I’m feeling really stuffy today . As thought I was chain smoking last night . It’s nearly 14 days since I stopped and I’m wondering if some iv it is the stopping smoking . Coughed a bit of phlegm up this morning but tbh it was all clear .

Joeaj23 · 10/04/2020 10:32

@pinkoneblueone @longshot
I am having the same night time issues with waking up in a panic, heart is racing. Has been going on for over a week. Takes me a few seconds to calm down and oxygen levels are usually okay.
Makes it hard to sleep but eventually I just pass out until the morning.

Day 31 and other than the night issues I’m generally a lot better. Can go outside for walks etc

FYI waking up with a headache has been common for me and is a sign that you haven’t been getting quite enough oxygen while sleeping (nothing to worry about though)

Casino218 · 10/04/2020 10:55

@Joeaj23 yes interesting point about the lack of oxygen and headaches. So tired of feeling like I've been out on the razz every night when I haven't.

TheDrsWife46 · 10/04/2020 11:06

Morning all. I darent even hope but yesterday was my best day yet. I just rested, still cant manage anything like cleaning etc but no unpleasant symptoms. I went to bed early and took kalms but I was then awake from 2am. Today i watched some tv in bed, first time ive been really able to focus on anything rather than sensations/pains in my body.

Im trying to follow everyones advice in not getting too cocky and pushing myself too much. Its the weakness and lethargy thats hard to deal with now but thats not pain and so im grateful.

@DandyPeguin ive had no appetite and no real taste through this. I can sense sweet but without flavour, like chocolate or a cup of tea registers the same just “sweet” rather than any background flavours. Savoury and salt I can barely taste and its really frustrating as I reckon I could hunker down and get through it more if I could just enjoy some nice meals.

Wishing everyone here a very very restful Good Friday. Xx
