No way is this a precautionary measure.

You don't get taken into intensive care "just in case".

And stats are about 50/50 with regards to survival.

lannister · 06/04/2020 20:36

@Applejaxx they do if they are VIP/royalty

Notredamn · 06/04/2020 20:36

Should he require ventilation it will be on hand for him

How stupid do they think we are?
He's clearly in a bad way. I wish him well.

GoldenOmber · 06/04/2020 20:36

Can believe he doesn’t need a ventilator at the moment, but it’s hard to believe he’d have been moved to intensive care unless his condition required intensive care right now.

CustardySergeant · 06/04/2020 20:38

I thought he was on the mend because in the last message he sent that was shown on TV he wasn't coughing at any time and was able to speak without being breathless. Obviously one of those who get worse just when it seems they are recovering. It's such a terrifying disease isn't it?

Alsohuman · 06/04/2020 20:38

they do if they are VIP/royalty

No they don’t. Let’s hope he doesn’t need ventilation, it’s not going well for cv patients.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/04/2020 20:39

I think the just in case would be more believable if they hadn’t been playing it down for a while. It’s difficult to believe anything they say about it now.

Really hope they are telling the truth this time.

Sux2buthen · 06/04/2020 20:39

What a shit state of affairs. Life is so surreal now.
Hoping for the best for all affected by all of this

Rhea1981 · 06/04/2020 20:40

I'm actually gutted hearing this. I really like boris johnson and this is just horrible. People making nasty comments about him make me sick.

Alsohuman · 06/04/2020 20:41

He appals me but losing him is the last thing we need right now.

Dances · 06/04/2020 20:41

It's not going to be good if he dies.

It will be an out of control situation.

MigginsMrs · 06/04/2020 20:42

Horrific. Truly, truly horrific for him, his family and the country. I’m praying for him to pull through.

kingofkings · 06/04/2020 20:43

He'll have an arterial line to draw off blood gases every hour , inotropic support for circulation and if he tires or fails to maintain blood gases he'll be ventilated. He's probably on CPAP now.

Kitchendoctor · 06/04/2020 20:43

It doesn’t matter whether you like him or not, whether you’re a Tory or not. We need our PM. In fact, I’d say there’s never been a time in our lives when we’ve needed our PM more than we do right now.

Come on Boris, you can get through this.

LuluJakey1 · 06/04/2020 20:52

Carrie Symonds and his ex-wife and children must all be worried sick- and his parents and brothers and sister
He must need an intensive care bed or they would not have moved him there. They don't have intensive care beds spare just incase, not now. Number 10 are still downplaying this.

TiddyTid · 06/04/2020 20:54

Please get better Boris

kingofkings · 06/04/2020 20:55

Intensive care gives higher level of monitoring. As well as respiratory and circulatory support

howwillthispanout · 06/04/2020 20:56

Just leaving this here: “the mawkish sentimentality of a society that has become hooked on grief and likes to wallow in a sense of vicarious victimhood".

ChristmasCarcass · 06/04/2020 20:57

Whether he lives or dies, he is going to be out of action for months now. People are spending AGES in ICU with Covid, far longer than we usually see with viral pneumonia.

I reckon that’s it for him as PM, I really do. He won’t be able to prise his successor out of No10 after they’ve spent six months in the job, will he?

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 20:58

howwillthispanout

How is that relevant?

MmmNutella · 06/04/2020 20:58

Awful news. Hope he recovers.

Does anyone know if there are stats on what the survival rate is for people who go into ICU with corona?

GreyGardens88 · 06/04/2020 20:59

Half the country will need treating for post traumatic stress in the coming years

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 06/04/2020 21:00

Just leaving this here: “the mawkish sentimentality of a society that has become hooked on grief and likes to wallow in a sense of vicarious victimhood".

Oh bore off, it's really not the time.

kingofkings · 06/04/2020 21:00

Going into ITU is reasonably alright but being put on a full on ventilator is poor prognosis

JellyFishSquish · 06/04/2020 21:00

howwillthispanout I get how you are thinking, despite everything
