Third option Polly.

Boris is really ill and has has handed over control but they’re not saying because it’s going to be bad for the morale of the country.

Polly02 · 06/04/2020 19:52

Why on earth should I be paranoid?

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2020 19:53

I really doubt it’s a plan to get us to behave, I doubt it would even work since they say he’s in good spirits and still working.

howwillthispanout · 06/04/2020 19:55

Narcissistic mortification is what’s going on here - as per usual it’s all about Boris

esjee · 06/04/2020 19:57

@Polly02 you tell me! You're the one thinking its all a big lie and he's not really ill because they want you to 'behave' lol

Polly02 · 06/04/2020 19:58

Ok - so it's probably not a plan to get us to behave.

It must be narcissism then. It's just so odd.

PicturesOfCats · 06/04/2020 19:59

Boris could die with this, and you’d still have people claiming it was a lie, or a sympathy vote, or blah blah bullshit the Tories are evil blah blah blah

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2020 20:01

I don’t think it’s narcissism either! Not sure how people are getting there?

He’s needing extra support in hospital, no one other than his medical team know much more

titchy · 06/04/2020 20:01

^ This. The optics on BJ being so ill he can't be in charge are pretty devastating so that will be avoided at all costs. But as it's already been announced that Dom would be in charge no-one is surprised when he chairs meetings etc (wonder which Dom though...)

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2020 20:01

Polly why do you say narcissism?

Do you think he feels he’s lacking attention

Polly02 · 06/04/2020 20:06

Maybe that's not the right word. howwillthispanout used it.

Maybe he/she thought Boris felt he was lacking attention.

I'm not sure and haven't put a lot of thought into it. But it feels very unnerving being in such a huge crisis, being lead by a man who is very unwell and should be recuperating.

He hasn't been around for a while now and it feels like we're freewheeling/winging it.

Any responsible leader would hand over the reins for a while.

I can't think why this is happening. That's why I say it's very odd.

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2020 20:07

HowWill what do you mean? Why do you say that?

Because he won’t stop working or other

howwillthispanout · 06/04/2020 20:11

Because according to Freud et al it’s a classic symptom of narcissism and genuine feeling of embarrassment to admit fallible - coupled with his upbringing and belief in own destiny then I think this is underpinning his ability to relinquish control or admit poorly. If he does it will be on his own terms and will no doubt be Nelson-esque in that it will centre him as a tragic hero.

I have a feeling he is pretty ill but they will want to avoid spooking the markets and the economy with news of further turmoil. So we will have the full 'nothing to see here' act for as long as possible in the hope he rises it out. Although the idea of Raab in charge is enough to spook anyone. Has anyone heard anything about the other Dom (Cummings) didn't he also have symptoms shortly after Boris?

4forkssake · 06/04/2020 20:13
