@pinkoneblueone can you articulate whats panicking you. I dont know if you read my posts where at one point I called the samaritans. Im not advocating that we all call them now, but im my moment of desperation they were amazing but got me to rationalise through it.

What are you frightened of?

Day 25 and finally, think that nasty fever has broken. Just got a low grade one of around 37.6ish which is much better.
Coughing up a lot of brown gunk and some blood - pretty sure it’s the secondary pneumonia. :(
Vomiting at night from coughing.
Am prone to pneumonia so coughing till I am sick and bringing up dark green-brown gunk is normal for me.
Muscle pains have eased up and I have some more energy and my appetite back.
Hopeful I’m on the upward swing :)

What is specifically worrying you? Can we help at all? x

@EMichel102 Sorry to hear you’re still poorly too. Yesterday was the first day I’d taken paracetamol regularly to see what I would be like if I didn’t let the temperature go too high. I felt ok in myself - apart from the cough - and I managed to go downstairs (first time in 3 weeks!) and have a walk round. I’m a bit ‘fever phobic’ which doesn’t help. This whole thing has been surrounded by anxiety and fear of the unknown for so many of us. Hoping you’ll have improvement to report soon.

@pinkoneblueone you could try the anti anxiety guided mediation things on YouTube, some of them seem to help.

@sambucus it’s funny you’re afraid of the fever and I’m afraid of my breathlessness vertigo and heart rate (we each have our own panics from this weird virus!) on the same 21st day of progression. I keep having to push things back with working from home as I think “I just need a few more days” which turn into another week and so forth. I think work are beginning to wonder if there’s an end as well and don’t really understand! I really hope this time next week we’re all feeling much more normal.

The doctor basically told me I’m not out of the woods with this yet and may end up in hospital with it because of my asthma. I haven’t slept at all and am struggling to relax enough to sleep. I have tried the muscle relaxation videos and it has eased a little but not fully. Every time I fall off to sleep I wake a few moments later tense with Avery dry mouth. I keep drinking then need the look then try to sleep and repeat the cycle. I am so so frustrated by it all.

Hello @user34254356. Your symptoms sound like mine. I still have the eye thing when I wake up too. It started in the first week. I really don’t know about ibuprofen. I am sticking to paracetamol until someone tells me otherwise. I also have a definite fever at times (not constant). Goes up to around 37.8 at least once a day. The rest of the time it hovers around 37.3, which although warm for me, isn’t a fever. Oh dear, I sound obsessive! As far as other symptoms go, there’s the hacking cough and the general weakness and I’m certainly not doing much. Here’s hoping we will both be improving soon!

@pinkoneblueone
Wow your gp has some bedside manner Hmm

Being scared is a perfectly normal and rational response to this, you are not alone there.

You could end up in hospital but so far you haven't and each day that goes by it becomes a little less likely. And if you do get to the point of needing hospital treatment, then a hospital will be the best place for you. A hospital is just another means to an end (ie you recovering). In normal times most of us would have been in hospital with this at some point.

It's good you are getting antibiotics, they may help.

Dont worry about the lack of sleep just rest and drink. I have had huge battles with insomnia before and jumping awake in a panic just as falling asleep is my normal. A wise doctor once told me that the body will eventually take the sleep it needs. If sleeping during the day is less frightening to you try and sleep then. I find reading until my eyes literally wont stay open is the best way for me, any sort of sound keeps me awake. But if you cant sleep now, you will sleep later.

Just take it one day at a time.

Thank you so much for your kind words they have been very reassuring. From being part of this thread I thought that I was less likely to go in to hospital but the doctor couldn’t say.

It really has unsettled me so much. My chest feels tight and sore again today. But the anxiety will not be helping.

Do you have a pulse oximeter? Or a peak flow meter? Or have you tried the Roth test?

This virus is good at making you feel you cant breath properly when in fact you are breathing properly. I've found a combination of the above help me reassure myself. I also find steam really useful- our hot water bill must have gone through the roof.

Thanks to everybody who suggested sleeping sat upright for comfort - tried this last night alongside two co-codamol and I slept through from 11pm to 7am. First decent bit of sleep I’ve had in nearly a fortnight.

Day 11 here and feeling much better for sleep (although still have chest pains and exhaustion) but fully aware that this virus recovery isn’t linear. Fully expect to have a bad day tomorrow...

My breathing is much worse today. I spoke to the doctor this morning and I have an appointment at the Covid clinic this afternoon. Starting to get worried. I have packed a bag.

I have been checking our oxometer a friend lent me hers and ours has just arrived this morning. It usually reassured me but the doctor has rattled me somewhat. I am not sure that the Roth method is but my chest hurts a lot atm so can’t breathe too deeply. The panic attacks will have me sore and weak for a few days.

Had a video call with GP, thinks I have just have had virus really badly and maybe have a secondary infection which is why I am struggling to recover but I'm going to get some bloods done in case theres something else going on given it's well over a month now. He was happy with my sats despite me still being breathless and that part of things is definitely improving, have just deteriorated in other ways so we shall see.

Normal range for oximeter is 94-99 and it's quite usual for it to fluctuate across this range. So that's reassuring.

Thanks for starting a new thread!

Trying to look back at my symptoms, I think I'm on day 9 but it could actually be longer... I've lost all track of time.

Having a bad day today. After a relatively good night's sleep, I've woken up with really bad chest pain and breathlessness again. Panicked call to the doctor this morning and he's prescribed me antibiotics and an inhaler. Really hoping it helps.

My anxiety is through the roof today. Scared of going into hospital, scared of my DH and the DC getting it... I wish I could press fast forward through this time. I'm missing having cuddles with my DC Sad

@findingschools4myboys I looked online for that test at SureScreen but it says it's available to businesses only.

Thanks @Porcupineinwaiting! This has resonated so much with me. I'm in charge of my breathing, and I've just proved it with the breathing exercises. Keeping calm seems to be a factor too so I've going to try to focus on practical thoughts rather than panicking.

Hi all, just checking in. Was briefly on last thread (or maybe two threads ago?) after having burning eyes a week ago.

I've been monitoring my symptoms since then, but really they haven't come to much.
I've certainly had more headaches than normal, but as I'm WFH and not out as much, that could account for that.
Temp (in my ear) has been in and around 37.5 or 37.6 at its highest. Orally, my temp hasn't got higher than 37.1 or 37.2.
No cough to note, but maybe a few more aches and pains - again though, I'm not out as much.
I do have a bit of diarrhoea today. Still an occasional bout of the burning eyes.

Hope everyone is minding themselves and keeping as well as they can Thanks
