MY DS is now on day 8 or 9, he became ill last Tuesday, his temp has been fine today for the first time but he did sick up some mucosy stuff this morning. He has been isolated in his room, i am really confused as to how long he is infectious for?

Tangledyarn · 08/04/2020 17:35

Am taking my afternoon/ evening dip mow..seems the same every day, despite being in bed all afternoon my throats really sore, feel really virally with the internal shaking, breathing worse and chest more painful again. So frustrating!

BlackNoir · 08/04/2020 17:43

@SchrodingersKitty

5 stories?! Do you live in a windmill?

Hope you and your DH feel better soon.

BlackNoir · 08/04/2020 17:45

Shit! Sorry, I should have RFTF. Please forgive my insensitivity.

simplekindoflife · 08/04/2020 17:48

@Tangledyarn I was just coming in here to say the same! After a fairly good day, I've nosedived. Sad chest pains worse, back tingling, breathless. My anxiety is up too. Never had anxiety before, it's so horrible.

Littleninja1 · 08/04/2020 17:57

I want to say something supportive to all those going through this. I can't remember all the user names but some people sound vulnerable or caring for family who are vulnerable and my heart goes out to you. I really recommend contacting your GP (if you can get through to them. Mine have been so helpful) or 111. As much as we can reassure on here and share our experiences you can only know for sure if you are seen. Flowers

Had my video call with GP and oximeter. He had me walk about the room for 40 steps and check my oxygen and heart rate. My oxygen was up and down between 96 - 99% and heart rate was around 90 on gentle walking and 60 on resting. He was really pleased with these. I mentioned that it's the evenings I'm worried about as it's much worse then but he said it's all part of a trend so if I was struggling for oxygen at night then I'd also be during the day, or something like that. So I am glad I'm doing well but still frustrating that I feel this way despite having healthy stats!

simplekindoflife · 08/04/2020 17:58

Just sneaked upstairs away from the kids for a cry. All feels a bit hopeless this evening. Sad

longshot · 08/04/2020 18:00

@TheDrsWife46 I am glad you are having a better day!! I have enjoyed reading your update there Smile

Can I ask does if anyone can talk me down from feeling I’ve developed pneumonia and going into a panic. I’ve just been for a stroll with my family, I felt too tired and had to turn back after 10 mins. I’ve stupidly scared myself reading up on heartburn and then pneumonia and fluid on the lungs and I am sat panicking now. I have bad pain still on my left side all the time, in my back between my shoulder blade too. My breathing isn’t too bad, it’s not great but i don’t feel concerned by it. I’m worried by the heavy feeling and the utter exhaustion (maybe due to antibiotics). I feel like the pain should be subsiding with paracetamol and rest (it’s not) I went for a stroll to see it that might loosen me but just felt too tired. I’m suddenly really scared again after so many reasonably good days.

longshot · 08/04/2020 18:01

Also I am coughing more, not massively but a bit and there’s definitely more sputum but it’s pretty clear, a bit yellow but no blood. I have noticed a tiny bit of blood in my snot the last week or two. Not sure if that’s really relevant. I hate this fear of serious illness.

Tangledyarn · 08/04/2020 18:03

@simplekindoflife Its such hard work isn't it? This morning I was thinking maybe I could start trying to do a bit of work from home next week, this afternoon that just feels impossible again.

longshot · 08/04/2020 18:03

@simplekindoflife thinking of you. That’s how I am today. I’m angry at myself for not being well. My DH is clearly bored of my being ill now too, I don’t blame him but what can I do!

KatySun · 08/04/2020 18:04

Hello longshot I am on day 18 so not as far along as you. Started antibiotics today. My pain is in the middle of my chest and I have bad back pain when I try to do very much. I think if it were pneumonia I would have developed a high temperature as well?
This virus seems to me to go in ups and downs. I felt better yesterday but today has been awful with lots of times needing to lie on my front.

Meercatmama · 08/04/2020 18:09

user34254356 thank you for your kind words He has high blood pressure 33% kidney function psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis I am telling myself that he is in the right place and that the paramedics were not hurried to get him to hospital They spent quite a lot of time here looking at the ECG and redoing it and checking the high blood pressure. he also walked out to the ambulance and was a better colour than he had been all day. Just waiting to hear some news This is very hard but I fully understand why I could not go with him

WorriesomeDad · 08/04/2020 18:14

Hey @TheDrsWife46 been following your posts and it really is great to hear you’re starting to feel better.

JackJackIncredible · 08/04/2020 18:21

@longshot

How’s your temperature? A high temp (38C plus) would be a sign of pneumonia plus a lot of breathlessness and weakness.
You often rattle with pneumonia, sounds deep from the chest and can be heard by others sometimes.
Even if it is pneumonia, it’s not always serious and can be managed at home. Try not to panic. I’m not saying ignore it but don’t panic either Flowers

Tangledyarn · 08/04/2020 18:30

@longshot I've wondered about pneumonia as well as I'm the same after so long. My understanding is that if its viral then the treatment is just time and rest unless you need oxygen unfortunately so probably wouldn't be a change from what we are doing now.Flowers

Mummadeeze · 08/04/2020 18:41

Getting towards the end of Day 5 and whilst my body, chest and throat pains have subsided I am now very shaky and dizzy and my sinuses hurt. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Bornlazy · 08/04/2020 18:45

@longshot try and keep hold of the positives. You managed a walk and if you turned back after 10 mins that’s still a 20 minute walk (assuming you had to walk back the same distance.) That’s really good. I know that if you’re normally very fit it might not seem much but you’ve been in bed for a while it’ll take time to get your strength back. I think the pains are unfortunately going to keep coming and going for a while. I don’t know why - I don’t know if anyone does. I suppose our lungs are still inflamed and not fully recovered yet.

To those of you with heartburn are you taking Vitamin C effervescent as that can increase stomach acidity and sometimes make it worse. I think you can get tablets that don’t do this.

TheDrsWife46 · 08/04/2020 18:50

Thanks for the good wishes, I dont want to count my chickens before they’ve hatched as yesterday night time was my worst in days.

@Meercatmama please keep us posted on DH, im glad both you and he are calm about him going in.

@longshot I think maybe you need a call to the GP
to just see if there is a way to reassure you after this length of time. The only thing I can say is that after I had embolisms I had pleuritic pain for months and months and months after my blood results were normal. Doctors told me that the areas of my lungs had been “starved” and it caused the irritation/pleuritic pains. Once I was reassured that it was the recovery rather than the damage I stopped being scared. But you’ve has this for almost a month so I genuinely think you’d be justified to phone a GP to ask is there any way of someone listening etc. My GP i swear is probably sick of me but he did say “ we do have provision to see you if you need to be seen, we’re just trying to minimise those appointments”. In your shoes, i’d be calling again.

Day 8ish. I have had some periods of feeling normal today. I'm on my third day without a temperature. Yesterday was an average of 98.8 and today 98.1.
I'm so white I think I'm going to glow in the dark but I'm no longer grey so I suppose it's a plus.
I've been very dizzy today, but no coughing or chest pains. All I have done is sat on the sofa doing a tapestry kit. I also stayed in bed until 10.
I can't sleep, I'm not sure if it's the lack of exercise, I'm usually very active, or the adrenaline surges I seem to be getting.
I'm not so ill I'm lying in bed not caring but I'm not well enough to do anything either.
I want to water my garden and wash my car.
No chance.
I'm also terrified of falling back down the rabbit hole. My dsis has had a dip, we were all scared she'd developed pneumonia but it was just a dip. She's rallied a little now. She's about a week ahead of me and has been much worse.
I don't want to get worse.

longshot · 08/04/2020 19:00

Thank you all. I can hear a bit of a weird sort of clicking noise when I breathe deeply. Have only noticed this since yesterday but I thought it might be muscular.

Thanks for the tip on a fever, I don’t have that although I am taking constant paracetamol!

I am worried mostly about the pain and heaviness but positives are I can breathe and I am taking the antibiotics so I guess if it’s turned bacterial that’s covered and if it’s viral nothing can be done anyway unless I need oxygen.

I think I’m just gutted I still feel ill but maybe I’ll pick up soon with the amoxicillin.

TheDrsWife46 · 08/04/2020 19:01

@Crayfishforyou I found days 6-8 the worst and you sound so calm. Hoping you carry on on this path. So positive that you can sit calmly crafting and managing it well. Xx

@Bornlazy yes I am taking the effervescent tablets once a day - good point - I’ll stop. Heartburn has been especially bad today even though I’m taking Nexium and use the gaviscon tablets. Worst symptom by far for me today in my upper back / chest! Here’s to hoping tomorrow is a bit better for us all!

@longshot I feel your post 5 pm slump here too. It really does like to kick things up a notch then doesn’t it?

frugalkitty · 08/04/2020 19:09

I've been following these threads and would just like to say how helpful they've been in helping me 'prepare' in case any of us come down with the virus. The videos have been very useful and I've got an oximeter here now (DS2 and I have asthma), and all your snippets of advice along with the experiences you've shared have given me hope that if we do get it, we won't be panicking about dying but understand the range of symptoms and know it could be weeks of slow recovery. So, please know that however poorly you've been, someone here really appreciates the info shared on these threads, and I'd like to send very un-mumsnetty hugs and love to you all (and also say to Dr's Wife....your friends do not deserve you Flowers)

Demenace · 08/04/2020 19:20

Reading all these accounts with interest. I’m on day 10 now. Had fever and felt terrible for first few days, aches, headaches etc little bit of coughing... yesterday and today my temperature has spiked again - just under 38.
Have checked oxygen levels, all ok and don’t feel breathless, no pain.
Haven’t sought medical help as I’ve been reassured by the oxygen levels and don’t feel any worse.
Has anyone else had a low grade fever that has come and gone in week 2?
Thanks
