*before no idea where hector came from

Standrewsschool · 08/04/2020 16:13

oximeter

I got this oximeter has it had good reviews at Argos. I actually ordered it directly from the company as Argos was unable to deliver, and it wasn’t available locally. However, currently out of stock from the company.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 08/04/2020 16:13

onlinelinda I'm not too bad physically (for me).

I have what I'd describe as mild lung pain, some fatigue, & I'm coughing up grot (sorry), hence the ABs.

The main thing atm is the fear that in fact I'm only on Day 3 (if you count from when the lung pain started), & therefore the peak danger-point is yet to come.

It is rubbish with lung disease too. Have you been advised to use a nebuliser?

Standrewsschool · 08/04/2020 16:15

That’s unavailable directly from the company, haven’t checked Argos - obviously may vary depending on where you live.

user34254356 · 08/04/2020 16:24

@ofwarren glad to know you feel mostly recovered. Interesting that you think the breathlessness eases with gaviscon. Maybe i should get it too - do you know why that is helping with breathlessness? Do you get breathless with activity?

@tangledyarn @Longshot sorry that you are still having waves of symptoms. @Longshot at least it's not breathlessness which worries me a lot.
@tangledyarn it is slightly reassuring that you have had bouts of breathlessness as i was beginning to feel like an outlier.

AutumnNymph · 08/04/2020 16:32

How’s everyone doing today ? Day 5 here and my cough feels better but am so exhausted and have a headache as well. Sore throat persists and have zero appetite for anything [which is so not me]

I am been sweating like mad at night as well and wake up an utter stink bag but atleast am getting some sleep.

Hang in there everyone!

ofwarren · 08/04/2020 16:36

@user34254356 I don't seem to get breathless with activity. I've got absolutely no energy at all though. I feel very very weak.
The breathlessness seemed random. I'm popping gaviscon like sweets now and it's a lot better. I still have the burning in my back but I think even that is acid reflux as it eases when I burp.
I get out of breath talking though to be honest.

ofwarren · 08/04/2020 16:38

Also, bad acid reflux can cause breathlessness, especially at night. Something to do with the vagus nerve I think.

SchrodingersKitty · 08/04/2020 16:39

While my DH has been at the hospital having a lumbar puncture and getting steroids (for what they are now pretty sure is secondary lymphoma in his brain - for those who have missed the saga) I've spent the day bleaching and cleaning as much of the house as I can, putting bedding in the garden for the sun to kill germs, and so on. I'm now exhausted and coughing with a tight chest. This may well be asthmatic and because of the bleach. I often get similar symptoms when I clean (which is why we usually have a cleaner). The fact that we have five storeys doesn't help. I really thought I was over it so now pretty worried about infecting DH, but there's nowhere else either of us could go. I am on day 29 and haven't had significant symptoms for a few days so I was really hopeful I was not infectious as least. he's been exposed for the last few weeks in any case.

onlinelinda · 08/04/2020 16:44

@milesjuppismybitch no, although I have not needed it, despite significant chest tightening in the second week. I did have antibiotics in week 1 as my doctor initially thought I might have an infection. I do suspect my meds and inhalers may act to protect and support my lungs. Obviously I also have a rescue pack with oral steroids if required, although I definitely hope not to.

SchrodingersKitty · 08/04/2020 16:46

He just came back. Is very down. He seems to have had a conversation rather in passing with a doctor in which he said 'it's not good news, is it?' and she agreed that it wasn't and he has interpreted that as them saying 'it is definitely fatal'. That really isn't what they've been saying up to now - they've been talking of the chances of chemo achieving a cure at between 33% and 50%. So I hope they are able to offer some hope. It might depend on whether he's got covid-19 antibodies I suppose as to whether they will go ahead with chemo or not.

TheDrsWife46 · 08/04/2020 16:47

@SchrodingersKitty
I would have done the same to be honest, the moment i feel well enough I’ll be bleaching my house to death. I think you’re going to maybe just consider that you’ve had it and try to focus on his other health needs. Theres a lot of studies that show viral shed many days later but I think the fact that so so so many people reportedly get negative throat results after so many days must give you some assurance that you’re unlikely to be contagious and that he was with you when you were. Wishing him (and you) all my best wishes for his results today and the best path to a recovery for you both. Xx

Oh god sorry my cross message might seem crass now. Sad

OP posts:
onlinelinda · 08/04/2020 16:49

ShrodingerKitty, you may have overdone it. Really do try to avoid actual bleach, as it's bad for the lungs (research proven). You can use Milton, of which there are vast supplies, Milton told me. That does not have the sane ingredient which causes health damage, but does do the sterilising job, and actually also whitens clothing.

I'm really sorry to hear that your DH may have a secondary lymphoma. That's really hard for you both. Can you access any help, in your circumstances?

Meercatmama · 08/04/2020 16:54

Thank you all for your kind words. they taken him to hospital because his blood pressure is very high and when his chest tightened the ECG showed something once on a printout. The paramedics were brilliant and were with us for quite some time and kept saying if this was an emergency they would have been long gone, He seemed much calmer and was able to walk out to the ambulance Just now got to wait to see what is going to happen. It is very difficult waiting here on
my own for news
Babdoc your words were very reassuring

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 16:58

@ofwarren @user34254356 I also have found that popping a gaviscon relieves the upper back feeling like something is burning or stuck there. Any ideas why heartburn would be so bad?

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 17:00

@Meercatmama good to hear he’s now being checked out as a precautionary measure - always good just in case

ofwarren · 08/04/2020 17:02

@EMichel102
Maybe it's one of the stomach symptoms that people get, like others have loose stools and vomiting.
There seems to be a lot of us saying the same doesn't there

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 17:12

@ofwarren that makes sense - do you find you also get the burning in your upper back too? That’s where mine is - both centre front and back

ofwarren · 08/04/2020 17:16

Yep, the burn at the front and back is the main symptom at the moment. The back one is the worst.

JackJackIncredible · 08/04/2020 17:24

@Meercatmama

I know it’s scary but he’s in the right place Flowers take care x

user34254356 · 08/04/2020 17:25

@ofwarren @emichel02 that's interesting to know. I have diagnosis of gerd and silent reflux but it doesn't bother me as much often so i don't take omeprazole or gaviscon these days. Maybe that could explain breathlessness that i am feeling but mine is through the day too - but i probably need to eat better to control the acidity then.

@meercatmama that is good to hear. You should feel less stressed as he is on good hands now. Does he have heart problems? Hopefully he will be home soon after a full mot

pinkoneblueone · 08/04/2020 17:27

I am so so sorry about your husband @SchrodingersKitty. I hope he can fight this!
I’d have bleached everything too I wasn’t aware the sun killed the virus too, thank you for sharing that!

I think the back pain and sore throat are the main constants with this virus for me.

ofwarren · 08/04/2020 17:28

I bet because it's all swollen I'm there, acid reflux is making the symptoms much worse.

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 17:28

@user34254356 yes mine is pretty much all day this burning in my back (the most) and a bit front. Makes me feel a bit breathless too even though Sats are ok
