This is just to let you know I am currently in Sorrento, drinking wine as the sun sets. Today I spent a full day at the museum in Naples (with a long lunch break) and tomorrow I am going to Pompeii.

Tonight's supper will be in one of the many little restaurants along the nearest street and will be accompanied by more wine.

I need to relax as much as possible as next week I am back teaching for my favourite term where kids do lots of exams and we get all the good school trips.

My holiday lasts a full week and I flew, with DH, from Edinburgh yesterday. The flight was great but the airport was very busy and we were too cheap to pay extra so had to sit apart.

The rest of the week is not fully planned but any suggestions welcome.

I am on my way to LA, I think I am the first person to get an invite to Harry and Meghan's new pad. Harry said I would love it there, and my room overlooks their pool. He also said, would you mind doing a bit of baby sitting, as me and the wife have an important function to attend.. So I said, no, I will go with you instead of her ladyship.. so he said, ok then, that might be better.

NemophilistRebel · 04/04/2020 19:26

I should be at home alone as DH was flying yesterday to celebrate friends birthday in Europe for the weekend

I instead am at home not alone, which is lovely

I'm in New Orleans. We went on a swamp tour this morning and then a ghost tour this afternoon. Fitted in Cafe du Monde for beignets in between. Tomorrow we board a cruise... can't wait to go zip-lining on Honduras if it had't all been cancelled and I have no idea when we will reschedule our three week 40th birthdays/10th Wedding anniversary extravaganza trip

morecoffeerequired · 04/04/2020 19:32

I should be getting stuff ready for a national exhibition tomorrow. As it is, I'm cooking some pizzas instead.

I am beginning to wish I had booked another holiday for after Italy. Some of your holidays sound amazing.

I am not a fan of Complete Bollox. Gives me a hangover. I prefer something a bit lighter.

I’m on a cruise ship, having spent the morning exploring Orkney, now heading for the Western Isles

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 04/04/2020 19:34

Another who should be in Naples in a couple of weeks - Pompeii and Capri. But now I am in Antigua, taking a trip to Barbuda tomorrow - the most beautiful beaches and sea I have ever seen. The rum punch is good too (and the strawberry daiquiri)!!

didldidi · 04/04/2020 19:35

I should be on Clearwater Beach right now, still a bit jetlagged as we only arrived last night but at least I woke up nice early for my yoga on the beach and now just wondering where to go for dinner.

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 04/04/2020 19:37

I’m in Bora Bora. I didn’t even realise it was a real place but boy! It’s beautiful. I can’t swim but I’m very good at drinking wine thankfully. Also, on a side note, I woke up this morning and I had the perfect beach body! I mean can this day get any better? Later I might enjoy a bit of shopping for clothes that actually look nice on me now GrinWine

I'm off to Paris tomorrow to see my dd - haven't seen her since mid-October. Then in 3 weeks moving on to Sorrento, then Greece. Don't forget to try a specialty cocktail from a Ristorante Augusto in Capri!

(Am rationalizing my delivery order from a local Italian bakery/store by saying I'd be spending more if I were actually there)

Currently, I am on holiday.

Not been to the Amalfi coast since 2011, paying for 3 children to fly is beyond us. Looking forward to our treehouse break near Paris in August, I still have a shred of hope it will go ahead.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/04/2020 19:54

Ok, I like this game.

On even numbered days I am at the Moana Surfrider, lazing on Waikiki Beach and being served Mai Tais by the cabana boys and occasionally taking a dip in the ocean. This evening I will attend the beachside luau and watch the sun go down.

On odd numbered days I am at Disneyland (or maybe Disney World) and having a wonderful crazy time.

Time to get out the pictures and relive past holidays!

At my best friend's wedding. No idea when it's going to happen now.

The virus morphed into nothing more serious than the common cold to which it was related. And they all lived happily ever after. It had turned out in the end to be a brief but deadly encounter.

THE END.

Good night. Balmy here and wine is making me sleepy. Need to be up early to fit in all the culture, gelato and alcohol.

Excellent time of year for going to Sorrento and visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum- not too hot.
Also on another you should get the local train to Pompeii, walk across the town to the big train station and from there go to Paestum. It's a short pleasant walk from the train to the archaeological site where there is a wonderful set of Greek temples set amidst green grass and wildflowers.

AngryBananaSund · 04/04/2020 23:42

Tomorrow afternoon, I plan to be in Rome’s Piazza Navona, sat in one of the coffee shops, looking very cool and relaxed, sunglasses in place and wondering wether to have a slab of cafe with my latte

fairgroundsnack · 05/04/2020 08:29

We are packing up to head home after a glorious week of skiing in the French and Italian Alps. Kids have had an amazing time and are exhausted, we have drunk lots of wine and hot chocolate!

Cismyfatarse1 · 05/04/2020 09:03

My Italian breakfast, with strong coffee, is amazing.

We have secured excellent sunloungers. Just waiting for my mai tai cocktail to arrive. My book is great.

timeforawine · 05/04/2020 09:22

I would do Pompeii and Herculaneum, they are both worth seeing, doing miss the trip up Vesuvius, the bus goes so far then you walk the rest, tough going but worth it.
If you can get over to Capri, we spent a couple of days there, it's gorgeous.
Sorry your missing your holiday OP

I am in Tuscany, in a beautiful villa on the banks of the river Arno, and I am packing a picnic lunch - fresh bread, salami. gorgonzola, olives, cherry tomatoes, grapes and two bottles of red wine - before we head into Lucca to stroll round the city walls in the warm sunshine...

Reality is I am a knackered NHS nurse having the first Sunday off in ages and I am just going to chill and do very little (though will probably drink some red wine later and pretend I am in Italy).

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 05/04/2020 09:39

I am in a lazy river in Florida today.... mmmm

Scottishgirl85 · 05/04/2020 09:49

We are having a much needed holiday from work, visiting my family in Scotland. We are staying with my sister and her family who we rarely see and I miss so much. My girls are having a blast with their cousins and making precious memories with them. It is hectic with 10 of us in the house, and our elderly parents are visiting every other day too, but it is so much fun! We're all going to a big wedding next weekend and then the Easter bunny will pay the kids a visit. They'll have a blast!
