Missed this thread for a couple of days! Hope everyone is well, pleased to hear your mum is on the mend @Pinkarsedfly!

I’ve had a lovely and very boozy afternoon as a group of my friends threw me a hen party over Zoom :) gonna sober up over a takeaway with my partner tonight

PrivateSpidey · 11/04/2020 19:35

Callybrid yes that's exactly it - I've been sleeping until about 8-8.30 as well and it throws everything out of sync if it's every day.

Will also need to set an alarm for Easter bunny duties tomorrow!

MinesaPinot · 11/04/2020 19:50

pinkarsedfly that is fantastic news! You must be so relieved. Flowers to you, your mum and wider family.

I've had a real wobble today - made the mistake of reading the other threads and the Daily Mail on line and I've scared myself. Now sitting with DH having had lovely dinner and watching the end of Indiana Jones before digging out a dvd. Will try and do better tomorrow.

DianneWhatcock · 11/04/2020 20:13

@MinesaPinot honestly stay away from the rest of mn it's gone batshit

That was the mistake I made earlier today I think ! And deffo stay away from the daily mail 😬

Pinkarsedfly · 11/04/2020 20:15

Thanks for all the good wishes. She really is a fighter.

Noooblerooble · 11/04/2020 20:21

I love MN. I have been here since 2008. It is full of highly intelligent, wonderful women. But my god people have lost their heads over this. By which i mean they are posting so much shit. I'm not judging anyone for being scared. Every time I wander onto another thread I think 'wtf??!' It's actually harmful though because if someone reads half the stuff on here and is vulnerable in any way, they are at risk of harm. I don't think MNHQ can do much about it but it's very concerning. The reality is bad enough but ideally we'd all just stick to the facts.

Arcadia · 11/04/2020 20:40

There's some seriously bizarre stuff being spouted on MN at the moment- I'm really disappointed by it as generally it's a sensible place. Sticking with you guys Smile

Millie2013 · 11/04/2020 20:46

I don’t like some of the nastiness on MN, but on the whole, it’s a great community
I think (hope) that the sharing of bizarre and unsubstantiated shite is by a small minority

tobee · 11/04/2020 21:00

Catching up on today's thread beside dd and ds (who are on their phones) and loudly went "YAY!!!" to Pinkarsedfly's update about her mum! They looked at me as if I'd finally lost it! Grin

Waiting for a Domino's with the dc! Blush

Scrubbed the kitchen sink today and have done lots of washing, picked up some food shopping from sil and now chilling'.

Don't normally do this but put up some Easter decorations today:- a string of hessian bunnies on my mantle piece and three toy chicks on the coffee table!
Happy Easter everyone!

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing as well as you can be in the circumstances.

Some good news out of Spain today. They are obviously convinced that they're over the peak and non-essential workers are going back to work on Monday. Lots of stuff around social distancing, allowing people to arrive early / leave late to stretch rush hour out for public transport, special dispensation for people with health conditions.

But the fact they're starting to get people back to work is a good sign, if you ask me. Not much coverage of this on the UK websites but I'm getting this from one of hte main Spanish newspapers, El Mundo.

Arcadia · 11/04/2020 22:23

Thanks @PineappleDanish that's helpful.

DianneWhatcock · 11/04/2020 22:33

Totally Agreed @nooblerooble

I've been here a long time too ( since 2009 as well in various guises 😂 ) and yes I'm disappointed how so many posters have gone over this. I thought we had a lot of rational and intelligent women on here but I dunno what has happened Confused

Arcadia · 11/04/2020 22:37

I'm from 2009 too!

Arcadia · 12/04/2020 07:00

Happy Easter everyone!
Awake early again here but feel good.
Looking forward to today, DH is off work, one neighbours bought me an egg to give to DH so that will be a surprise for him (I couldn't get to shops) and another neighbour is doing a surprise Easter egg hunt for my DD in her front garden and she will watch from the window.
We're going to du a cooked breakfast mid morning then chill out. Probably no roast dinner today.
Have-a good day everyone! DaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

Bunnyflop · 12/04/2020 07:24

How lovely that your neighbour is doing the hunt @Arcadia !

Happy Easter y’all! 🐣

Arcadia · 12/04/2020 07:28

I know @Bunnyflop this has really brought out the best in our neighbourhood!

Noooblerooble · 12/04/2020 08:20

Morning all! Happy Easter

Yesterday a girl in our town had an 18th birthday. Lots of people put up happy birthday banners so she could walk around and spot them all. There are photos up in a local FB group of her standing by lots of different ones! It was so heartwarming

Good news from Oxford, 510 people are taking part in a vaccine trial! www.ox.ac.uk/news/2020-03-27-oxford-covid-19-vaccine-programme-opens-clinical-trial-recruitment There are murmurs about the team behind it having 80% confidence it will work which seems appropriately cautious but optimistic.

They are also testing potential treatments at Oxford too. I feel like even if this is going to rumble on for months the people who have to catch it later are going to benefit from there being more knowledge about how to fight this. Fingers crossed anyway

Enhly your days. I am looking forward to a long walk, lots of cake and chocolate and a dose of sunbathing with a good book and a mutt plonked on my lap.

Noooblerooble · 12/04/2020 08:20

*enjoy

MinesaPinot · 12/04/2020 09:49

Morning all, Happy Easter!

I know that stepping away from the other threads and the Daily Mail is definitely the way to go. DH caught me yesterday - I'd just finished doing my Avon order - and he said 'don't look at that, you know it makes you scared '. He's right of course.

I must admit that I have been appalled by the sheer vitriol of some posters on MN over this. It's hard enough, but some people have shown themselves to be sanctimonious, spiteful,, vicious and, quite frankly, vile. Self-appointed petty dictators policing what is 'essential' and even to the extent of saying you shouldn't be in your garden when neighbours are in there as you can't be sure you can do social distancing. And don't get me started with the 'science crowd' spouting ill -informed facts and figures which are scaremongering and panic inducingAngry

Phew, rant over!

On a happier note, the sun is shining and, wonder of wonders, I was sorting out a cupboard in our dining room and found an unopened bottle of gin!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/04/2020 10:07

After the war people who were prone to being regulation-minded about their neighbours' behaviour used to be called "little Hitlers". There was a lovely row when one such busybody demanded to see someone's identity card in 1952 and she told him to do one -- and he discovered that he had no authority any more, because they'd just been abolished.

Happy Easter everyone.

Alsohuman · 12/04/2020 10:16

Happy Easter, sane ones. Here’s today’s Sunday Telegraph good news. It’s very brief.

Orangeblossom78 · 12/04/2020 10:19

Yes trying to be aware of what we out in our minds is helpful, trying to do the same myself. Even the BBC can be a bit much at times, with it's rolling news.

Have a peaceful Easter Sunday. Flowers

Bunnyflop · 12/04/2020 10:28

Henry says happy Easter. I just ate some maltesers while chilling and journaling in bed. Pretty good. Stay positive and enjoy the sunshine everyone. ☀️
