New thread for us

OP posts:

@user34254356 I had exactly the same 're diarrhoea - would feel particularly awful, feverish and anxious, then have diarrhoea and immediately feel better. I felt like it was my body ridding itself of the illness - no idea what a gastric infection entails, sorry!

Spacecadetagain · 02/04/2020 14:14

@baroqueandblue . If it helps I’ve had excruciating rib pain and thoracic pain . I’ve had days where I’ve seriously felt that if I was x rayed it would show all my ribs broken !

OP posts:
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 02/04/2020 14:15

baroqueandblue I'm really sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. I've not had really sharp pain, more aching like a fluey pain. Sore kidneys/liver and tightness, heaviness, aching and burning in my lungs as well as breathlessness. Not sharp or stabbing really, not like it sounds you are describing. I would maybe call your GP again?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 02/04/2020 14:17
  • also are you drinking plenty of water? Dehydrated muscles can cramp - I did have some leg cramps before I upped my water intake.
user34254356 · 02/04/2020 14:19

@ScrimpshawTheSecond at least someone else has had the same! how are you doing today? is your diarrhoea gone?

@baroqueandblue sorry i haven't had this symptom but people have complained about sharp stabbing pains and what you describe is sort of similar. Are you using paracetamol and has that helped?

@longshot sounds like you are definitely on your way to recovery. woohoo!!

Sulusu · 02/04/2020 14:20

Hi, has anyone here fighting this nasty virus, got ME/fibromyalgia?

I have feeling under the weather for week now, terrible headaches with a bit of a dry cough. Also had mild temp on and off around 37 to 37.6. I'm wondering if I have it, but bearing in mind I feel ill and flu like every day of my life anyway, I'm not sure if it's just weird CFS flare up. I'm feeling worse today and have gone back to bed with terrible headache and exhaustion.

I'm rambling a bit apologies. I just want to know if I have it or not, it's frustrating.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 14:21

@baroqueandblue

I think on reflection I wouldn't call the sensations in my lungs 'pain' - extreme discomfort from burning/heavy sensations and constricted feelings, but not pain exactly, more inflammation type sensations (albeit very uncomfortable and sometimes unnerving ones) . Not sure if that helps at all.

ShastaBeast · 02/04/2020 14:21

Day 22, 19 days of coughing. Anyone sleeping loads? I did 10 hours which is unusual, especially after napping during the day. I’m not sure if it’s due to illness or the boredom. Cough is still there, but less severe, and asthma still flared up. My 10yr old was coughing and wheezing last night.

baroqueandblue · 02/04/2020 14:21

@Spacecadetagain yes that's exactly it!! Shock You poor soul, I totally sympathise - I've been terrified thinking it's going to progress and I'm going to end up crippled! Last night was the worst because even though the last few days haven't been easy, I was starting to feel as though it might be healing slowly, and then throughout the night it felt worse than ever Hmm

Today I'm sitting up in bed feeling v delicate but not as sore, and able to hold off on taking my first dose of painkillers for the day. But am dreading what seems like the almost inevitable 'tear' or 'pull' at some point and being right back down there again. I can feel the ache and tenderness when I breathe in, between the spinal column and the right ribs, like a beast that's sleeping with one eye open...

How are you doing today? Flowers

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 14:22

@baroqueandblue

But I'm sorry to hear you're feeling in so much pain.

hollieberrie · 02/04/2020 14:23

Checking in. I've spent the last 36 hours in bed feeling awful - cough, chills, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, headache, dizzy, the full works. I've just managed some toast and a coffee which has helped and feeling slightly more human and able to post.

@mumlurker I'm also on day 20 and feeling the worst I've felt so far. Have a hand hold, it sucks. Lets hope we turn the corner soon.

@Porcupineinwaiting @longshot @littleblackdress04 @tangledyarn @Casino218 Thanks again for your kind words and support on thread 4, sorry i haven't managed a reply until now,
How are you all doing now? Better i hope! Maybe you've all said on this thread, i need to catch up, will have a read now.

Its been very scary, so so glad you are all here.

onlinelinda · 02/04/2020 14:25

@user, it's endless isn't it?

The thing is , I truly thought I was at the end over the last few days. I probably still am. I can eat and I'm not breathless. But I simply can't keep control of my temperature. That said, my god there are people far worse, and I'm in a nice warm bed in my own home.

You seem to be on the up, @longshot. I see you're still a bit in the woods, @Findingschoolsformyboys .
I think avoiding too much acid foods and also excess fat might be a good precaution for anyone with possible reflux.

SomnolentSekhmet · 02/04/2020 14:25

@user34254356 re the diarrhoea, I think I read somewhere that the same kind of cells the virus attacks in the lungs, are also present in the gut which is why some people get gastro symptoms so I'd guess that it's a part of the virus, not a separate stomach virus.

findingschools4myboys · 02/04/2020 14:32

@ShastaBeast
Yes am sleeping way more than I usually do. Usually sleep 6/7 hours now sleeping 10 plus hours and wake up still tired. Also try and nap during the day!
@onlinelinda
Yes this is getting rather frustrating. My anxiety went back up with the breathlessness. Although my oximeter keeps telling me I am fine. I asked my doc and he said a lot of patients taking 4-6 weeks to recover. Guessing that Is patients who had it early and possible reports from abroad.

LarkDescending · 02/04/2020 14:33

@baroqueandblue I hear you about the frightening levels of rib pain at the back. Earlier this week for 36 hours I was inconsolable for pain, and exactly as you describe my whole right side appeared to go into spasm. It was extraordinarily painful. I couldn’t hold myself straight when I hobbled to the pharmacy - my right side was being pulled down by the muscle spasm.

The pharmacist told me to call the GP and discuss muscle relaxants. I got a prescription for diazepam, plus naproxen (and protective omeprazole). I now still have nagging and persistent pain in the kidney area, but the unbearable spasm/cramping has gone.

(I must admit that I had no idea this was what diazepam could do!)

I hope you can find some resolution soon.

tangledyarn · 02/04/2020 14:33

@sulusu Yes me, although am quite a long way in now, definitely think the cfs is hampering my recovery and some symptoms are crossing over like sore throat, dizziness and fatigue. It's hard not knowing, I'm pretty certain as have been 'diagnosed' by a couple of gps and 111 nurse. I think you have to assume you have it, isolate, rest up and drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon xx

Zzzexhaustedzzz · 02/04/2020 14:34

@longshot I have had pain in between my shoulder blades since noon-ish! I’m on day 22 and feeling much better otherwise, on the whole.
Except the eye thing is bugging me. My eyes keep feeling swollen and uncomfortable, but not streaming and no vision problem.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 02/04/2020 14:34

@user34254356 my stomach seems much better now, yep. I do still feel pretty shitty, weak and a bit dizzy, but not so breathless and the anxiety/panic seems to have gone, too. Thank fuck!

Sulusu · 02/04/2020 14:36

@tangledyarn Thanks for the reply. I am tucked up in bed now, sitting up suddenly felt too much of an effort. Hope you feel better soon x

baroqueandblue · 02/04/2020 14:36

Oh, just saw that others had also posted in reply, thank you Smile

Yes, I'm very good at staying hydrated and I know that helps, but perhaps I'd be worse off if I wasn't taking so many fluids! Thankfully I love my water and herbal teas, and have managed - some days with awful difficulty - to fill and lift the kettle. Been taking paracetamol and cocodamol (not at the same time) every day, and also arnica in case it was some kind of osteoporotic fragility fracture. Worryingly, NSAIDs are apparently contra-indicated for COVID-19 Confused

I really appreciate people who are describing the nature of their painful sensations, and I guess it's going to hit most of us in idiosyncratic ways to some extent, depending on our usual state of health. Like you @Sulusu, I'm a fibro sufferer and live with daily cold or flu-like symptoms as well as different episodes of pain. But this feels like broken bone pain, despite there being nothing I've done or experienced in the last few weeks to cause that. My imagination has been catastrophising that the virus attacks our muscles and nervous system (as someone earlier in the thread wondered about). Who knows if it doesn't?!

tangledyarn · 02/04/2020 14:39

@hollieberrie Sorry you are still struggling, its miserable isn't it..but am sure we will all get through it. Am so fed up of my bed particularly because it constantly feels sweaty and smelly with me in itGrin

baroqueandblue · 02/04/2020 14:44

@LarkDescending I'm so sorry to hear you've had so much pain to deal with, thank you for describing it. So lovely to hear that that particular side of things has improved for you, although you're clearly not out of the woods yet.

I was prescribed diazepam a couple of years ago for a wry neck episode and hardly used it. I had forgotten about it but it's probably still here somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out! Sounds like it has really helped you. Can I ask what strength it was and how much and how often you were taking it? If I remember rightly mine was 2mg.

LarkDescending · 02/04/2020 14:53

@baroqueandblue my diazepam prescription is 2mg up to 3x per day as needed, with the usual sensible warnings about not overdoing it (addictive) and not drinking or driving after using it (as it is sedating).

I can’t advise you, but I can tell you my experience: it was transformative. Even though I was dosed up on Naproxen, my pain was still unbearable when I took one diazepam tablet before bed on Tuesday night. No position was tolerable. The more I moved or inhaled, the more I suffered. I did not know what to do with myself.

I woke up the next morning having had a full night’s sleep and with merely localised pain and discomfort which is easily manageable. I haven’t had to take another diazepam since, but am very reassured that I have them in case it heads in that direction again.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 14:54

@hollieberrie

Hope your symptoms ease off as the day goes on. Fingers crossed the end is in sight :)

Casino218 · 02/04/2020 14:58

@baroque there is guidance re the use of NSAIS on gov. Uk site.
