Glory be. Evening of day 18 and I'm running a temperature for the first time. Anybody else start with a temperature later rather than sooner?

BunsyGirl · 05/04/2020 19:56

@Porcupineinwaiting

BunsyGirl · 05/04/2020 19:57

@Porcupineinwaiting I got a temperature on day 7 but it then continued on and off for 5 weeks!

findingschools4myboys · 05/04/2020 20:03

Just in middle of bath and bed and watching queen speech!
@longshot @TheDrsWife46 @user34254356
I will write more later but husband and I have both tested positive on the antibody test. Both igM and igG positive. The two other adults who live in our house have had no symptoms and tested negative.
Will test two of my children tomorrow.

EMichel102 · 05/04/2020 20:08

@findingschools4myboys very interesting to know the positive result and thanks for sharing!

Has anyone experienced worsening heartburn / acid reflux through their progression and what did they do beyond some gaviscon or nexium? Did it improve?

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 20:10

Omg.

I cant believe it that you’ve tested positive. I dont know whether to be happy for you or not. Because today my littlest daughter is broken, she has been a shall of herself shes 8 but tiny like a 5yr old. Anyway her teeny little body was just all bunched up and she admitted that shes frightened. She doesnt want to make a rainbow for the window because shes scared of whats happening outside.

And it hit me. Im desperate to know if i’ve had it. If dd1 has had it. And DH who is asymptomatic.

But what if little DD is negative. How frightened will she be to be the only one still fearing it. How the fuck would I deal with that myself.

Can i just ask you again for the link of where you got it? Do I need to be in London like it made me think?

Porcupineinwaiting · 05/04/2020 20:14

@EMichel102 I am managing with gaviscon at the moment but if you cant you could ask your gp to prescribe omeprazole, which is marvellous for acid reflux. Also try and rest propped up a bit after meals, that helps.

Porcupineinwaiting · 05/04/2020 20:15

@BunsyGirl thanks. Something to look forward to, eh?

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 20:15

There is NO antibody test currently available.

This was in an article on the guardian.... today

* Is there any way to know whether someone has had Covid-19 in the past?*

Dr William Hillmann: At this point, we don’t have a test to tell that. We are developing antibody tests to check for a prior infection, but those aren’t ready for clinical use yet. The only definitive way to know that you’ve had it is to get tested while you have it and to have that test be positive.

Full article here
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/05/have-i-already-had-coronavirus-how-would-i-know

And here is a CNN article. Just 3 days ago. The headline? * FDA authorizes first coronavirus antibody test*

www.cnn.com/2020/04/02/health/fda-coronavirus-antibody-test-authorization/index.html

Even more compellingly... my best friend’s husband is an NHS consultant general surgeon. I text him to say that someone in a forum has said they have got an antibody test and does he know where I can buy.

His response? “They don’t have one and you can’t buy one”.

hollytom · 05/04/2020 20:18

It’s three weeks since I started with symptoms and I am feeling much better but not yet fully recovered.
I did have two lots of antibiotics which I think made a big difference as I was struggling with chest tightness and pain last weekend. I am still taking it easy as I have found that if I do a bit too much one day then I take a backward step the next day. There is light at the end of the tunnel just take it slowly and you will get there.

BunsyGirl · 05/04/2020 20:21

@Porcupineinwaiting It is actually crazy when I look back because I didn’t realise that I had the virus for weeks. My breathing was so bad. I do have asthma but it is well controlled and rarely causes me a problem. I am pleased to say that my breathing has gone back to normal now.

tootsey · 05/04/2020 20:22

I'm thinking that findingschools is talking nonsense. The antibody tests have not been released yet for use.

user34254356 · 05/04/2020 20:24

@findingschools4myboys omg - at least you know now. Does that mean that you are still recovering as both antibodies are present?

Is the test available from the same place where you had got the diagnostic test from? Is it easy to do it at home?

Bornlazy · 05/04/2020 20:25

Sleeping on your front will probably make your heartburn worse as it puts pressure on your stomach. Raising the head of the bed or sleeping propped up on pillows should help. I get heartburn anyway and take regular omeprazole but I have noticed it being much worse with this virus.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 05/04/2020 20:26

Hi All, Day 24 here and my temp is 37.8. What joy! This illness is the gift that just keeps giving.

Standrewsschool · 05/04/2020 20:26

Day 21 - much better day and almost feel normal, although have lingering cough. Also had tight knot /heartburn/chest pain today which worries me slightly. Occasionally had a slight twinge. No temperature for third day in row.

user34254356 · 05/04/2020 20:27

@Bringringbring12 @tootsey i do know of one place which is advertising an antibody test.

I believe when the papers state we don't have an antibody test, they are referring to a reliable one which is cheap like a pregnancy test. The idea was to roll out cheap tests for £10 or so. The one that findingschools4myboys is referring to (as far as I understand) is considerably more expensive.

user34254356 · 05/04/2020 20:28

@standrews that's great news. I am day 19 today so hopefully can say the same in 2 days!!

@GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit oh no. Did you have temperature persistently or it has returned after a break?

OneDayAtATime123 · 05/04/2020 20:31

@Porcupineinwaiting
Please check with your GP for guidance on any secondary bacterial infection ?. I hope you feel better.

Squiz81 · 05/04/2020 20:31

Have you heard the advice to lay on your front as it eases pressure on the lungs and can help Covid recovery. If you look on YouTube a Dr from Queens hospital in Romford has done a video on it.

Crayfishforyou · 05/04/2020 20:37

Day 7 and my temp is not as high as yesterday but I have now developed a cough and my chest is on fire.
Sad Sad Sad

baroqueandblue · 05/04/2020 20:40

broken bones from my childhood are aching as if I’d done them a month ago.

^This. Well, my version of it at any rate - bones I've broken in the last 20-25 years. Spine, ribs, sternum. I'm day 20. Yesterday I really felt I was turning a corner. Much less pain for most of the day (allowing for the fact that I was still being very careful with myself!) and felt positive and quite well in myself. But today has been a very different story. The pain has been worryingly bad again, my breathing has been quite hard and I have this jittery 'infected' feeling in my chest and diaphragm. It's the kind of anxiety I usually associate with needing antibiotics. And yet since the day all the pain started I haven't had a cough or a temperature. Except... tonight my left ear is burning, and aching intermittently, and I feel hot. I've got a spray in the drawer that's for an ear infection I had in the other ear a few weeks ago, mixture of antibiotic and steroid, so am going to dig that out.

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 20:41

I seem to recall that @findingschools4myboys had found a private clinic that were initially offering appointments to be tested. She then got one by post. She posted the clinic details I just cant recall how to scour 40 pages of thread that quickly.

I myself contacted SureScreen in Derby who are listed in the paper as producing tests for Public Health England And www.dnaworkplace.com/pages/how-it-works both of whom advised me that they arent CE licensed for home distribution and could only sell business to business.

As such i firmly believe that @findingschools4myboys could have procured a test if a purchasing business was willing to sell it on to her. I personally would have paid excessive amounts to get tested myself.

alittleprivacy · 05/04/2020 20:41

Even more compellingly... my best friend’s husband is an NHS consultant general surgeon. I text him to say that someone in a forum has said they have got an antibody test and does he know where I can buy.

The Private Clinic of Harley Street has antibody tests for sale. It's on their website. I don't know what their reliability rating is. But they are conducting antibody tests in the clinic and will ship them to people who want them for home. I number of companies are selling them in large batches to organisations who want them for their staff.

Antibody testing can also be done under lab conditions. A study of blood donations in Castiglione d'Adda in Lombardy showed that 70% of donations contained Coronavirus antibodies.

OneDayAtATime123 · 05/04/2020 20:41

@Coleoptera
Day 18: I never had the fever or cough, but had breathlessness, loss of smell , fatigue, etc. The smell and taste has improved a lot though since week 2.
