New thread for us

OP posts:

@TheDrsWife46
I will PM you.
@Bringringbring12
There are tests available privately. They have not been government approved. The test I took today was from a company called Surescreen diagnostics based in Derby. You will find them listen in article about antibody tests in the telegraph.
For us the results made sense. We tested positive for both igM and igG. I have been quite poorly at home for over 3 weeks and husband had exact same symptoms. The two other adults in the house have had no symptoms and were negative.
I bought these tests last minute as I had already booked to get a test done in a clinic in London for week after next. That is made by a different company.
Just want to make it clear that I am not making this up. But am also aware that yes, these tests have not been government approved and obviously need to take results with a pinch of salt. Although the results made sense in our house.

SureScreen, a Derby firm, has created a finger-prick test which they say takes 10 minutes to return a result and is 98 per cent accurate. The tests are reportedly being used by private companies in a number of European countries.

I'm late to the party. Day 6. No temperature but my chest and head hurt. Dr is pretty sure it's Covid. I've been checked by a cardiologist to make sure it's not my heart. My breathing is much worse today and I feel like crap. Dr is ringing back tomorrow to check up on me.

I've nrtft(s) but I've read enough to know that many of you have the same symptoms and it has helped to know that I'm not alone. Thank you.

findingschools4myboys · 05/04/2020 20:51

Just adding photo of the test packet and my test as I don’t want people thinking I am making stuff up! Not the time to be messing around 🤔

My lungs Part 5
Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 20:56

That’s a test for whether or not you have C
It is not an antibody test, which will tell you whether you have had it

KatySun · 05/04/2020 20:58

Can somebody help me with a question, please?

I have done the breathing exercises recommended on the Queens video twice today as well as sleeping propped up on pillows. Now I feel as if I have something stuck in my throat and am coughing more. Chest is still sore front and back. I coughed up some white gunk (sorry TMI). Is that a good or a bad thing?

On day 17 from first day of cough.

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 20:59

** How do I get myself a private coronavirus test and what's the cost?

There are a number of private clinics and laboratories offering home-testing kits for people who want to know whether they have coronavirus.

Summerfield Healthcare is offering one of the cheapest tests, with prices ranging from £199 to £299. The Private Harley Street Clinic is selling a home testing kit for £395 which also covers nine other respiratory viruses, including flu.**

Conscious that this thread is about to block and i dont know how to start a new one and link it back but that test is for
IgM the antigen
IgG the antibody if you look at my above link for dnaworkplace it shows how the posters test is legit. I also contacted Surescreen who are supplying other european countries with their tests, but are unlicensed here yet. The poster has taken a risk to have an unlicensed product

longshot · 05/04/2020 21:00

@findingschools4myboys thank you for updating! Very interesting to hear your results and obviously can’t think why anyone would accuse you of making it up! If I could get my hands on a test I probably would do but currently just wanting to get rid of this bloody back pain. I’m pretty sure I’ve had it given my symptoms and yours...I also spoke to my GP friend yesterday who said ‘i would be willing to bet my mortgage on you having had it’. Which is enough for me!

With the other people in your house who are negative, did you isolate or were you around them?

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:01

The antibody test will require a pinprick is blood rather than a swab the reports indicate

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 21:02

Can you see her blood sample on the section marked “S” for sample and the B is where she has applied the buffer solution.

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:02

I don’t think you made it up
I think you think you have carried out an antibody test
You haven’t
You have carried a covid 19 test

Different thing. An antibody test would tell you whether you have ever had it. Very useful as means those who only had mild symptoms or even no symptoms will know

longshot · 05/04/2020 21:04

@TheDrsWife46 and thank you for your last post, I was just about to write the same thing! Clearly an antibody test as you have described!

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 21:05

New thread i hope, i tried. I didnt want this to go bang after all the support

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3872239-My-Lungs-Part-6

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:05

I see. My mistake. Testing for covid 19 can be Blood or swab
Antibody only bloody

The overwhelming consensus, and I do mean overwhelming, is that no antibody test is in circulation. For governments let alone personal

longshot · 05/04/2020 21:06

@Bringringbring12 this is the antibody test, it’s a fingertip blood test i assume, it clearly tests for:

Covid
IGG
IMG

Which are they antibodies associated with Covid.

My lungs Part 5
Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:06

Only blood

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 21:07

@Bringringbring12

Click on this link to see exactly how to read the test that shows she has both the antigen of a current infection and developing the antibodies

My lungs Part 5
Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:07

Yes
It will tell you whether covid 19 has been detected ie you are currently suffering from jr.

Someone who has suffered but recovered fully will produce a negative result

Whereas on an antibody test - the latter will be positive

Bringringbring12 · 05/04/2020 21:09

please do literally the most basic of research and you will see an antibody test is not in circulation

I’ll duck out now

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 21:12

I have researched it.
Take a good hard look at my research.
The fact that the poster has been tested for both igm and igG both of which ive given you links as to how this is possible in one test and also how she has procured one.

Good luck if ever you need to read a test of your own. We’ll all be here to help you decipher the result. I’ll wait on the new thread for anyone else wanting support whilst they feel like they are in utter despair....see you all there

TheDrsWife46 · 05/04/2020 21:13

Incidentally they arent in circulation. You’re right. Our government hasnt licensed them. Doesnt mean that they arent available and being sent off to other european countries. Bravo @findingschools4myboys for nabbing yourself one no matter what the cost. I would too.

Notcool1984 · 05/04/2020 21:49

Just wanted to join in again.
On day 11 if you include mild symptoms and day 7 of feeling vile.
Are people having to take deeper breaths? My main symptoms are lung pain, extreme fatigue and chills / tiredness. I’ve noticed my breathing more today (although peak flow is fine around 500), so not sure if I’m just worrying about that too much.

findingschools4myboys · 05/04/2020 22:42

@user34254356
My doctor said it’s most likely a crossover between the acute phase and the immunity phase. So I think means I am at later stage of infection. And further down the line only the igG should be present.

My friend gave me the contact for this test. Based in London. I wasn’t going to order it as I had already booked through private harley but I have booked for 10 days away and I thought why not try this one out too. Are you based in London?

Annoyingly both my husband and I had to use two of the finger prickers each so I don’t have left for the last test. When I did the first one I sort of jumped so it didn’t actually prick my finger. I found it easier for my husband to do it on me. Then the rest was pretty simple. Make sure you have a good drop of blood or more, suck it up with pipette. Put it in the area it’s meant to go then put the solution in the other bit. Then wait 10 min. My results came up immediately, it was rather morbidly exciting! If that’s such a thing 🤔
