@tangledyarn sorry I didn’t respond yesterday as I had a massive sleep! Having asthma will likely make your recovery slower. It is so frustrating but be kind to yourself and listen to your body. I hope you feel better soon.

putastrawunderbaby · 02/04/2020 12:28

@PrimalLass it's reassuring to know I'm not alone - thank you

So sorry for everyone that's really suffering with this. Get well soon all

EMichel102 · 02/04/2020 12:59

@user34254356 my appetite is still not back sadly but I force myself to eat. And I typically love food! I’ve lost loads of weight (silver lining?!) but it is a bit scary too.

tangledyarn · 02/04/2020 13:08

@woofwoof50 oh really glad you managed some good sleep. Yeah I know have to keep reminding myself that It will take me longer. Thankyou Flowers

I've also totally lost my apetite and have lost loads of weight, which has literally never happened to me in my whole life..but I am really trying to eat more now as worried its affecting my recovery.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 13:12

For those of you who feel almost recovered, how did you know you were on the mend? Yesterday and today (days 20 and 21) have been the worst days for me so far so feeling a bit hopeless!

Casino218 · 02/04/2020 13:16

@mumlurker yes I felt bad on those days. I think my temperature went up on day 20. The chest tightness eased, temp came down and I didn't feel as tired anymore

Woofwoof50 · 02/04/2020 13:23

@mumlurker It’s hard to describe how feeling better is and I’ve had a couple of ‘false recoveries’ but now it feels like the virus is receding in my body, the fizzing, burning, aching feeling is much less and I just feel a bit more normal. Still very tired though. I felt awful Tuesday and then Wednesday just much better but slept loads. Last night I managed a shower, some dinner and TV! It’s like my immune system is finally starting to win. Keep going and keep resting. I found eating helped. Take care.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 13:24

@Casino218

That gives me some hope, and I'm glad you're feeling better! My chest has eased off massively, but I feel really dizzy at times and breathlessness last night/this morning really had me worried. Lack of sleep and anxiety not helping either.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 02/04/2020 13:26

Well I am scared to tempt fate, but I no longer feel like I might worsen, if that makes sense - I feel like shit but not like I'm at risk. The breathlessness is much better, though I couldn't read kids a story I am no longer struggling to get a breath. And my body temp feels stable again, no chills or fever.
I have not coughed once, fwiw.

EMichel102 · 02/04/2020 13:31

@mumlurker I also get dizzy / feel like I’m on a boat that is rocking. But overall a bit more energy I suppose.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 13:32

@Woofwoof50

Weirdly I've been ok appetite wise until the last few days, but just forced myself to eat. Not normally a problem at all! I haven't been out the house in weeks so food combinations have become increasingly unorthodox...

Hope you're still able to get lots of rest, looking forward to joining the veterans club with you all!

onlinelinda · 02/04/2020 13:34

Still chills today, day 18/19. No other symptoms of note, but that one is a real pain. Rang 111 again for advice as temp 36.4 and they said to call my doctor but I stopped myself mid dial. What's the point? There isn't any advice they can give, and I can breathe, at least.

longshot · 02/04/2020 13:41

Hi all,

Wow this thread moves fast, haven't looked for 24 hours as feeling much better and there have been so many messages!

So i think it's day 22 here i think. I am still feeling pretty OK, improving every day. I get tired but today is the first day i haven't felt i need to go to bed in the middle of the day to rest. I am reading quietly for an hour while the DCs watch TV but generally able to do most things at home now and look after them fine. Still doing no exercise of note as haven't got the energy.

I am still taking paracetamol regularly, feel better with it but may stop that tomorrow I think.

Oh and one 'new' symptom i wondered if anyone has in the later stages, i think I have heartburn. I am getting quite a bit of pain if I drink a hot drink in the evening especially and generally have an ache between my shoulder blades sort of down my spine from lunch onwards. Anyone have this or is it just me? @Casino218 @tangledyarn @SchrodingersKitty @stayathomegardener
Could be unrelated of course. Might try some gaviscon and see if it helps.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 13:41

I've reached a point where only a very few of my symptoms - breathlessness and heart palpitations - make me anxious. I just keep trying to focus on the fact that no matter how bad a particular symptom feels - burning lungs, nausea, breathlessness - it always passes eventually. Makes the virus deceptive because I keep thinking the symptoms have passed completely, only to find they crop up again. But knowing they'll pass and focusing on that has really been helping me get through the worst spikes.

longshot · 02/04/2020 13:42

@EMichel102 just seen your post about dizzyness, just to say I had that up until Tuesday (day 20 i think, maybe 21) and it's totally gone now, it was horrid but it just stopped one morning. I also found it was worse if I didn't eat.

user34254356 · 02/04/2020 13:43

@Standrewsschool great suggestion on watching Mallory towers! I loved the books growing up.

Can I get some advice please? I have had diarrhoea every other day though it's not full on and constant. I have noticed that every time I do have a diarrhoea episode I feel a lot better - less feverish/flushed face feeling and more energetic. Does this suggest that I may also have a gastric infection alongside and should I call my GP again tomorrow? They will probably be sick of me by now but I wonder if this is what is prolonging my recovery now.

mumlurker · 02/04/2020 13:44

I have had really bad heartburn the last few days - according to a doctor friend, this can be a common 'hangover' thing you get when a viral infection is on its way out. Not sure if that's true but I'm holding on to it!

Elllicam · 02/04/2020 13:44

@longshot I seem to have a lot of heartburn too. I think I’m day 12 but could be more as I had mild symptoms for a while beforehand.

user34254356 · 02/04/2020 13:45

@onelinda i hear you on chills and general feverish feeling but no actual fever.

Casino218 · 02/04/2020 13:48

@longshot I think it's costochondritis. I took Brufen it improved.

EMichel102 · 02/04/2020 13:56

@longshot good to hear the dizziness will likely clear up soon! Thank you

findingschools4myboys · 02/04/2020 14:04

@EMichel102
I developed severe dizziness second week in. Vertigo, for one week. My body felt like it was in quicksand- horrible feeling.
@longshot
I am also day 22. Actually feeling worse than 3 days ago. Breathlessness came back (not as bad as at its worse) but I have had this burning pain in my chest yesterday that turned to stabbing pain today and I think it was some sort of heartburn as when I burped (excuse me!) it got better.

ofwarren · 02/04/2020 14:06

@longshot
I've had acid reflux the whole way through.
My GP is ringing me later to prescribe some omeprasole. I really do think it makes the breathlessness worse.

GidgetGirl · 02/04/2020 14:06

@longshot Yep, lots of heartburn here too from the end of week 1 onwards, despite never having had it in my life before. Also terrrrible hungry tummy at night which keeps me awake, even if I’ve been eating ok. Hot drinks are slightly painful like you describe, which I’m assuming is the result of the heartburn.

baroqueandblue · 02/04/2020 14:07

Hi everyone, wanted to get some feedback on the pain side of the virus because I don't know what to make of how it has affected me so far. Which makes me wonder if it is the virus or something else (like, something serious that won't necessarily go away, like a virus will eventually).

People on these threads have talked about lung pain and burning lungs, or chest pain, and some have mentioned upper back pain, kidney pain, etc. My experience has been that for quite a while before I got all this pain I had a productive cough that went on for weeks. Also had lots of ulcers and burning pain in my mouth and gums. Then on Tuesday 17th of last month I suddenly felt some sharp soreness in my thoracic spine that happened while I was out and made walking a bit painful. Later that day the pain had spread to the right hand side of my ribcage and was stopping me from moving as freely as I usually do. Since that day, I've had very little in the way of a cough, no fever (occasional bit of night sweats is the closest I've come), no temperature as far as I'm aware (but no thermometer either). I've been breathless on exertion near the beginning of the pain when I tried to carry heavy shopping from the bus stop to my front door and had to keep stopping every few yards to rest and get my breath back. Some resting breathlessness but mostly not enough to make me panic. But oh my god the pain Sad

It has mostly gone between my right hand ribs and the middle of my thoracic spine, occasionally moving down my spine and into the left ribs (but not as much). I've had 'core' pain around my diaphragm/solar plexus area too. If I sneeze or cough it pulls excruciatingly on sheets of muscle on the right of my spine and they 'lock' or cramp - just as if I move the wrong way my mid-spine and right ribcage seize up and I'm in agony deep breathing to try to release the cramps in the muscles. I've had lots of problems going from lying down to sitting up without sending searing pain shooting through my ribs, and from standing to sitting and vice versa. It feels like my bones are broken (from past experience in those areas I know the feeling!) but how can they be? I've done nothing to hurt them.

Anyway, 17 days on from the onset of pain I had possibly the roughest night after a relatively easier day until, late yesterday evening I moved the wrong way twice and the muscles between my spine and right ribs locked again (the pain makes me cry out some very choice phrases!) and then throughout the night I woke up feeling like my back was peppered with bullets.

Because of past history of osteoporosis and T8 and rib fractures GP was happy to send me for an x-ray, but then we agreed there was no real point at the moment because they would only send me home to manage the pain anyway, and I might have exposed myself to the virus in the process. But I think this is the virus, there's nothing else that could explain it. And yet I feel like I'm in the dark even so, because when people say they have lung pain or back pain on here, do they mean the kind of intense pain that stops you from moving because it feels like your muscles have seized up? And if so, any light on the horizon?! Because I'm really struggling now, waking up every day unable to get up easily, unable to do lots of things without either risking or actually causing frightening levels of back and rib pain. But no persistent cough and not a great deal of trouble breathing. I'm absolutely stumped, and the depression is getting to me now being cooped up all on my own for what feels like forever Confused
