New thread for us

@Casino218
Could you possibly buy a blood pressure monitor? They have them in Argos.
Hopefully it's just a normal headache

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 11:56

I unfortunately have lost no weight at all. Gained it in fact 😂
I think it's possibly because I've forced myself to eat and have been having sugar in my tea as it seemed to make me feel better.

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 11:57

@ofwarren friend who is a nurse specialist is dropping off her sphyg for me. I can check it manually then.x

highashope · 04/04/2020 11:57

My first post in thread, reading some of your experiences on here feels like reading my own diary how similar it is.

It’s nearly 4 weeks since I started displaying symptoms, it started with wheezing/tight chest and then progressed into dry cough, fatigue, high temp, fever and aches. I also had gastro symptoms too.

I genuinely thought I was over the worst of it about 1 week in but I still am not right, my chest is still tight and wheezy but I cannot cough anything up.

I spoke with a GP over the phone yesterday who prescribed antibiotics and I am starting those today. Last night I genuinely thought I was going to have to call 999, my heart was nearly beating out of my chest (according to Fitbit my resting heart rate was anything between 88-115 laying still) and I had radiating pains every now and then. I somehow managed to fall asleep and have woken up with my heart rate at a slightly more normal rate but feel the tightness in my chest still.

Sorry for the long post but it’s hard to describe to DP as he’s not had it and it’s driving me mad now ☹️

For info I am mid 20’s with no health conditions and this has hit me like a tonne of bricks.

tupperwaretowers · 04/04/2020 11:58

@EMichel102 it’s more like jittery feelings, but they are constant now. Not gusible externally, it’s inside my chest, neck, head area.

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 11:59

Oh that's good @Casino218
Let us know how you get on.
I wonder what advice would be if it's high?

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 12:03

@ofwarren would start by resting then keep monitoring as first BP you do on anyone is always higher. Then seek GP if doesn't reduce I would guess. With my nurse hat on.

Lightsabre · 04/04/2020 12:10

Thank you Pokemontrainer.

stayathomegardener · 04/04/2020 12:11

@Casino218 Muriel is pretty much the same, on about day 30.

Temperature fluctuates from low to slightly high, fatigue and said this morning "I can feel my breathing heavy like"
Yesterday evening she was telling me they are now not treating the over 75's and how grateful she is to be safe here which killed me. M has no idea I think she already has it.

middleager · 04/04/2020 12:15

Can I ask you all how you managed to self isolate from the family?

I'm hauled up in my room. Fortunately I have an ensuite.
I feel like I could get up and go into the garden and that Vit D would help, but I'm too scared to venture out my room in case I infect the other 3 (though suspect DS2 had it a couple of weeks ago when he had a fever for 2 days. He was skiing with school in Italy in half term).

Standrewsschool · 04/04/2020 12:19

User3... - I finished my antibiotics on Thursday and got more yesterday to cover me for a few more days. Didn’t want my horrible cough (almost gone) to return.

I lost weight to my lowest for over three years (yippee), but have gained a few pounds back since my appetite has returned (boo).

stayathomegardener · 04/04/2020 12:20

Casino218 sorry you are down with it again, I had the headaches for 24 hours a few days ago, they finished with another episode of temperatures and breathlessness. Both have gone now.

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 12:22

@middleager
I didn't leave the bedroom for 9 days at all. Except to go to the bathroom but fortunately we have 2.

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 12:24

What day are you on?@stayathomegardener

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 12:25

@stayathomegardener sorry just seen your post. Glad Muriel ok. It's still coming in cycles isn't it?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 04/04/2020 12:32

Day 12. Feeling quite rubbish again. Probably overdid it yesterday, with a minimal amount of housework and childcare. Now lung pain, exhaustion, chills and breathlessness back a bit. Shit. DS, 9, also under the weather. Grrr.

Hang on in there fellow sufferers. Brew

longshot · 04/04/2020 12:38

Day 25 quick lunchtime update. All ok here currently. Want to offer some hope to those who are really struggling. I am definitely not fully recovered but I am able to play with my DCs, zoom chat with friends, make breakfast and tidy up etc without feeling awful. I rest a lot and I do not push myself to do stuff around the house. It seems I am recovering just very slowly. Still have mild chest pains, rib pains and general tiredness on and off.

Ive stopped worrying about all the things I can’t do that I normally would eg go for a run, gardening, paint my kitchen, hoover and clean my bathrooms and I’m playing with my DCs when I can, reading my books, folding washing and eating! I also get outside for a short walk every day. That is all I can manage and if I spend another week like this it’s fine. I can tell my body needs rest and I am listening to it.

There is hope guys it’s just a slooooow recovery. And it’s very annoying there’s nothing in the media about this. If I had known it might take me 6 weeks to feel fully well (which I’m now thinking it may) I would have been less anxious and stressed about it all.

mymoonmyman2020 · 04/04/2020 12:39

@ScrimpshawTheSecond

I had the exact same thing yesterday - day 12 for me - overdid it with a morning of childcare and light housework, in bed all afternoon. This morning have tried to take things slower, to stop before I get tired. But still have some breathlessness and weird shaky fatigue. Just in case it helps that someone else is going through the exact same thing! We will get there, under 2 weeks is still fairly early days I suppose... 💐

Sambucus · 04/04/2020 12:40

I can’t seem to work the links but if you go to Tim Spector’s twitter there’s a thread about CV chest pain which might be helpful to some. He is part of the team responsible for the COVID-19 symptom tracker app.

mymoonmyman2020 · 04/04/2020 12:42

And X post with @longshot

Glad you’re feeling better and that’s a very reassuring post - it’s frustratingly slow but we’ll get there.

I have to stop feeling guilty about housework, not playing enough with the DC etc! There will be plenty of time for that when I’ve recovered...

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 12:51

@Sambucus I've got his twitter page but can't see anything re chest pain which day was it?

stayathomegardener · 04/04/2020 12:57

Yes to the weight loss!
I'm down a stone to just under 8st same weight I got married at 25 years ago.

I do need to get well as have to take my legs out somewhere nice; they are looking fantastic!

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 13:08

Day 12
I did plan to sit out in the garden with the kids, but nope...
I'm back in bed. Urgh
Just feel so wobbly and have chest pain.

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 13:09

I'm jealous @stayathomegardener!
Nice to have a positive side effect 😁

user34254356 · 04/04/2020 13:10

@emichel @Standrewsschool hopefully the antibiotics are still in the system then. I might get more on Monday if i feel the need. I just feel stressed about bothering my GP continuously!

I feel i am stuck in some vicious 3 day cycle: day 1 is fever, day 2 i feel better and can do light housework and day 3 back in bed breathless and racy heartbeat.

Today is day 3! So tomorrow probably back to fever mode.
