New thread for us

@simplekindoflife Think worst period for me lasted about a week and things have gradually improved, although I still have chest pain now it isn't as bad.

Standrewsschool · 04/04/2020 05:14

There seems to be a lot if us that has had a temperature relapse around day 18.

lilsimbax · 04/04/2020 06:24

I’m on Day 12 now and by far my worst symptom only hit yesterday - the insane itching!! It’s a burning itch all over my body, literally from head to toe. The fever, the body aches, the breathlessness, the fatigue, even the zero taste & smell I can deal with, but what the heck is this horrendous itching all about?! Didn’t even know this was a symptom 😔

KatySun · 04/04/2020 07:15

My chest pain started severely on day 4, ebbed a bit, had some worsening around day 7, ebbed a bit, worse again 10 and 11, and has ebbed a bit again. It is always there, though. I was not ever completely breathless, more like a tight band on my chest and I noticed it was more difficult to at some points and it was sore to take deep breaths.

I tried sleeping on my front last night, and managed to sleep to 6am, which is the longest I have slept in over two weeks. On day 14 or 15 here. Biggest problem now is the debilitating fatigue. I had the shaky legs thing last night for the first time but it passed.

I suppose my other concern is what if this is not covid-19. While I understand all the precautions and I was reassured by the doctor I spoke to, there is no other health situation where you would be diagnosed over the phone and basically left to it. I am presuming it is covid-19 because the symptoms and timing match up and it is unlike anything I have ever had before but what if it is not? The media coverage does not really help - basically you would be forgiven for thinking it is either like a bad cold or you end up in hospital - whereas there is a vast spectrum of in-between. And no-one mentions the chest pain.

TheWooisStrong · 04/04/2020 07:43

@simplekindoflife I had about 3/4 nights that. I downloaded the Headspace app and it helped a bit, forcible relaxation.

Day 23/24 here.
Up, hot shower and tried that lung exercise vid. I did cough up some gunk, better out than in.
I feel a bit brighter today, so hopefully the antibiotics are seeing off any secondary infection and I’m on the mend.
I’ll be back later I expect.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 04/04/2020 08:13

Day 23. Also feeling a bit better. Still haven't had a day without a fever in the afternoon and I didn't sleep great last night. But yesterday I was able to do a lot more with my family. So hopefully the start of an upward trajectory.

Wishing you all well.

stayathomegardener · 04/04/2020 08:18

@OneDayAtATime123 yep 30g vitamin c, 30 x 1000mg tablets over 24 hours, I take 10g daily anyway but got to 30g before it ummm went straight through...

Not looking forward to today's regime.
@TheDrsWife46 hope you and family are ok? Not seen you in a while.

mumlurker · 04/04/2020 08:20

Hope everyone is due a better day today.

Day 22/23 here. Last few days have been hellish but my fever, nausea and headache subsided last night and my lungs feel distinctly less inflamed. Managed to sleep through the night. Overjoyed to wake up today merely a bit grotty feeling and tired with only a twinge of lung burn. Could be a false dawn but I've managed to have coffee today for the first time in three weeks.

So used to feeling shite I feel completely ecstatic when I'm feeling even half way normal!

littleblackdress04 · 04/04/2020 08:25

Hi, just checking in, am on Day 11 now and feeling a lot better. Still got chest pains, congestion but it kind of feels like the virus has left 🙏🏻

onlinelinda · 04/04/2020 08:29

A pretty encouraging morning from a few of you! Long may that continue.

I have a pretty hot back, which is the opposite of yesterday, when it was freezing cold. But I'm not breathless or dizzy or especially cold. Still in bed just at the moment.

EMichel102 · 04/04/2020 08:33

It is so nice to wake up to some encouraging improvements from many on here! And sorry to hear some are still struggling. Day 19 here and I rotated front and back sleeping last night but found front sleeping uncomfortable for my neck and arms each time to woke every hour. I still managed some sleep though and am feeling hopeful today will be a better day than yesterday. I don’t want to push myself too much though just yet and relapse. DH thinks it’s time for me to re-enter the world of parenting with him but with 3 small children it’s too exhausting for me still! So I continue to hide in my bedroom for most of the day.

findingschools4myboys · 04/04/2020 08:35

Day 25
I am happy to say I pretty much slept through the night! Haven’t stood up yet, but can feel I am still heavy when I lie down. Nothing compared to 2 weeks ago though. I do wonder what it is though that makes my body feel as it is being pulled into the ground only when lying down. Very strange.

Porcupineinwaiting · 04/04/2020 08:37

@EMichel102 dont risk your recovery by overdoing it. It's tough in your dh but he needs to give you a few days more.

Day 17 here. One of my "bad" days (they alternate) but less bad than day 15 - I even managed to dose a bit as symptoms resurged, which is a first. Do feel (touch wood) that I've turned a corner but progress is slow.

kevintheorangecarrot · 04/04/2020 08:38

I find that when I relax in bed in the evening, laying on my tummy definitely helps with my breathing and loosens the "tightness" around my chest if that makes sense? Both lungs are towards your back so it makes sense that you breathe better sideways or on tummy.

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 08:41

Day 26 both DH and myself had chest pains yesterday again and headaches, groggy. I've woken with a bad headache today and daughter said my eyes were red last night. I'm just resigned to the fact that this has assaulted my body and will take a fair bit of time to recover from. Urghh!

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 04/04/2020 08:42

@EMichel102 I feel like front sleeping is the way forward but that I need a different much smaller pillow to just very slightly raise my nose off the bed. A pilates pillow but with a soft cover would be perfect.

In fact once I am a bit more recovered I think some very gentle pilates could help in terms of restoring muscle tone and flexibility after such a long period of activity without hopefully the cardiovascular strain of trying to walk too far.

I am used to attending classes but if anyone has any online recommendations please let me know.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 04/04/2020 08:42

Long period of inactivity obviously

OneDayAtATime123 · 04/04/2020 08:50

@stayathomegardener
Got it . The reason I was asking is bcos, the absorption rate above 1 gm is very poor with vitamin C pills. I take liposomal Vitamin C, that has a much higher absorption rate .

longshot · 04/04/2020 08:53

Day 25 here.

Woke up feeling pretty ok. Still feel ‘heavy’ in the top of my back but slept well and tried to only sleep on my side or front which I think I managed mostly. I only woke once as had period pain (nice relief from chest pain).

I can tell I’ll be tired today but I am always tired at this time of the month anyway but I think if I rest regularly will be ok today. Certainly feel better than I did when I woke yesterday with a sore throat.

It just lingers and lingers doesn’t it...

Also I’ve stopped taking pain killers. I took them (paracetamol) for about 10 day I think and thought I should stop but this has definitely made me feel worse (stopping) but I felt I couldn’t take them forever.

To those feeling really bad do make sure you stay on max dose paracetamol while you need to as it really really helped me plus loads of water.

I tried nurofen gel on my ribs yesterday and it was great so may use that again later if needed although think it kills me into thinking I am fine and then I do too much so it’s perhaps better not to use it. Who knows!

Just seem BOJO still has a fever, maybe he will he on here in a few days comparing symptoms!

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 08:55

@longshot glad to hear the Brufen worked and you are doing ok.

stayathomegardener · 04/04/2020 08:55

Might be awful but I do hope BJ goes through something similar as then we might get some answers.

Casino218 · 04/04/2020 09:00

@stayathomegardener how's Muriel?

Borderscotch · 04/04/2020 09:13

Just found this thread and found it really useful. 4 weeks ago I felt tired and weak, developed an awful cough and headache (had the headache on and off the week before) saw GP and was given antibiotics for a possible sinus infection and given asthma pumps (this was when only if you'd been to one of the infected countries was it a concern), the Thursday that week was when they brought in the cough or fever rules. I had no temp but it was up slightly for me, so 37.2 rather than 36.4, I never get temperatures even with a nasty post op infection. I'm still coughing, and feel the need to clear my throat continuously. How does this compare? I now, in hindsight, wonder if I've had it, both DCs had minor coughs after me, with one just not right for a few days. I work in a school so if I've had it I'd feel happier about going in for key worker children - (I will be in either way)

KinderWild · 04/04/2020 09:40

@KatySun and @simplekindoflife I had the chest pain too, 4 days quite bad and then it was still there but less so. It almost broke me, and led to me sobbing down the phone to my gp. As I was really scared.

KinderWild · 04/04/2020 09:42

Presses post too soon.

Really hope it gets better for you both soon
