Why can't people follow the rules?

I'm confused

Every single day people post on here saying the rules are rubbish and why they shouldn't apply to them.
Every day people are arguing with those of us trying to follow the rules set out by OUR government.
I have some questions

1. Those of you who feel the rules are silly and ignore them - if you get ill enough will you be using the NHS to receive care?
2. If the answer to this is yes are you comfortable knowing you could be taking that care away from someone's mother, father, son or daughter who tried their upmost to follow all the rules?
3. If you loved one dies because the NHS didn't have spaces would you be angry or would you accept it and move on without raising a complaint?
4. Why do you feel these rules the rest of us are following don't apply to you. You cannot just say because they are silly.

My point is how can you deliberately ignore these rules when they are there to save lives?

Because they are scared so are pretending to themselves it's all nonsense?

Simple answer: people are selfish.

Because they see a huge threat to them being able to buy dinner and keep a roof over their head?

@midgebabe don't think that's solved by taking 6 walks per day or meeting up with friends?

Most people can. The problem is with the media and the government trying to divide us more by saying so many do not and therefore diverting repsonsibility from themselves onto the society.

Modern freedoms have made us spoiled and entitled. 'You can't tell me what to do' attitude makes them rebel simply because they've been told not to do something.

Pathetic really.

Taking 6 walks a day in some areas won't matter a single jot.

People from different households meeting up is more serious and I don't think the two can be equated.

@MonaLisaDoesntSmile I'm taking this from my local Facebook sites. All of which people say that they can drive to exercise, they can go out more than once a day, they can meet with their friends etc it's actually disturbing the lack of interest they have in other people's lives

Yy mona, its not a good news story is it showing empty streets and people complying

Again I can't see any issues with people driving to excersie.
People meeting up with friends however is mixing up households and not stopping transmission

@Freshairimportanttoo this was posted by our local police station. Think it gives really good arguments as to why it's irresponsible and lets not forget against guidelines

Do you have any woods nearer and perhaps walkable?

How many other people will be at the woods when you get there?

Is your car likely to break down during the journey and are your tyres in good condition?

How good is your driving?

Can you rely on other people’s driving being as good as yours?

Do you have enough fuel?

Will you be stopping for fuel and will that stop turn into another unnecessary shop nearby with other people buying lunch for their woodland walk?

How long will you be away from your vehicle and can you be relied upon to take your bag, wallet and house keys with you or will you leave them in the boot to be stolen by thieves?

Perhaps just take exercise locally and as much as is humanly possible, without transport and away from others.

Minimise the risk and reduce the demand on the Police and NHS.

@babydogandi -,I’ve been self employed for 11 months so I don’t qualify for the SE government grant .
I spent yesterday going through UC options. The most I can get ,if I get it, is £53 per week. My rent is £400 pm, my car insurance is £46 pm & car tax.
So as long as the guidance is if you can not work from home - yes I will continue to work & TBH even if that guidance changes I will.
I’ve lost 4lbs in weight this week trying to make sure my child has enough to eat. I’m now 7st 7 lbs & do a manual job.
The government have admitted that some workers will not get anything I’m one of them

@babydogandi Those people are in a massive minority. My area is EMPTY. No one I know is breaking the rules. Some people are posting stuff out there for controversy. A vast portion of the society complies with the regulations. But it's easy to find three idiots from different households hanging aorund, plonking them on the front page and then BJ saying we need to tighten measures and blame all of us instead of the fact the government messed it up big time...

@HonestlyWillTheRsinEverStop but this isn't solved by going on countless walks. I also can't justify mixing with other households? Not sure what your work is but if you are mixing with other households more than you would need to it simply irresponsible

I think most people are following the rules.

@MonaLisaDoesntSmile defo not the same as round here. It's like a normal day. People going in and out countless times. People are playing together in our estate and next door had a party last night with all the houses from the close invited. I also drove over to my parents and grandparents today to drop off shopping as they cannot leave the house for 12 weeks and there were big groups of people playing cricket, joint dog walks, picnics going on!

I think the vast majority are following the guidelines. The thing is in every crisis be it a virus, war etc you will always get people that don’t follow the rules - always have always will that’s not going to change.

In a modern country such as the uk people were never going to conform straight away which is why we now have this lockdown, only the stupid are going out when they don’t need to now so more restrictions will be given soon I expect to protect the hard of thinking.
People only listened in China because they actually sealed people in! I never want to live in a county that would treat its citizens that way, not ever

People unquestioningly following government rules isn’t a good thing in a democracy.

So much of this has similarities with the 1930s, also after a Great Recession.

@babydogandi - no you don’t know but quite simply in case it didn’t go in from my first post I HAVE NO CHOICE. How do I eat ?

Most people are. Some days I go out twice. But I live in a rural area. Even before all this I would never see a single person when I walked the dog in the morning. So what harm am I doing? I don't meet anyone, don't even see anyone at a distance.

If you live somewhere more populated.

And I know why they have chosen to present these strict rules. Because they human behaviour works means that if you leave it up to people, some people will not use sense and apply the least strict version, even if they live in Central London.

Most people are though.

It doesnt matter what the rule is. Lots of people womt think it applies to them or think of ways round it.

@HonestlyWillTheRsinEverStop in which case you come under the people who have to work but can't work from home. However that does not mean that you can take more than one form of exercise per day, drive to do exercise or go in 15 shopping trips because you forgot to get a twix last time!

Baby you see its responses like that, that make it seem ridiculous.

How many days ago were we told we would not be closing schools because every parent in the land would be definitely forcing their germy dc onto passive frail grandparents who couldn't say no!

My car has been full of petrol for a while. I wouldn't stop for lunch. Where I walk even in the very height of summer I've rarely been in two meters of anyone..
We do however have drunk layabouts round here, spitting on people, coughing on them and I'd rather drive away from that into quieter areas.

If everyone in denser parts of London went out numerous times it would be an I issue. In others areas its not going to affect anyone!

People loose sight of why it's one per day.

It's all to stop transmission from person to person.

Let's say Karen at no 43 actually did 3 runs a day... If she's sensible and in an area where she sees no one... Shes not harming anyone and perhaps keeping herself sane.. I presumed these laws were more than for gangs, teens... Groups of layabouts getting pissed up and abusive?.
