Changing the topic slightly, if you look at Wuhan deaths per day (non cumulative), is the graph even either side of the peak? Or once you've hit peak, do the deaths fall pretty quickly? ie is peak deaths approx half total deaths?

What reagents are in shortage?

Pedantry can be useful sometimes. If only my memory and intelligence could back it up ...

myrtleWilson · 30/03/2020 14:14

Re recording of deaths - ONS will be releasing weekly data sets including non hospital deaths. (from Beth Rigby on twitter from the lobby briefing)

NeurotrashWarrior · 30/03/2020 14:15

Just placemarking

hopefulhalf · 30/03/2020 14:58

Moi aussi

WithIcePlease · 30/03/2020 15:01

WithIcePlease · 30/03/2020 15:07

That's wrong sorry

WithIcePlease · 30/03/2020 15:07

WithIcePlease · 30/03/2020 15:08

FingonTheValiant · 30/03/2020 15:09

1241 is 13 more than yesterday.

Barracker · 30/03/2020 15:10

159 - I think that's just England, WithIcePlease

159 new deaths today

Yesterday was 1,228, so 1241 wouldn't be 159 more. Confused

Sunshinesky1981 · 30/03/2020 15:13

So total uk deaths are now at 1408 ?

namechangemania · 30/03/2020 15:15

There have been 159 new deaths IN ENGLAND recorded in the last 24 hours

defthand · 30/03/2020 15:19

Wales +14 deaths, +210 new cases
Scotland +6 deaths +179 new cases
NI + 1 death

BirdandSparrow · 30/03/2020 15:21

It sounds like a total shambles and like there are actually more deaths in the UK from CV than figures suggest.
812 deaths in Spain in the last 24 hours, a slight decrease.

namechangemania · 30/03/2020 15:21

Another drop in total UK deaths for the second day running now then. This can only be good?

namechangemania · 30/03/2020 15:22

I’m probably being totally naive by believing the figures aren’t actually higher Sad

QuentinWinters · 30/03/2020 15:29

Where are you getting the figs from? They arent on the twitter page yet

Barracker · 30/03/2020 15:31

namechangemania If it were accurate - absolutely yes. Although it's inexplicable, but we're all thankful for unexplained miracles.
If these figures are not accurate - no.

I'm beginning to think each hospital trust should publish their own results online on their websites.
The compiled results from PHE seem to differ significantly from what hospitals are reporting.

BBC news had the total uk death toll at 1408 on their breaking news roll

hopefulhalf · 30/03/2020 15:34

It's a 14% increase. Could be worse, but sunday figures. If following France (mu personal prediction) 2,000 by wednesday.

QUOTE
My not very accurate memory is that at the beginning of the following week (beginning 2 March) a few people had started to be cautious about, say, going on the tube, and some events were being cancelled. By the end of that week people were much more nervous.

Yes, that's my experience too. We were talking about whether a work conference we were organising in the third week of March would go ahead on 2 March and some people thought it was ridiculous. I flew abroad on 2 March and there was no social distancing in evidence then in either country. Then back on 5 March and away that night at a work event and people did bring it up in conversation. But it wasn't a thing most people in my circles thought about much until early the next week with Nadine Dorries etc.
END QUOTES

That is Interesting.
Members of my family travelled to London from Luxembourg for a shopping trip 17 to 21 FEBRUARY. They were fearful and concerned about travelling on the underground and being in confined places like restaurants and the theatre.
In fact if it had not been preordered
they were seriously cancelling.
They travelled with ( pre ordered the week before) masks bought from a Luxembourg pharmacy that were then out of stock.
So some people were concerned about corona virus “very early” by some standards.

itsgettingweird · 30/03/2020 15:50

Agree if the figures are accurate they are looking better.

However I read something earlier that says Kings hospital trust have recorded 31 death due to CV.
Only 11 have been published.
And that if each trust was the same the actual number is 1000 higher. Sad

I really don't believe deaths would be misreported. They will show up eventually on ONS and this isn't the time for governments to be seen to be lying. The end result of this would be dramatic.
