Just that really. Ban exercise? Just shopping/work? Curfews? My mind can't comprehend staying indoors for days at a time. I will go mad.

Yep, total lockdown is the next step.

Desperately hoping it doesn't come to that as I am only surviving this by getting the dog out for an hour a day in the woods and trails around my house (very secluded and I've seen perhaps 2 people in a week, obviously observing strict distancing).

GreenTulips · 29/03/2020 10:39

Large fines for those not social distancing

Army patrolling the streets

Rationing

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 29/03/2020 10:40

Non essential work stopped. Letter of authorisation to go out.

fessmess · 29/03/2020 10:44

Jesus. I fear it will come as this has been the outcome so far, BJ getting tougher. I am also surviving by taking my dog out. I am not a real home person. Hate just sitting about. I understand the reasons but don't know how I'll cope. I think it'll lead to civil unrest too.

OP posts:
SnuggyBuggy · 29/03/2020 10:45

I'm not convinced we have enough of a police force to enforce this

fessmess · 29/03/2020 10:46

Don't worry people are snitching on each other so doing the work for the police.

RaininSummer · 29/03/2020 10:47

Everybody I know is already abiding by the stay at home apart from food shopping and local brief exercise anyway. Hopefully any tighter restrictions will be to stop the knob heads who are flouting rules. Possibly rationing but at present food stocks seem OK, it's just the difficulty of getting it.

AutumnRose1 · 29/03/2020 10:47

OP when did he say this please?

SnuggyBuggy · 29/03/2020 10:47

Maybe they'll give out sniper rifles to the curtain twitchers.

Pulppixies · 29/03/2020 10:48

Banning gathering at funerals is what I think will be next

GaraMedouar · 29/03/2020 10:50

Maybe like in France where you need a letter of authorisation when going out? No exercise out?

Tootletum · 29/03/2020 10:51

Well seeing as some total wanker went on a bike ride for 9 hours and then stuck his Strava route on Facebook, I guess cycling will be banned. Admittedly he was a triathlete but what a cock.

Isleepinahedgefund · 29/03/2020 10:59

The reason things got tougher last week was that people weren't taking any notice of the previous, less harsh restrictions - it was a direct response to people doing stupid stuff like going to en mass to tourist spots that weekend.

If enough people continue to flaunt these new rules then yes, things will get tougher. If it becomes evident that people need to be restricted with enforcement, then that's what will happen. That's the way it's gone in other countries, why would you think it would be different here? You must have seen the number of people coming up with their stupid reasons on here that the rules don't apply to them.

We're doing this to collectively save lives. None of us want to stay in do we, but the quicker and stricter everyone complies the quicker it will be over.

Veterinari · 29/03/2020 11:02

Total lockdown at the 3 week review just like Italy and France. It's pretty predictable. Too many folk still taking the piss

Straycatstrut · 29/03/2020 11:04

More needs to be done.

My nextdoor neighbour had a house party last night. It started at 6 and it went on all night, right through until 6 in the morning. Some all night DJ broadcasting it or something. Cheering, screaming and cackling and booming all night. It kept me up (luckily kids rooms are opposite ends of the house) and I cried angry tears at one point. How inconsiderate and selfish can you be?

5 people arrived in one car that is still parked there now.

And for all the fuckers still going out and about think about how your actions will effect others. We have no garden or outside space. All we have is once a day exercise, where we go for a walk with our toddler. When that is taken away we will be stuck inside permanently. Think of the mental toll this takes on adults and children. All because you wanted to go out a few times and think the rules don't apply to you.

Sihaya · 29/03/2020 11:07

AutumnRose1 this is what he says in the letter due to be sent out to all homes next week:

"From the start, we have sought to put in the right measures at the right time. We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do."

LastTrainEast · 29/03/2020 11:10

"I'm not convinced we have enough of a police force to enforce this" True, but people are supposed to obey a law without someone watching them. Unfortunately it's the other kind we need the restrictions for.

AutumnRose1 · 29/03/2020 11:12

Sihaya oh thank you, I thought there was some imminent thing happening!

OldLace · 29/03/2020 11:14

Yes I think total lockdown (letter to leave the house) will come in 3 weeks once the death toll rises sharply. Perhaps sooner :(

NewNameChange2020 · 29/03/2020 11:15

@Straycatstrut that's ridiculous! Did you report it? I've seen on here there's a form and live chats where you can contact police. I would have cried too.

vinoandbrie · 29/03/2020 11:16

I think there’s still some way to go in terms of closing things like construction sites.

GreenTulips · 29/03/2020 11:19

Rebellenny

If the shops are shut and you aren’t heading for the hospital there’s a good chance you’ll be stopped.

Hopefully these people will get reported.

ScribblingMilly · 29/03/2020 11:20

There was a really good article by someone living in Barcelona, and although they're stricter than us on exercise they haven't stopped dog walking, and I can't believe they'd do that here. It would be cruel and quite dangerous for people too as dogs would get frustrated and some would be potentially aggressive.
